Gillian and Alison's class!!TRANSCRIPT
International ESL Program Class A
For example, one thing that I loved was
when I arrived at the college in the
morning would see the gardens, and in
the streets there were a lot of rabbits
and chipmunks.
Leaving makes me sad, but I have
made new friends forever and we will
always stay in contact with each other
and remember Welland and all thing
that were funny.
Now, I’m in my last week of the trip
and I don’t want to go home, because
there are a lot of things that I still want
to see.
I will always remember CANADA.
Everything is different, the food, the
culture, the streets, the places, the
people and the behavior.
The nature in Canada is the most
beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, because
the village of Welland has a lot of
vegetation, trees and flowers.
The colours are fantastic and you are in
contact with nature.
We visited Niagara Falls, Toronto,
Niagara-on-the-lake and we went to
Crystal Beach.
I don’t have words to describe this
places, I can only say:
“THEY WERE AMAZING AND I WILL
NEVER FORGOT IT”
My first day at the college was
exciting .
We met our teachers and stayed with
my new friends.
The classes were sometimes boring, but
with the other classmates it become
fun.
I’m going to talk about my short
experience in CANADA.
When I left my family in Oviedo and
caught the bus I didn’t know anybody,
so I start this trip alone.
But on the bus and the two planes I
met some new friendly people.
We are travelled for 20 hours to come to
Canada and the trip was exhausting,
everybody was very tired and the only
thing that everybody wanted to do was
sleep.
When I arrive at the college I met my
new homestay family and she brought
me to her house, she was a very nice
person, friendly, cheerful and generous.
Soon, I started to feel as if I was in my
own house.
I met her daughters
an dog (very beautiful
dog), and everything
was perfect because
we had very similar
customs like giving
kisses, huges and
smiles.
I will miss my
homestay family so
much when I go home
because we are very
close now.

“the best thing part of this trip
for me were the excursions”
I went to the classes and in
the evening the excursions were the
principal attraction.
I got to know Niagara falls,
the most marvelous place I’ve ever
seen .
The first days were strange. I
was living with complete stranger but I
felt comfortable. My homestay father
always sais to me “You’re in your house”
Hey! My name is Rafael. I’m
19 and I’m from Spain.
This trip has been special for
me because I have never been to
another continent without my family
My trip started in Oviedo, we
take a bus and went to Madrid. We
couldn’t sleep, we were so excited.
At that moment we did not
know each other at all, so we were a
little bit shy.
We arrived in Madrid and
started to speak with the leaders and
the others students.
After that, we went to the
Netherlands and finally we arrived in
Canada 8 hours later. I was dog tired!
The beginning
Thank You!
Excursions.
That has been one of my best
experiences of my life. I will remember
this trip and all of the people that I met
here forever
Thank you for that chance to
have this experience!
Toronto, What a big
city! I went to CN Tower and
took the ferry to Toronto
island. That was an amazing
place.
We also went to Canada’s
Wonderland with my mates.. We
enjoyed the big rides and of
course we went on the
Leviathan. This was amazing!
When I was at the top and
looked to the ground I was very
scared but I enjoyed the feeling.

My experience in Canada has
been very good and comfortable.
I have experienced new and
exciting moments with people
of different countries. I have
met people of China, Japan
and Spain, and when I started
the trip I didn't know anybody.
During the trip I visited
amazing places like Niagara
Falls, Canada’s Wonderland,
Toronto, Niagara-on-the-lake
and Crystal Beach.
My favorites places were
Toronto and Niagara Falls.
Everyday we have to do
different activities, for example
we visited different places and
played games in the gym. In
the morning we have classes
and the rest of the day we have
different activities in groups.
Finally, I lived with a very nice
Canadian Family who made my
month in Canada easier.

