METTLER TOLEDO Process Control solutions include Weighing Terminals and Weigh Modules for tank, hopper and silo scales. These provide batching, mixing and filling solutions from milligrams up to 300 tons help to increase accuracy and throughput to your material transfer processes. METTLER TOLEDO weigh module technology and designs assure you of greater safety and increased uptime.

We offer simple weight transmitters with analog or fieldbus interfaces for easy integration into your automation system. More advanced weighing terminals provide semi-automatic or automatic material transfer control with stored recipes.

METTLER TOLEDO weigh modules and load cells are designed to yield maximum accuracy even under difficult process weighing conditions. Applications include a variety of process vessels, silos and tanks, as well as equipment conveyors that are part of a production machine. The innovative design of our weigh modules allows rapid, low-cost installation and provides precise rets even in harsh, wet, and corrosive environments

New innovations include the PowerMount cells that offer high accuracy, resistance to electrical disturbances, and advanced diagnostics. This digital technology provides the accuracy and reliability needed to produce high-quality batches consistently. Automatic digital compensation maintains a high degree of weighing accuracy. The load cell network increases reliability by eliminating troublesome junction boxes. A built-in diagnostic system monitors load cell performance and alerts the scale operator if maintenance is needed.

The MultiMount™ weigh module is designed to provide safe and accurate weighing in all types of static and dynamic applications. These weigh modules let you add weighing capabilities to your process by converting a tank, conveyor or other structure into a scale. They are designed for static and dynamic applications with no compromise on safety – all safety features are standard, including FM and ATEX Approvals.

MultiMount weigh modules are equipped with 360-degree checking to limit horizontal movement while allowing for thermal expansion and contraction. A vertical downstop supports the full weight of the loaded scale in case of catastrophic load cell failure.

SafeLockTM permits safe and easy installation, while horizontal restraints, lift-off protection and vertical down-stops prevent unwanted movements or deviations.

PinMount™ PowerMount weigh modules provide highest accuracy and reliability. They can monitor individual single load cells on a tank for overload, temperature, breach, zero drift etc. and enable reaction before system shuts down or measures incorrectly. They are designed for static and dynamic applications where loading involves horizontal forces. Capacities ranging from 7.5 to 100t let you safely weigh even the largest of tanks.

Efficient transfer of weighing process data to higher level Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems makes manufacturing processes more efficient and transparent. Increased transparency can improve asset use, reduce operating costs, and make complying with certification standards or industrial regulations easier.

The accuracy of METTLER TOLEDO weighing measurements is supported by a wide variety of communication standards, from USB, RS232/485, EtherNet TCP/IP and 4-20ma analog outputs, to more complex industrial communication busses such as EtherNet/IP™, ControlNet™, DeviceNet™, Profibus® DP, or ModBus/ TCP.

METTLER TOLEDO has integrated various specific functions in our process weighing solutions to improve not only the weighing precision but also to speed up and simplify installation, operations and maintenance procedures.

Traditional vibration filtering common in weighing terminals is no more than an averager with a few fixed settings. Such filters are slow to respond to changes in weight simply because they take the average of a fixed number of weight samples to derive the stable weight.

TraxDSP™ is a combination of multi-stage filters to filter out background noise and vibration. The system constantly and rapidly tracks and produces filtered weight data that represents the true weight portion of the load cell signal.

While most weighing systems are quite reliable, having the assurance that should a condition be detected that could compromise weighing performance can help maximize uptime, quality, and productivity.

A broken or damaged load cell can be impossible to detect or predict. Only once batches start appearing out of specification or the weighing results appears unstable do you get an idea that there might be a problem. This is where TraxEMT™ can help. TraxEMT is a Mettler Toledo technology that continuously monitors system performance and alerts the operator in the event of a potential weighing failure. With its predictive failure analysis and Run Flat system failure recovery embedded technology your productivity and product quality will not suffer.

Calibration of large vessels and tanks can be difficult given the need for hanging test weights on the side of the tank, or using material substitution calibration methods. For systems where very high levels of accuracy are not required a electronic calibration using factory calibrated load cell values along with an tight tolerance on the weighing terminal electronics allows for calibration without test weights.

CalFREE™ is a combination of equipment functionality, calibration methods and factory quality assurance that enables calibration without test weights.

The new IND570 weighing terminal with advanced filling software provides a powerful solution for a variety of automatic and semi-automatic material transfer applications. This can include filling, dosing, or blending of up to 6 materials. Features such as learn mode, auto spill adjust, automatic refill help maximize productivity. Pac performance statistics provide a convenient summary report of the operational performance, available for viewing on the terminal HMI or can be exported via an Ethernet TCP connection or USB memory stick.

The IND780batch controller combines advanced batching control technology with the powerful features of the IND780 terminal. Engineered for the Food, Specialty Chemical, Plastics, Glass and Aggregates batching and formulation market, the IND780batch works as a stand-alone terminal for single scale, multi scale, or flow meter applications. In even more demanding applications, IND780batch can use advanced predictive adaptive control algorithms for superb accuracy and throughput.

A typical integrated application includes an IND570 weighing terminal integrated into via EtherNet/IP to a Rockwell Automation programmable controller. Control of the material delivery I/O can either be via the on-board weighing terminal I/O, or via I/O connected to the programmable controller.

For Zone 1 / Div 1 applications a fiber optic or current loop connection to a communication module in the safe area can be provided. In this scenario an intrinsically safe IND560x weighing terminal is connected to hazardous area approved valves, and a remote display with operator controls, as well as PC and printer, located in the safe area.
