In Arizona we are fortunate to have 22 sites to enjoy and share with millions from around the world. We have included links in several articles to provide information on the sites that are accessible to us to enjoy. Many have stated "public lands are the best idea America ever had". For those who want to fish, camp, hunt and hike they are in full agreement. Unfortunately, there are movements continuing about transferring or divesting public lands to individual states claiming that the states would do a better job managing these lands. Trout-In-the-Classroom (TIC) Program

The Arizona TIC Program has rapidly increased over the past threeyears. In 2015 there were 3 schools, 17 in 2015 and for theupcoming 2016 - 2017 school year 29 schools are participating. Ofthe 29 schools, the Zane Grey Chapter will be responsible for 20schools. This dramatic expansion has been due to the cooperation of TroutUnlimited, Arizona Game and Fish Department and large grantsprovided from the Arizona Sportsmen for Wildlife Conservation(AZSFWC) license plate program.

On August 13th a day-long workshop was attended by 45 teachersand volunteers to prepare for the upcoming school year. Over thenext several weeks aquariums, equipment and water levels will beset up awaiting the arrival of 100 rainbow trout eggs for each schoolin mid-September. Needless to say, excitement is already high foreveryone - especially the students. This year student involvement is expected to exceed 4,000 studentsand over an additional 10,000 people will experience the programthrough visits by parents, school administrators and guests to theclassrooms.

Public Lands Belong to Us

In recent years, more than 50 short-sighted bills have beenintroduced in state legislatures to transfer, sell, or otherwise takeaway our birthright - the public lands that are managed for us by the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management.

Not to be outdone, Congress has entertained similar proposals. Asmuch as we'd all like to think "that can't happen," the fact is thatthere are special interests dedicated to seeing that it does.

We encourage you to watch this short video on what public landsmean to us. Additional information can be found at http://www.tu.org/public-lands-action.
