Jane Moore was the third-fastest woman in the10-kilometre walk at last weekend’s Kitchener-Waterloo Walking Classic, the top finisher of nineOakville racewalkers from Canada Fit at the event.
Moore finished the 10K walk in a time of 1:12.Sheila Farah and Jennifer Ristok followed withtimes of 1:13 to win their age/gender categories,while Tina Stewartwon her division with a time of1:14. Kathleen Moro crossed the finish line a
minute later to place second in her division.Elizabeth Evans competed the 5K walk in 40:20
to place second in her division. Pat Dos Santos,Karyn Ristok and Tiffany Petty all posted personal-best times in the 10K race.
The Canada Fit Walking Team is coached byPam Elliot and Jennifer Ristok. The event benefit-ed Minds in Motion, raising money for WaterlooRegional Homes for Mental Health Inc.

Local girls help Erin Millsto U11 league soccer title
Four Oakville girls recently helpedtheir Erin Mills under-11 A squad to theSouth Region Soccer League champi-onship.
Sarah Nixon, Victoria Gregatti, JaelyneKirkpatrick and Megan Segeren (abovephoto, left to right) played key roles inErin Mills’ 2-0 win over Brams United inthe championship game at Mississauga’sHershey Centre. Erin Mills finished theseason with a 12-3 record, won the EagleCup Tournament and Oakville IndoorSoccer Tournament, and reached thefinals of West Niagara and Laval tourneys.
Peewee Hornets dominate
Scoring 43 goals and not allowing any,the Oakville peewee A Hornets rocked thecompetition at the recent Ohio FlamesTournament in Cleveland.
Oakville hammered the host Flames11-0 in the championship game to lock upthe gold in the under-12 Tier 2 division.

Silver for minor atom Rangers
After winning their first three gamesand placing first in the preliminary-roundstandings, the Oakville minor atom AE(additional entry) Rangers were forced tosettle for silver in the recent RichmondHill Stars Tournament.
Oakville defeated the GeorgetownRaiders 4-1, Aurora Tigers 5-1 andRichmond Hill Kings 2-0 to start the tour-nament, but was upset 7-2 by the Raidersin the championship game.
