Subject: Monthly Activities in the Media Center

Mr. Monday:

This memo is to provide highlights of the October 2011 events coming up in the school media center. October is sure to be a busy and eventful month, as we usher in Fall and another exciting school year!

We will kick off the month of October with book talks in each of the 9-12th grade English classes to inform our students of our impending Author Visit scheduled for Thursday, October 13th. Ms. Robin Epstein, Peach Award Winning Author of God is in the Pancakes. The book talks will consist of introducing the author and the book to the students and reading several key passages to them.

There will be standardized testing the first couple weeks of the month, and our media clerk will be assisting with all of the copying and prep work to make testing successful.

The last Saturday of the month, we will have a Books-A-Million night where students or any WRHS supporters may present a flyer from us when making any purchases from the store. With presenting this flyer, we will receive a percentage of each transaction.

On Thursday mornings, we will be collaborating with English classes that will be coming into the media center to engage in lessons on research skills.

Each Friday afternoon at 3:30 PM, the Scorchin’ Scholars book club will have their weekly meeting in the media center to discuss this month’s book club selection and participate in the book drills to prepare of the local competition.
