What kind of schooling is required to get this type of job?I enrolled for culinary classes when I started going to school, you start with basic skills, how use a knife, how to flip an egg and things that seemed silly at first, I had to take classes on cheeses, herbs, how to clean and cut meats, things that came in very handy once I moved to advanced classes, as I was getting ready to graduate I was approached by the head of pastry and she invited me to some of her classes and I fell in love with pastry, we baked cookies, and plated fancy desserts but my favorite thing was to decorate cakes.

4. If students are interested in this career while in middle school, what steps can they take to get some skills and experience? Start cooking at home, you don’t have to cook a 5 course meal, better yet, cook eggs, make salads, play with ingredients you might have at home. Once you’re old enough get a part time job in a food related establishment.

What kinds of different jobs are available in this field?The options are infinitive, chain restaurants are not the only places where you can apply you culinary knowledge, you could work in hospitals, private homes, casinos, schools, concert arenas, convention centers, banquet driven concepts. .you could open your own restaurant! The opportunities are endless since people will always have the need for food.
