MEETING MINUTES

ROSHNI FOUNDATION

Opening:

The regular meeting of Roshni foundation duly called and held on 7th March,2016 at Hotel Marcleis conference room, commencing at 9:00am.

Present were:

Ambreen Zahra

Maryum Arshad

Zartasha Shaukat

Isma Nizam

With the approval of the directors present, Ambreen Zahra acted as Chairman of the meeting and Maryum Arshad recorded the minutes.

1. Approval of Agenda

The agenda of this meeting “A REVIEW UOPN PUNJAB ASSEMBLY BILL FOR TAHAFUZ E NISWAN” was unanimously approved as distributed.

2. Approval of Minutes

The minutes of the previous meeting were unanimously approved as distributed.

3. Announcements

Department of fund allocation now will be head under the supervision of Miss. Isma Nizam Miss. Zahra now will be act as representative of Roshni Foundation in dealing with other

Agencies More Fund will be allocated for the betterment of Rular areas women Miss Maryum will check out the implementation of decision made here in this meeting and she

will report this to the CEO of Roshni Foundation.

4. Open Issues

Miss Maryum Arshad started the discussion by appreciating the role of government for the development of women. She further exclaimed satisfaction on recent laws which were passed for Pakistani women.Miss Zartasha also showed positive attitude toward the steps taken by women development authority of Pakistan. She said these steps will be prove fruit full for Pakistan as women of Pakistan now are given equal opportunities in society.Miss Isma pinpointed the major problem in implementing these laws. She focused on awareness about women rights as most of the ratio among women is illiterate. She further explained how these laws are only giving benefit to an especial class of Pakistan societyMiss Ambreen Zahra also appreciated the government role for women empowerment but her major focused was upon the society norms which make it difficult to implement these laws.

Miss Maryum’s points:

She appreciated the struggle done by the Punjab Assembly Committee which are being carried on for 9 months and finally amended after a series of meetings.

She was 90% in favor of this Bill as it provides opportunity for women to take control of their own life & live according to their own values.

She focused upon the liberty which women have gotten the power to make decisions and have their voices heard, and to negotiate and challenge societal norms and customs.

Miss Zartasha’s Points:

She made her focus upon the international laws which provides liberty to women and relates Punjab assembly bill with international credibility.

She also persuaded to form a committee who will especially work for negotiation upon women image in south Asia at international level.

Miss Isma’s points:

She pointed out the norms which are prevailing in Pakistan society and will cause a hurdle in implementing Punjab Assembly bill.

She talked about the feudalism which contributes toward the worst ranking of Pakistan for women liberty in the world.

Her major focus upon education of women in Pakistan and she provoked to raise awareness among Pakistani women regarding their rights.

Miss Ambreen’s Points:

She pointed out the negative impact of this bill in Pakistan’s society where a major part of women is dependent.

She talked about the misuse of this bill by some special class of society through which negativity exceed only.

She was desirous of empowerment not only women but the other suppressed part of our society

Some action plans have been made in this meeting are as follows:

A committee will be formed whose task is to raise awareness among urban women for their rights.

This committee shall hold at least one meeting in every three months and shall regulate its procedure.

Technical education programs will be started in ruler areas for women so that they will be able to stand at equal in society.

Different delegates will be sent to lower Punjab & Sindh areas. Their major focus will be on raising awareness regarding education of women & it will work for protection of aggrieved women.

A team will be created for gathering funds for ROSHNI FOUNDATION under the supervision of Miss Ambreen Zahra

5. New Business To be strong it will be worthwhile to merge with other NGOs who are also focusing on same

issues. Along with women empowerment plan, Roshni Foundation also will focus on abolishing

child labor.

6. Agenda for Next Meeting

In the next meeting following issues will be discussed:

Performance of ROSHNI foundation in implementing government steps for women empowerment.

Results of merger with other NGOs Role of Roshni Foundation in dissemination of abolishing human trafficking Focus on schemes of QARZ –E-HASNA for women of ruler areas.

Meeting was adjourned at 9:30am by Miss. Zartasha Shaukat. The next general meeting will be at 9:00 am on 7th April, 2016 in Hotel Noor plaza suit no 3.
