Course Philosophy: The realm of oil and gas is dynamic and changing fast. This program helps participants—typically Middle Managers in the Oil and Gas industry and related service industries—to move into more senior positions. It provides a holistic and integrated view of running the business. It tackles four key disciplines of management and how they work together to provide value: Strategy, Leadership, Finance and Operations. The focus is specifically tailored for the requirements of the Oil and Gas business.
Who should attend? Typical par cipants have 7 years of management experience in the Oil and Gas industry or in O&G service provider. All operational or functional leaders, or they may work in strategic planning. To further develop their careers and their contribution, executives want to acquire a greater understanding of the oil and gas business and how their function contributes to the overall success. The programme is also suitable for more senior managers who are new to the industry and would benefit from a “fast track” overview of the Oil and Gas industry and the emergent issues. Course Contents Day 1 – Frame your Strategy
The ever-last changing world, globalization movements and industry trends, and how these impact the strategy. Various classical and theoretical models such Porter’s five forces, portfolio analysis, innovation, etc. will be used. Scenario planning basics will be covered so that participants gain an appreciation of how different assumptions or world situations can influence their strategy and the actions they have to take:
Global and Industry trends Technology Trends and Innovation Strategy making frameworks: SWOT, Portfolio analysis and others Scenario planning: crude price, O&G demands, etc. Case Study
Day 2 - Strategy Execution We introduce a framework for executing strategy. A case study will make this alive and actionable. The day will also cover other essentials of strategy execution in the upstream O&G: managing alliances, post-merger integration essentials, programme management. Issues include:
Business models: Internal Growth or Partnerships, M&A Strategy Execution (MCE Model) Stakeholder Management Programme Management Essentials
Day 3 - Leadership Taken into consideration the complexities of the Oil and Gas Industry, strong leadership skills are essential. These include building relationships, cross-cultural awareness, leading teams through change, etc. This starts with self-awareness and includes a behaviour preference assessment that covers Emotional Intelligence, leadership styles etc. Topics include:

Day 4- Financial Issues Financial literacy is cri cal for running any business successfully. Day 4 focuses on three aspects that are essential for effective management: the basics of P&L, Balance sheet, cash flow; Investment decision making— NPV, IRR, etc.—essential for projects assessments, production sharing agreements and oil accounting and reporting. Topics include:
Finance Basics: P&L, BS, CF Investment Management: IRR, NPV, etc. Upstream accounting: Reporting requirements, production sharing agreements

Day 5- Art of Successful Operations
You will examine organizational design (Business Units or Functional structure) and risk management. Participants will work on a case study in teams of four and present the results on the last day. This will provide an opportunity to practice their communication/presentation skills to Executives. This part includes:
