From the desk of the President & CEO
Greetings Members, I have been lucky enough to work in the Chamber world for almost 10 years! Each year has been a blessing with new ac-complishments and obstacles. When we moved to Grants Pass from Laramie, Wyoming, I was nervous starting in a new town and a new Chamber. I was very pleased to find that this Chamber is very similar to the one I worked for in Laramie. Each Cham-ber I have represented has a strong reputation in the community with standing principles upheld. Each decision made revolves around if it will be beneficial to our business community. As a Chamber, we are approached with a lot of projects and requests. We don’t take these decisions lightly. We have to remember we have over 600 members that we represent. Each decision we make, we ask ourselves if it meets our core Mission: supporting and promoting our local commerce through commu-nication, advocacy and partnerships! We are a non-profit with limited staff, and I think you will find we are very resourceful with great partnerships. With limited time and limited funds, we make a lot happen! We have been blessed with a lot of support from our local businesses and amazing volunteers to be able to represent these businesses and continue to fight for our community. It makes this job very rewarding. 2019 was a very successful year for the Grants Pass & Jo-sephine County Chamber of Commerce with a lot of big celebra-tions. Two of our bigger accomplishments included starting the first Young Professionals Network in Josephine County and host-ing the Ambassador Convention for the entire State. From all of us at the Chamber of Commerce, we cannot thank you enough for making 2019 a great year! We are looking forward to 2020 and will continue to support our mission!
Cheers to 2020 and we wish all of our members continued success!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Josie Molloy

Operation Joy is a program designed to provide those in our local assisted liv-ing facilities with Holiday Cards from
our community and bring Holiday Joy to some-one’s room. The Chamber is gearing up to verify lists of participating facilities with residents first name. Operation Joy lists will be avail-able Mid November. If you have a collection of unused cards and are not planning to use them, or want to purchase cards and donate, then drop them off at the Chamber Office and we will put them to good use. We give these cards to the various groups who want to participate. Now is the time to get your group ready for Operation Joy. You can take all the lists or just one or two. Call the Chamber at (541) 476-7717 or stop by The Chamber Visi-tors Center at 1995 NW Vine St. at Morgan Lane & 6th for details on Operation Joy.

The holidays are truly the busiest time of the year, and here at Sandi's Candies & Fudgery that statement is exceptionally
true! Along with our normal holiday rou-tine, we also are always involved in giv-ing back to our community. Nothing raises our holiday Spirit like seeing our community come together to give out of the goodness of their hearts. This year marks the 10th year that Josephine County has been involved in Stockings for Soldiers. However, this year is different for a very special reason. We have 750 local Oregon men and women deploying before the end of this year. Guess what our goal is - to ship 750 Stockings over to them! The last few years our fundraiser was wildly successful. For a $5 donation any person can receive one entry form. Come look at our window to see the fabulous prizes, including a gas grill, a handmade American quilt, and many local gift certificates. The winner will be drawn on Sat-urday, December 14, 2019 at the end of the business day. Please be certain to make your donation prior to that date. While in the shop you will see many of our Christmas seasonal holiday confec-tions. With all our everyday favorites, we will be featuring three of our fabulous Holiday

fudge flavors Peppermint Snowflake, Divin-ity Nut and our famous Pumpkin. If you have not tried these flavors, you are really missing a treat for your taste buds. As well we have so many wonderful holiday gifts and goodies like our chocolate dipped oreo ornaments, Gour-
met Cotton Candy, old fashioned ribbon can-dies, peppermint bark and fudge logs. We also have a nice variety of Sugar Free chocolates. Truly we have something for everyone in our shop. We feel so blessed to have been a part of the Grants Pass community for so many years. December 1 marked our 15th year at our 145 SW G Street location.
We wish each of you all the hope, wonder and joy that this season can bring.
From our family to yours,

Fire Safetyduring Winter Storms
Fire Safetyduring Winter Storms
Winter storms can happen almost anywhere. They can cause us problems. Know what to do before, during and after a storm. This will help keep you and your family safe from a winter fire.KKK Test all smoke alarms. Do this at least once a month.
This way you will know they are working. Install carbon monoxide alarms in your home. Test the alarms.
KKK Plan two ways out of the home in case of an emergency. Clear driveway and front walk of ice and snow. This will provide easy access to your home.
KKK Make sure your house number can be seen from the street. If you need help, firefighters will be able to
find you.
KKK Be ready in case the power goes out. Have flashlights on hand. Also have battery-powered lighting and fresh batteries. Never use candles.
KKK Stay aware of winter weather. Listen to the television or radio for updates. Watch for bulletins online.
KKK Check on neighbors. Check on others who may need help.
KKK Generators should be used outdoors. Keep them away from windows and doors. Do not run a generator inside your garage, even if the door is open.
KKK Stay away from downed wires. Report any downed wires to authorities.
KKK Be ready if the heat stops working. Use extra layers of clothes and blankets to stay warm. If you use an emergency heat source, keep anything that can burn
at least 3 feet away.
KKK Turn portable heaters off when you leave the room. Turn them off when you go to bed.
important reminderThere are more home fires in winter than in any other season. Half of all home heating fires happen in December, Januaryand February.
As you stay cozyand warm thiswinter season,be fire smart!
