I am Professor Maurice SCHNEIDER, oncologist andpresident of the Alpes Maritimes committee of theNational League against Cancer. It is an honour forme to address you tonight, on behalf of ourcommittee, for this charity event against cancer thatyou are hosting.

The National League against Cancer was created in 1918 by Mr JustinGodart and Doctor Vincent PASCHETTA created our Committee in 1957.Since then, it has continuously pursued its missions, promoting research,prevention and screening initiatives, and above all helping cancer patientsin their daily life. All these actions are mostly financed by privatedonations. There are now 103 committees throughout France, includingthe overseas territories.

Our committee upholds the same values, and our Espace Ligue, createdin 2007 is dedicated to helping patients and their loved ones. In thisspace, professionals and volunteers offer their services every day in orderto help patients during and after their treatment in their daily life. Pleaseknow that the funds collected tonight will help to finance a secondEspace Ligue in Antibes.

I would like to thank the Mimosa Committee for their admirable gestureof solidarity. I would also like to thank the Royal Mougins Golf Club fortheir involvement and support, as well as all the partners who help madetonight’s event a success. The Mimosa Ball started because we have each known the pain of seeing aloved one suffer this illness and wanted to aid a charity that combats Cancer.Having chosen to make our lives in the South of France, we all felt it wasimportant to give back to the community that has embraced us. La Ligue isa charity that stands out for us as they not only fund research but also helpsthe quality of life for patients and their families providing support, adviceand workshops for free. A vital role in the battle against cancer.

The second Espace Ligue is due to open in Antibes this Autumn and it is onlybecause of your assistance that we have been able to do this. Thank youagain for your time this evening, support through your very generoussponsorships and donations as well as your words of encouragement.

Since its creation in 1808, the house of M. Chapoutier has become oneof the most beautiful vineyards in the Rhone Valley.

It has continued to successfully diversify and grow amidst other grandlabels of the area: Crozes-Hermitage, Saint Joseph, Chateauneuf-du-Papeand Condrieu and today owns the most important domaine inHermitage.

Their vineyards and single vineyards they select are cultivated eitherorganically or biodynamically to respect the land and to ensure a wineof great complexity and finesse.

The wines chosen this evening have been selected to perfectlycomplement the dinner this evening.
