2. GMD - GLOBAL MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
• The Global Membership Drive (GMD) is a campaign
launched to increase member engagement and see a
significant membership growth.
• Our goal is five percent membership growth and a net
increase of one new club per district.

How do we make it happen?
• Lieutenant governors, area directors and webmasters work together!
• The clubs grab the opportunity to arrange retention and recruitment activities

Call for Action
Your immediate action is needed! Two new members per club makes a big difference
At least 150 members for District 29!

THE GMD WORKS ON 2 PILLARS:
• Engage and Retain:
Create real passion
for Zonta and its
mission among our
members to
ultimately foster
retention.
• Recruit: Motivate
clubs to achieve a
real breakthrough in
membership growth.

MEMBER LIFE CYCLE MANAGEMENT
Club boards have the task to
manage each member actively
during its Zonta Life!
New members need
information, welcoming and
onboarding support, mentoring
Existing members need to
be activated and feel active
club participation, friendship
and attention, encouragement,
recognition
Very motivated members
need to be trained and
convinced to take a Zonta
leader role in their club or
elsewhere in the organisation
Even leavers may still
promote Zonta. Stay in touch!

4. Recruitment
In order to grow, we need to recruit more new members than we lose.
But we do not want to recruit just anybody.
• We want members to fit in with Zonta, sharing ourpassion for empowering women.
• New members should be willing :
-to participate in : international & local service,
advocacy and fundraising activities
-to take part in committees and club life, and
accept leadership positions.

Quick recruitment ideas
• Personal calls to your friends and associates who share the
passion to serve
• Identify daughters of Zontians: they are familiar with Zonta
objectives and it is great to have support from Mom
• Invite second or third generation Zontians, both boys and girls
• Invite past awardees and past Z and Golden Z members
• Organize opportunities (e.g. club meetings with speakers so that
prospectives can meet members & explain Zontian objectives)
• Invite prospectives to join different interest groups in the club.
• Emphasize the joy of giving, which is much bigger than the joy of
receiving
