Tremendous Turn-Out for March MVCA Recertification! Thanks to all who attended last month’s meet-ing. We had a great turnout for our Annual “Fair Claims Settlement Practices Act” Certification presentation, given by Attorney Mark Berry of Mayall Hurley Knutsen Smith & Green. We ap-preciate Mr. Berry returning to the Mid Valley Claims Association for this annual recertification seminar. Attorney Berry has given his presenta-tion to our association for more than 10 years, keeping us current to the states regulations. Berry stated “we should all know what is required of us as this is nothing new”. The regulations have been set forth for a number of years. In closing Attorney Mark Berry repeatedly stated “always follow your company’s guidelines and to treat each claim as if they were your own”.This month, we have a new and exciting presentation. We welcome guest speakers, Robert Marty and William Little, of Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. Mr. Marty will be speaking on various issues relating to environmental testing and drug lab sampling as well as managing asbestos clean-up. This is sure to be a presentation you won’t want to miss. The Mid-Valley Claims Association’s 50th Annual Golf Tournament is un-
derway. Please be on the look out for the event flyer. There are still sponsorships available. This year’s theme is “Rockin Around 18 Holes” bringing you back to those Fabulous 50’s. I look forward to seeing you all on April 17th.

The Mid Valley Claims Association featured the return attorney Mark Berry, of Mayall, Hurley, Smith & Green, for his yearly Recertification Seminar at the March 20, 2015 gathering at Papapavlo’s in Stockton. The Luncheon was well-attended by a rather friendly crowd. Mr. Berry's introduction remarks were "the good news is there are no substantial changes".All Claims people must re-certify themselves annually that they have read and understand the requirements of the California Insurance Code, Sections 2695.1 through 2594.14, relative to Code Section 790-03(h).Mr. Berry gave a very thorough presentation, with slides on the regula-tions. He was able to highlight many of the potential pitfalls claims people often incur; while focusing on important time lines that must be met, and properly informing claiments/insureds of their rights and ability to contact CDI directly. He advised the audience to "always follow your company guidelines and treat the claim as if it were your own”. Past President of Mid Valley Claims, Sherry Wenograd, of Frontier Adjusters, personally thanked Mark for the last ten years of his dedi-cation to serve the Mid Valley Claims Association.