Only 3 days until I go back home and I want stay here in Canada for ever. I think that one month is not enough, but It’s my first time in other country, so I think that It’s good. I remember that the first day I was very nervous and a little bit afraid. But when finally I arrived in Canada I felt really happy, free and adventurous.
My homestay family is amazing, I feel like another
daughter to them. They cook really well and I have
tried a lot of different foods, like toast with bacon
and maple syrup or marshmallows with chocolate
and cookies. I try different drinks and typical
Canadian beer. I love beer!.
We visited a lot of places, like Niagara– on– the-lake, that was really beautiful; Niagara Falls; Canada’s Wonderland and Toronto. After a month here, I can say that I falling in love with this part of the country, and I hope that in the future I can come back by myself. I think that It would be a unique experience and I would like to live alone.
On the other hand, the experience in Niagara Collage was also amazing. I met incredible and interesting people from other countries like Japan, Brazil and China. I learned a lot of things about Canada and life in general from my teacher Ally, Lou or Gillian. They are good people and I feel really happy to have met them.
PAULA CASAS DIAZ
Finally, I’m very lucky for this opportunity to meet incredible people, make new friends and get to know an amazing and beautiful country with really nice and polite people.
I hope to come back, I need to see all of these magnificent places, but snow. SEE YOU SOON CANADA!!
Although I’ve just made new friends, our
relationship has grown very close because we
spend a lot of time together to became really
good friends and this experience has brought
us together forever.
I always will remember my homestay ,
they are fun I live with a woman, her
daughter, two cats and a really big dog.
When we were having dinner it tried to
jump up on us. I got to know the homestay
families of the other Spanish students and
they all were very nice. They spent time
with me and it was a fun experience. We
didn’t stop all day and we were
busy everyday this month.
I think this is one of the most important
incredible experience in my life. This is
our last week here and I am a bit upset
because I like staying here; the people,
customs and cities, all are very different. I
acclimatized really quickly and the weeks
have flown.
ROCIO BESTEIRO
I will remember forever a lot of fantastic experiences here.
My favourite activity was in Niagara Falls, I loved it. It’s a natural
show. I went by boat near the falls and I was opposite them.
Then I had dinner at the casino’s buffet. The food was very delicious.
There’re a lot of stores too where I could buy some gifts for my family
and friends.
The village was touristic and very bright. It was like Las Vegas or
New York.
At the night, the falls had different colours and it was amazing.
Another great experience was my time staying here with my
homestay family. I was living with a Canadian woman, a Filipina
girl and a Japanese girl.
In general, everything was very nice.

I arrived in
Canada on the
13th of July. I had
a long trip and I
was very tired,
but nervous and
excited to know
the country, it’s
culture, it’s
people’ it’s food…
and of course to
learn English.
I was nervous
because I didn’t
know anybody
and my English
was poor. But
soon I meet a lot
of nice people and
both my teachers
and Canadian
family help me
with my English.
The Canadian
people are
friendly and very
polite. I like their
culture and their
habits, and I
really love their
food. I tried a lot
of typical
Canadian food
like peanut
butter, maple
syrup, BBQ and
poutine.
Going on this trip
has been positive.
I will never forget
this summer and
this month in
Canada.

This month in
Canada I have
lived new
experiences that
have made me feel
full of live. Visiting
Niagara Falls was
amazing because
of the bright
rainbow and the
sound of the water
falling. It’s in my
mind forever. We
visited Toronto too
and two friends
and I stayed a
night in this big
city. It had a lot of
lights and was full
of life both morning
and evening. We
went to Chinatown,
Kensington
Market, the CN
Tower and the
heart of the city
where there are a
lot of stores and
activities to do.
When a I arrived
here I was scared
because I didn’t
know anything
about the people,
the customs and
about my homestay
family, but
immediately I felt at
home and
everything was
easier.
I’m very happy to
have gotten to know
this fabulous country

exiting, amazing, and
it was so big. We had
a good time there.
During my month is

To my surprise
this trip to
Canada has
taught me,
Canadian don’t
use washing

everyday. We
use washing

Japan.
The best

I like Canada !!!
My favorite thing about Canada is
Niagara Falls.
It’s a very famous Canadian place and
has very clean air.
There visitors go to see the

When you watch the waterfall,
You get to see both the American and

My best experience in Canada was
when I went on the trip to Toronto.
The highest building in Toronto in the
CN tower.
There are streetcars that run there.
I saw many beautiful buildings in
Toronto.
I went to lunch at the Eaton’s Center.
There was the Japanese restaurant
there..
Of all the places in Canada that I have
visited, the best one was Toronto
because I rode the train.
There were no souvenirs in the city of
Toronto, so I went to the airport by
train and bus to buy some.
How to ride a subway was unlike
Japan.
There is a coin dedicated for use in the
subway in Toronto which is called a
token. You can buy one token for $ 3.
Just ahead of the security checkpoint
are tax-free shops.
So look for souvenirs at the airport, but
it was difficult.
I was able to buy a souvenir of Canada
safely.
To my surprise on this trip,
Canadian people have taught
me kindness.
People of Canada are
different, they are very kind.
They
talk to us politely even when
I do not understand.
I think Japanese people
I think the country of
Canada has a lot of
beautiful natural
scenery. Everything is
green, which is
completely different to
Tokyo.

