Summary

MicroEchem meeting was carried out for the fourth consecutive year in 2016; thesemeetingshavebeenfocusedondisseminatingknowledgeinareasrelatedwithMolecularElectrochemistry and its study for the understanding of electrochemical processes. Thisyear, MicroEchem meeting became partnered with the second Energy StorageDiscussions,originallytakingplacein2014,whichhasbeenaforumofanalysisofdifferentaspectsofenergystorage.Thisjointeventhighlightedtopicsrelatedwithelectrochemicaland other energy storage devices, preserving the emphasis of discussions from amolecularpointofview, includingmodelingofprocessesalongwithmaterialevaluationanddesign.Themaintopicscoveredinthismeetingwere:batteryconcepts,materialsandtheircharacterization,modellingofenergystoragesystems,andenergystoragesystemsforautomotive,mobileandstationaryapplications.We thank both sincerely and deeply to the kind acceptance and disposition of all thekeynoteandinvitedlecturers:Prof.Jean-MichelSavéant,Prof.Marie-LiesseDoublet,Prof.Ezequiel Leiva, Prof. Mark Pritzker, Prof. Alejandro A. Franco, Dr. Johanna Nelson, Dr.HolgerSchneider,andDr.IssisC.Romero.Asinpreviousoccasions,theprogramincludedoral and poster presentations, as it has become clearly that this forum allows toparticipants for discussing theirwork and share it with the invitees. As intended by itsoriginal conception,MicroEchemmeetingsprovide an alternative and specialized forumfortheMexicancommunityworkingwithElectrochemistry. In addition, we would like to thank CIDETEQ-México, who helped with all theadministrative affairs of this event, along with Luz María Pérez from Hotel Misión LaMuralla, whichprovides us againwith a beautiful venuewherepeople can gain a hugeglimpse of the Mexican atmosphere! We also thank our sponsors, which again havetrusted inus fordevelopingthisevent, includingMetrohm-Mexico,SAIDE,SAIDESA,andto the Regional SectionMexico of the International Society of Electrochemistry, whichagainisinstrumentalindevelopingthisevent.Also,thekindconsiderationofprovidingaSpecialIssueofElectrochimicaActadevotedtothemeetingbyProf.SergioTrasatti,thatwillprovideafineselectionofworksforfuturereference.
