• 16 of 24 Ballast Blocks completed

• Each Ballast Block weighs 200 Tonnes

• Each Substructure has 6 Ballast Blocks – total Ballast weight 1200 Tonnes

• Most cost effective design uses steel plates “as cast” and bolted together.

• Design life of 25 years required steel plates to be cladded to prevent water ingress. Ballast Blocks at JGC Fabrication Facility in

Janetstown, Thurso.
