H e l l o K e y C l u b b e r s ! It is finally the Spring semester! This means we only have a few months left in the 2009-2010 Key

Club year! Even though we had less time than last semester, we will implement a greater impact in our

community and the world as a whole.

In January, we wrapped up the first semester, and with the February 11 meeting, we will start the new

semester contributing our time for the most critical of situations, such as the Haiti Earthquakes.

Key Club meetings always had high attendances last semester and we hope to continue that this

Spring. As schedules change, some of you may not be able to attend the meetings. That does not mean

you cannot be a part of Key Club! Member participation is usually less in the Spring than in the Winter,

but you guys can change that.

Keep up with the club through emails and the blogspot. If you want to know about the latest

projects, do not hesitate to email us and ask. If you cannot attend the period 10 or 11 meetings, feel free

to stop by room 245, period 9, and find out about the agenda of the meeting.

Keep in mind, there is no meetings period 9, so you will not be

getting attendance credit for just coming in period 9. This is solution

is for those members who have practice or work.

The Spring semester is filled with events and projects that you all

can look forward to. Don't forget convention (or Leadership

Training Conference 2010). Now that we have a way to fundraise for

our events, members will be able to legitimately ask people for

donations.

I am very optimistic about our upcoming events and look

forward to start working with all of you again!

Remember, the officers are there to provide you with the

information that you need, do not hesitate to approach us!

Yours in service,

Anum Facebook

H e y K e y C l u b b e r s! This is Fiona, your club treasurer.

I am so glad to be a part of Key Club: to give back to the community and

help the people who really need it.

Key Club has always been one of my highest priorities. I love the feeling of

knowing that something I did helped someone. Key Club has opened my eyes:

showing me that I am lucky for a lot of things that I have and things I take for

granted, which is why I want to give back.

You guys truly have no idea how much every little thing you guys are doing

is helping someone in this world no matter what event or project we do, or how

small it is, it truly is a tremendous help to people who need it.

We have had a good turnout this year of dedicated members in the club.

We just hope to see more members join the club and for more to realize that this

isn't like any other club to get credit for, but to help those in need and volunteer

at events such as walks and events such as the Fort Hamilton Holiday Party.

Just recently, tragedy has struck Haiti; we as a club are trying our best to

help them with donations by asking for donations in turn for a “help Haiti, save

Haiti bracelet.”

We have so much more events coming up to help out more people out there

so keep up the good work everyone, and remember every little bit helps.

Your Treasurer,

Fiona Facebook

“Member Highlights is exclusively a page to exemplify four Key Clubbers who shows great

dedication for the club and takes an extra step when it comes to service and volunteering. You

are probably thinking to yourself, “I will never have that opportunity because I don’t have the

time to do everything in Key Club.” Well you are wrong, to be member of the month, you

don’t’ have to commit your daily lives to Key Club. During events, stand out and you will be

able to catch the attention of the officers. It is not about knowing that you did everything that

makes member of the month; it is that we feel you were using your unselfish heart to help

another person in need.

“At first, I joined Key Club to earn service credits, but as

weeks passed by, I realized that my purpose for continuing to

be in this club has changed. I am now a member of Key Club

to help and support many people around the world.

While Key Club allows me to make new friends and meet

new people, it also gives me the opportunity to get involved in

my community and being able to help others that are in need

through the activities that we do.

I am proud to be an active member of Key Club because I

am making a difference in someone’s life.”

“ I saw how bad people have it in Africa and it made me realize how

lucky I am, so I decided to help them in the most convenient way:

joining Key Club.

Key Club is important to me because it makes me feel like I’m doing

something to help those less fortunate than me.

Being a Key Clubber makes me feel happy because I am doing

something to make the lives of others easier, no matter how little or

how much I am doing.”

Great Job! To all those members who attended the Key

Club Divisional at Edward R. Murrow Highschool. The

weather was great; most of us played handball or football at the

field after class and then walked down the block together to

divisional.

At this divisional, we set the record for the highest

attendance out of all the schools and history of Midwood’s

attendance at divisionals. We had roughly 99 out of 150

members at this divisional, this shows how much we care about

the club and school pride to show that we can do it better than

them. Lieutenant Governor Tiffany Kwong was also proud of the high attendance that she received at this divisional.

At this divisional, Tiffany discussed many insights she had for the last few month as being LTG. She announced

great news of running for Governor, the highest officer position in Key Club. If she wins, she’ll take the position of

Allen Yu, taking over the responsibility of looking over not only clubs in Brooklyn but the whole New York State.

Brooklyn Tech Club President is making an Ice Skating event

attempting to fundraise for Make a Wish Foundation. The Ice

Skating event will be held at Aviator Skating Rink with a admission

of $15 per person. The profit will be donated to “Make a Wish

Foundation” which helps grant “wishes” to those children with

medical disabilities. Ice Skating at other places are about the same

price so why not give the money to a good cause and come down to

come down and have a great time with all your friends and fellow

Key Clubbers.

Division 9 will be holding a fundraising event in behalf of

“Save the Music Foundation” which is called “Battle of the Bands.”

All schools are invited to attend this event including their school

bands. “Save the Music Foundation” is a non profit organization that helps put music education back and into schools

that don’t have the financial ability to maintain a music program. The foundation will donate them money, instruments,

or any music material to maintain a music program.

A new Key Club year will begin in April after Convention; this means we will need to elect a new Lieutenant

Governor. All Key Clubbers are eligible to apply for this

position but you will be going through a interview with

Tiffany and Mr. Gioia to see if you are qualified for this

position. It requires full commitment and a lot of

socializing time with friends.

What we are all excited about will be the 62nd Annual

Leadership Training Conference taking place in upstate New

York. You will have a great time meeting Key Clubbers from

all over the state and your leaders that help make Key Club

helpful and enjoyable at the same time.
