Chamber of Commerce Meeting

April 6, 2016

Present: Dena Beck, Marcy Brandt, Erica Hansen, Janene Hill, Sally Jurgensmier, Joelle Knott, Kevin Krull, Carol Loschen, Jordon Patterson, Don Phillips and Chamber Director Marcia Davis.

Absent: Dena Beck, Natalie Janda and Jeanne Jons were absent.

Meeting was called to order at 12:05 p.m. by President Marcy Brandt.

Kevin Krull moved to approve the March Secretary minutes and current Treasurer report as submitted. Janene Hill sec-ond, motion approved.

Old Business

I. 2016 Partnership Recruitment: Marcia Davis reported that the campaign is going well to date 95 members have renewed and 3 new members have joined. A total of $19,150.00 has been received in due for the 2016 renewal campaign. Board member reviewed the mailing list and were encouraged to remind owners and businesses of the benefits of Chamber.

II. Blue Jeans and BBQ: Marcy, Sally and Marcia reported that the event was a success and updated Board members on financials. The committee has met and suggestions for the next event were discussed.

III. Chamber Visits: Marcy Brandt reported on a few of the Chamber visits that have been conducted by Marcia Davis, Kevin Krull and herself. Discussion was held on how the Chamber can help the Minden Business Community stand out and grow. Discussion items included sponsoring a Job Fair, promotion of joint advertising through the Kearney Hub for Chamber Sponsored community events, bringing back a “Shop Minden” campaign, engaging a promotional speaker for one of the quarterly luncheons who would bring fresh ideas for marketing our local businesses.

IV. Community Calendar: Janene Hill has sent out the Webinar link. The matter was tabled until members had a chance to review the link.

New Business

I. June 25th, 2016 Street Dance: – Marcia Davis and Don Phillips reported that the band “Groove Puppet” has contracted for the event. An admission price was set at $10.00 for the dance.

II. Office Closings: – Marcia Davis reported that the Chamber Office will be closed on May 5th and May 10th.

III. Budget Filing: Marcy Brandt reported that a budget request will be turned into the City of Minden for 2016/2017.

I assume all risks associated with running in this event, including but no limited to: falls, contact with other participants, the effects of the weather, including high heat and/or humidity, traffic

blades, animals, and personal music players are not allowed in the race and I will abide by all race rules. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts and inconsideration of your accepting my entry, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release The Minden Sprint Triathlon committee,

the city of Minden, Kearney County and their representatives and successors from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this

event, even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons named in this waiver. I grant permission to all of the foregoing to use my photographs, motion pictures, recordings or any other record of this event for any legitimate purpose.
