Highlights of the MATC Festival Planning and working on the annual festival takes a year. The hard work begins Wednesday morning. The first trip Terry hauled the club trailer and I hauled our Gibson to the fairgrounds. Unloading the tables and chairs in the Star- bird Building is hard work. For some reason those tables get heavier and heavier each year. The final trip Thursday Terry hauled our camper and I hauled our Gator. Over the years the festival has become a happy and a sad time. It’s always happy to see the members, some we only see once a year. It’s sad to think about the members who are no longer able to be with us or who have passed away. It was a busy 3 days. In all I did 43 new and renewal memberships. In addition I sold 16 shingles with the MATC logo branded on them. Thanks to the work done by Ric Parady and Ron Winship on the progressive drag, it worked great with only one minor problem. It’s fun watch- ing the doodle bug pull. The pullers work as a team and have fun doing it. I always miss the charity auction Sunday after- noon. The bidders go home with less money and some neat items. Some must really like pie. Thanks, Pam Vaillancourt, for all you do to make this charity fundraiser such a success. If we didn’t have some hard working members, we wouldn’t have a festival. Thanks, everyone. This year Debbie Rivard worked really hard on the flea market. When she handed her money over to Terry each afternoon, it was all counted. Mike Rivard was kept busy doing many different things. Eunice Michaud, Rita Fitzsimmons, and Joan & Eugene Alley spent their days at the sales table with very few breaks. Terry and www.MaineAntiqueTractorClub.com JULY 2014 MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT Greetings to all our members: Our biggest event of the year is over. We had an interesting show at our festival even if some changes in our event schedule were made that changed some starting times, we now have an opportunity to review and plan for our next festival in 2015. Our land in Norridgewock is progressing and our August 3rd meeting is to be held at the Club House in Norridgewock. I hope this meeting will be a chance for our members to contribute some ideas and thoughts about the land. We have a long hard road ahead to make it happen, but I think we can do it. Keep them tractors rolling. —Bob Clark, President PRESIDENT Bob Clark 634 Sandy River Rd, Starks, ME 04911 (207) 696-3698 VICE PRESIDENT Matthew Hunter 17 Nash Drive, Chelsea, ME 04330 (207) 622-6608 • [email protected] SECRETARY Harriet Spencer 35 N Shore Dr, Smithfield, ME 04978 (207) 362-3351 • [email protected] TREASURER Terry Spencer 35 N Shore Dr, Smithfield, ME 04978 (207) 362-3351 • [email protected] NEWSLETTER EDITOR Jennifer Libby 220 Eames Rd, Winslow, ME 04901 [email protected] WEBMASTER Burl Ewell 48 Serenity Dr, W. FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTSOur 2014 Tractor Festival has come and gone for another year. We lucked out with the weather, no rain storms this year, and it was hot all three days. Many thanks to all members who work very hard to put this show on and and it takes good team work to make it successful. Everyone works together, helping and supporting each other in whatever the task is that has to be accomplished. The charity this year was for the Maine Lung Association in honor of Dick Larrivee, who along with his wife, Martha, was chairman of the festival for many years and a faithful member of MATC. Dick and Martha worked many hours for the good of the Club. We extend our thanks to Pam Vaillencourt and Barbara Jordan for their dedication to organizing the charity event each year. We also extend our thanks to the Antique Tractor and Lawn and Garden Pulling Committee’s for their dedication and hard work putting on the pulls during the show, the pedal tractor pull for the kiddies, doodle bug pull, to all of the in field demonstrations, gate people, sales table, flea market, our Secretary and Treasurer, Festival Chairman, Judy Adams for the photo’s she takes and puts on the website, all of the vendors, and to all of the folks that brought their tractors and put them in the line up for everyone to enjoy. My thanks to all the campers who faithfully come every year and to the new ones that come in each year, I enjoy visiting with you and look forward to seeing you again next year.

The next Festival Meeting will be on August 6th at 7 pm, the first Wednesday of the month, at the Club House in Norridgewock. Take care of yourself and each other.

Submitted by Judy Fairbanks

MATC President Bob Clark, Martha Larrivee, and Pam Vaillancourt.

With $704.00 donated by tractor drivers from the “Hook Fee Pull” Friday evening, items donated from our inside and

outside vendors, club sponsors, cash donations and homemade pies entered into the Pie Baking Contest for the Sunday

afternoon auction, the Maine Antique Tractor Club has had another successful charitable fundraiser. $2429.00 will be donated by the MATC to the Maine Lung Association in

Memory of Dick Larrivee. This is only possible as a result of the generosity of our club members, their families and friends.

A gigantic “Thank You” to all for making this happen!

Photos from the Festival are on the photo Album page, along with a local paper article. Many thanks to Judy Adams for all the great pictures!
