FROM THE PRESIDENT Diane Harley What an unusual year 2020 has been! I hope you have stayed virus-free, safe, and sane during the Covid pandemic. Even though it seemed like everything shut down, many projects happened at Old Falls Village during the past four months: 1) The "Reis Pavilion" was built south of the Depot, thanks to the generous donation from longtime members Joseph and Louise Reis. Richard Burgess was the mastermind behind the construction of the pavillion, and we couldn't have built it without his leadership. 2) The deteriorating ramp going up to the Miller Davidson House was removed, 3) a 1956 caboose was purchased and will be positioned near the Depot, 4) The Umhoefer, Sparrow, and Koch Houses were sealed, 5) benches were built by Bill Schulz and positioned around the park, 6) A "kegerator" was purchased for storing and serving beer at our beer gardens. Co-chairs Maria Pupak and Irene Lape did an excellent job with the Civil War Encampment on July 18 and 19. Their planning, organization, and flexibility helped make the event a big success! They humbly stated that the success was due to everybody's help, which is true. Thanks go to every single person who volunteered before, during, or after the event. Quarterly Meeting

Calling All Volunteers!!!!!!!!!We need volunteers to make all of our events possible. Examples of ways you can volunteer are in our kitchen, at admissions, even being a docent in one of our many houses. We cannot have events, or keep the houses open for people to visit if our wonderful volunteers do not continue the work they do. Thank you to those that have volunteered in the past. Those of you who are interested in volunteering please contact the historical society either by phone (262-250-3901), or via email ([email protected]). Also if you know of anyone else who would be interested please pass along the information!

Articles to watch forNext newsletter keep an eye out for an article featuring Andrew Schuman the wonderful boy-scout who built our beautiful new firepit!

Flower Garden UpdateThe Butterfly Garden has been moved to the south end of the Miller Davidson

House, plants are being added to create a beautiful area. Thank you to Deb Schultz for donating Butterfly Weed. Some 4 legged visitors have munched on several plants, always a challenge for gardeners. The squirrels have planted black walnuts, which are thriving. Sunflowers are once again growing on the south side of the barn (Thanks Deb), the hollyhocks are colorful on the east side of the barn, they also have attracted Japanese Beetles. The herb garden has been moved to the Umhoefer Cabin, the School House, Steichen House, and Koch House are all looking very happy with flowers blooming. We hope you get a chance to come and see how the grounds at Old Falls Village are thriving. --Marlene Fay

Covid 19 PrecautionsPlease see the image below to see the precautions we are taking for Covid-19. If you are in a higher risk group consider staying home. Please do not come to the park if you are sick.
