2011.057 BISHOP'S REPORT TO COUNCIL The report of the Bishop was Received.

The Bishop spoke to the report with particular reference to: • The farewell of Bishop Michael Malone and Ordination to the

Episcopate of Father William Wright.

• The Symposium of Synodical Government on Monday 15th

August at St Andrew's, Mayfield and the workshop on Corporate sized parishes on Saturday 25th June at Raymond Terrance.

The Diocesan Council was advised that the Bishop has invited His Honour Judge Chris Armitage to be the Deputy Chancellor. Judge Armitage has accepted this invitation.

2011.060 MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES (A) Professional Standards Matters

The Chancellor informed the Diocesan Council of advice from the Insurers through the Diocesan Solicitors, that it would not be appropriate for the Diocese to engage in revisions of Professional Standards processes until the judgment in the current matter is delivered. The insurer has informed us that changes to the membership of the Professional Standards Board and the Professional Standards Committee would not be appropriate until the judgment in the current matter is delivered. The Insurer requests that we comply with their wishes.

Moved: Mr Alan Green Seconded: The Very Reverend Or James Rigney 'That the Diocesan Council, having received the advice from the Legal Team and Insurers, accepts this advice and informs our Lawyers and Insurers that we agree and will abide by it."

The Diocesan Council noted that the Synod will be informed of this legal advice. The Chancellor advised that this advice would need to be brief.

The Chancellor will research matters related to composition of the Board and Committee in relation to the Synod election year and report to the August meeting.

The Diocesan Council is exercising the power of Synod delegated under the Anglican Church of Australia (Bodies Corporate) Constitution and Administration Ordinance.

Moved: Mr John Cleary Seconded: Mr Alan Green "(a) Cutcher & Neale's tender of May 2011 to be the Diocesan Auditors for all Diocesan entities be accepted with an initial Engagement Fee for Year 1 of audit fees and travel fees (excluding GST) of $231,625 (with estimated total audit hours of 1450 in Year 1) and thereafter with CPI adjustments annually but (subject otherwise to the terms of the final tender). (b) Cutcher & Neale accordingly be engaged as Diocesan Auditors for all Diocesan entities for a three-year term from 1 October 2011 to 30 September 2014 being in respect of the audits for the calendar years ending 31 December 2011, 2012 and 2013 and the financial years ending the 30 June 2012, 2013 and 2014 (whichever be appropriate for each entity) with an option for the Diocese to extend this period for a further period no longer than three years subject to ratification by Diocesan Council, Anglican Care, and Samaritans. (c) The Chair of the Diocesan Audit Committee and the Diocesan Business Manager be authorised to sign a letter of engagement."
