important, one of the races in Arizona that does not get muchattention is the election of new members to the Central ArizonaWater Conservation District Board of Directors. There is an articleelsewhere in the newsletter that addresses this important election. Your vote counts. Please find time to vote.

Trout-In-the-Classroom (TIC) Program

As reported in the last newsletter, the Arizona TIC Program hasincreased rapidly over the past three years. The Zane Grey Chapteris responsible for 20 of the 29 schools currently participating in theprogram. Eggs were picked up at the Sterling Springs Hatchery in Sedonaearly on September 21st and delivered to the participating schoolsthat day. Reports from the schools are very positive and filled withexcitement about the eggs hatching and small fish (alevins) nowswimming around the tank.

The November 3rd board meeting will be highlighted by apresentation by Sarah Luna with WRAN and Arizona Audubon. Thepresentation and meeting will be held at 7:00p.m. at Bass Pro Shop,1133 N. Dobson Road, Mesa on the second floor in the smallconference room.

A Little Known Election

Various elections are competing for ourattention. On the ballot is an importantrace that will impact 85% of Arizona'spopulation - the management of theCentral Arizona Project (CAP) the source

of our water. Information on the role these elected officials will haveand the candidates seeking a board position can be found at theArizona Municipal Water Users Association at AMWUA. Please be aninformed voter in this important race.

Arizona TU Receives NationalAward

The Arizona TU Council has received anational award for its long record ofconservation successes. The StateCouncil Award for Excellence is TU's

highest award for state TU organizations.

During the 2016 awards ceremony, the presenter, Mick McCorcle,National Leadership Chair (NLC), mentioned that choosing winners

Arizona Trout Challenge

Arizona's Trout Challenge Programwas developed to encourage anglers tolearn more about fishing opportunities inthe state.

Arizona Game and Fish Departmentmanages many waters statewide toprovide anglers the opportunity to catch

several different species of trout, including two found only in theSouthwest - the Apache Trout and Gila Trout.

ORVIS Store Relocates toPhoenix

If you heard that our friends at Orvishave a new location then you have heardright. The store has relocated to 2011

East Camelback Road, Phoenix, 602-626-7558. The store is havinga Grand Opening from November 4 - 6 with opportunities fordrawings and other activities. In support of what we do, a portion oftheir proceeds will be donated to Zane Grey TU and the WhiteMountain Lakes Foundation. Four Forest RestorationInitiative (4FRI) RimCountry EIS Launched
