All car parks within the City of Melbourne must answer yes to these two mandatory criteria to participate in the City of Melbourne Car Park Accreditation Scheme. Answering yes to these questions will automatically give you 40 points in the rating sheet.

HOW TO RATE THE CAR PARKCar parks are to be assessed by the accreditation criteria incorporated within the checklist provided.

This checklist corresponds with the self assessment checklist provided to car park owners and operators contained within the City of Melbourne Car Park Accreditation Scheme Information Pack.

The assessment and rating of the car park will be undertaken using the following criteria:

Part A: Emergency Procedures Emergency management is mandatory and carries a total score of 40 points; and Car park operators must indicate yes to both criteria in this section to participate in the

accreditation.

See the guidelines provided for further information regarding rationale and importance of these elements as priorities for all car parks.

2. Part B: Value added services

Questions 1 to 5 Each criterion carries a total of 20 points. Answering yes = 20 points Add the total of each yes to ascertain your score in this section. Transfer your points to the rating table

a. Work through each section and assign a condition rating score of 1 to 4

b. Transfer the figure assigned to each characteristic to the rating table.

Please note on the rating table that a weighting factor has been applied to each characteristic. Weighting levels are as follows:

c. Multiply the condition score by the weighting factor to calculate the score. Condition score level x weighting level

Total the scores for the different characteristics under each criterion.

Please provide a copy of the final assessment form to the car park operator

When discussions have concluded with car park operator and accreditation level has been finalised, please photocopy this official assessment document and provide a copy to the car park operator for their reference. The original copy must be returned to City of Melbourne.

Accreditation is conducted every three years or as directed by members of the Safe City Transport and Car Park Steering Committee and will involve consultation with car park operators.

Car park operators who have achieved level three or higher will be provided with promotional material to advertise their star rating.