the beautiful sky. Of all the places in Canada that I

because it is very spectacular.
Tianwei Zhang (Ian)
My favorite
thing about
Canada is
the nice
temperature.
The summer
temperature
is 35 degrees
in Japan. So
about 10
degrees
cooler in
Canada. It’s
very
comfortable
here.

Of all the
place in

My favorite place about
Canada was Niagara falls.
My best experience in Canada was
when I went to CCSwals.
The best food that I tried in Canada
was Canadian chicken.
Of all the places in Canada that I
visited the best one was Clifton Hill

The best memory that I will take
home with me is about my host
family.
I came to Canada for first time. We arrived
in Niagara college. There were many host
families. I was excited. My host family was
very kind. I was the first student for my
host family. My host family included: Steve,
Emily, and Jake. Emily is 14 years old.
Jake is 9years old. Everyday, I was happy.
Emily is a singer. I love Emily’s voice. I
think Emily is the one of best singers I have
heard. When I heard her song for the first
time, I cried. I have never cried before
listening to a song. Jake is a crazy boy, but
I had fun with him.
My host family often took
me out with them. We
went to Emily’s concert,
Niagara on the lake,
festival, Niagara falls, and
Marine
land.

I wanted to come to Canada
to see Niagara Falls or take
a ride in a convertible and
go to Wonderland.
I saw Niagara Falls by ship.
It was very beautiful and I
felt it’s power, and I had
never seen it before. My
heart was beating quickly. I
got soaked by the spray. I
wore a big rain jacket to
protect my body.
My host mother took me for
a ride in her white
convertible. It was very
cool!! In Japan, they rarely
open the roof , but in
Canada they do in the
summer. I could see the
scenery , which I would
not be able to in a
Japanese car. I was very
happy.
I went to Wonderland. It
was very exciting
because I like thrill
rides. There were more
thrill rides than in
Japan. I was even more
excited. I wanted to go
on
them
again!
Aina Nishibara
She is my Spanish.
Roommate, Laura.
My Best Friend.
When I first arrived in Canada I felt the road
conditions were not good. However, in Canada the air
is clean. I watched squirrels and rabbits every
morning. I feel that Canada is blessed with lots of
beautiful nature. You would never see a squirrel on a
road in Japan in the morning.
The best food that I tried
in Canada was pasta and
it tasted good. I had only
even eaten macaroni in
Japan , but I tried
different kinds of pasta
since I came to Canada.
My favorite thing
about Canada are
the sunsets, which
are so late in the day
because of thetime of
year.
This picture is 8PM.
My favourite thing
about Canada was swimming on the beach.
My best experience in Canada was when go to the
teacher’s home for lunch.
I wanted to come to Canada to see the Blue Jays play baseball.
During my month is Canada, I have learned to cook some Canada foods and learn English.
The best memory that I will take home with me are my memories of everything here in Canada.
GUANGYI XIA (Eric)
My favorite thing
My favorite thing about Canada were the streets,
because Canadian houses are so cute.
Canadians are very kind; people say hello when
they walk by.
My best experience
My best experience was with my homestay family.

serious and I was able to experience this style of
life.
The Best Canadian food
The best Canadian food that I tried was at Tim
Horton’s.
My favorite drink is hot chocolate and I really liked
the pecan nut muffin.
Impressions
I came abroad for the first time on this trip and
was able to learn how to adapt. In the beginning
everything was tense and I had to watch what I
did. I learned that I did not need to stress all the
time.
It was good that I didn’t want to return to
Japan immediately so I could have a good
experience and make new memories.
Momoka Maruta
I wanted to come to Canada to see The
Niagara Falls and to live with Canadian
family. Now, I am staying with the Gabel
Family. They are very kind to me.
My best experience in Canada was when I
rode The Niagara Cruise. I got very wet,
but, it was so exiting to be on the cruise. The
best food that I tried in Canada was
poutine. It thought that it tasted delicious.
Of all the places in Canada that I have
visited, the best one was Canada’s
Wonderland because I like riding a roller
coaster. Canada’s Wonderland has many
roller coasters more than U.S.J which is my
favorite Amusement park that I often go to
in Japan. I rode the Leviathan three times!!!
My favorite thing about Canada is the
kindness of the people. Canadians greet me
every morning when I am walking to go to
Niagara College.
I won’t forget these experiences.

The best food that

I wanted to come to
Canada to see the
Niagara Falls and study
English because Niagara
Falls is the biggest falls
in the world. I think
that I wanted study in
Canada for a long time.
My favorite
thing about
Canada was
that everything
was big. For
example, the
houses, shops,
roads, college
and even the
food. Canada
feels large and
free.
To my surprise this trip to Canada
has taught me not to be shy and not
to be afraid of making mistakes.
The best memory that I will take
home with me is my host family. My

When I first arrived in Canada I felt that
the nature was wonderful. There was
nature everywhere. I thought it was
wonderful.
I wanted to come to Canada to see
Niagara Falls.
My best experience in Canada was when
I looked at Niagara Falls from the boat.
There was a power you could feel from
the Falls, and I was very impressed. I
would like to see Niagara Falls again.
The best food that I tried in Canada was
Funnel cake and it tasted sweet and very
delicious. I ate Funnel cake for the first
time. That, and strawberries and the ice

My favorite thing about Canada is the

The best food that I tried in

My favorite thing about
Canada is the beautiful natural

The sky is beautiful and there
are many wild squirrels.
Risa Yamagishi
During my month in Canada, I
have learned English and a lot
about myself.
Of all the places in Canada that I
have visited, the best one was
Niagara Falls because it is so
famous.
To my surprise this trip
to Canada has taught me
everything is practice,

My favorite thing
about Canada was
going shopping.
They sell different
things from Japan
and some things
interested me a lot.
For example, the
clothes I felt were
basically cheaper
than Japan.
Canada has a lot of
simple , pretty
clothes.
I was surprised to
buy a pair of jeans for
$9.
When I first arrived
in Canada I felt
powerful and
cheerful .
I felt it on the day
when I first went to
the school.
The reason for this is
because my
grandmother .didn’t
know who There are
few such things in
Japan.
And a teachers at the
schools are very fine,
unlike Japan.
The classes in Japan
are severe and
formal, but Canada
are very fun.
I wanted to come to
Canada to see
Niagara Falls.
I looked in an English
textbook at the age of
a junior high student
for the first time.
I wanted to go look
and see it one day.
So I was glad to be
able to come and see
it for myself this time.
I saw Niagara Falls
for the first time and
the force of the Falls
was great, and the
view was very
beautiful.
My host family were
very kind, but they
worked a lot and
were busy.
We ate rice together
and when they came
home they would
talk to me a lot even
though I couldn’t say
too much in English.
Erika Kato
The first things we found
different was the schedule
of eating because in
Canada lunch is too early
and light and dinner is too
early and heavy.
In Spain, it is the
contrary, lunch is a large
meal and dinner is light.
We think that Spanish
food is better than
Canadian food, but the
other hand we tried
delicious traditional
Canadian food here. For
example, maple syrup,
corn, beat butter and toast
with bacon and ham. This
month we had a BBQ’s,
typical in Canadian
culture in the summer.
In China, we often eat
pork, we use chopsticks
and eat fried foods.
Cooking takes 2 or more
hours. It’s very complex.
Here in Canada, we often
eat beef, use a knife and
fork, eat roasted meals
and cooking is very easy

When we arrived in
Canada we realized
that Canadian people are very kind, they
try to help you
All the times
For example, in Japan
when you are walking on the street and
see someone you don’t know they
don’t greet you, but here in Canada
everyone says hello as you pass by.
In Canada it is different,
everybody speaks you and
greets you, and will help you if you ask.

She was a powerful and

Her class was very
plain. She is rich in
expression.
Our Teachers
We usually would go

Our school has many
foreign students.
In the morning, we
usually got up early.,
around 7am. , but the
