How is colour used in the picture below?

Black and White acts as an oxymoron due to the difference of moods; which can symbolize craziness or a bipolar mood. We can see that because of the color of her hair. The red might symbolize the vicious & violent character of hers – The red is coated with white fur to maybe show the character as a peaceful person from the outside since white signifies peace and calmness but from the inside; she’s actually sinister and vulgar !

How is colour used in the picture below?

The dark background shows a an evil sinister ambience due to the use of slime green and red which stereotypically, when put together, make up a very evil mood. The character also uses very evil colors which fits to a character and personality of a witch. The colors give a very inhumane look to the character and makes the audience automatically realize that she is an antagonist due to the vibe the colors give out.

How is colour used in the picture below?

This is a complete contrast to the previous picture. This time the color scheme is very positive due to the use of White, Light Blue and Dark Blue. It could give the audience a very heavenly/angelic vibe. The effects used around the dress; which is a white colored swirl gives the audience a magical/mystical mood that something positive is going to happen. The background too is becoming blue (a positive color) from a black background which could signify negativity. You can see that the takeover from black to blue could show a very positive outcome from a very negative one.

What can we interpret from these costumes?

The costumes used are very urban and street styled – which can signify that they are less fortunate. They all are wearing jackets which shows that they live in a very cold area since they are covered up from head to toe. The girl on the left is a lot more fashionable in comparison to the others which could show the audience about her personality. She may be the spoilt/bratty one due the way she holds the rest of her out fit. Overall the costumes may make an impression that they might be less fortunate due to the way they dress as its urban and street. The whole outfit of the whole may look like a stereotypical struggling family.

What can we interpret from these costumes?

The formal outfits of the two men stereotypically signify a very detective look. This is because of the way they carry and wear their outfit. It may give a very mysterious look to the audience which may relate to what they do – solving mysteries. The scarf and heavy jackets may help signify that the place is cold and dark. The dark costumes may also help signify negativity or help foreshadow what may come next. The mood that the outfit sets is very serious and bold which may show to the audience about their personalities.

How would actors be directed to use them:

The actors would sip and pour drinks into the wine glassesThe couple could frequently use their phoneThe man may propose with a wedding ringThe extras could all get surprised They wipe their mouth with a napkinThey may fix or play with their accessories like the girl flicking her diamond earrings or a guy fixing his watch.

Location:A fancy alcoholic Italian food restaurant set could be built since Italian food is pretty romantic especially if they serve wine with it. The set should be fancy and exquisite with royal and bold furniture which follows a black, white and red color scheme. The set should be simple but rich and classy. They should use high quality wood and etc to help signify the royal theme which the set should follow.

Page 12: Mise En Scène - AS Media

Blocking/Performance:There should not be so much movement between the actors – they should be in a jolly romantic mood which follows smooth and classy movements. They should be slow and a bit fidgety. Example: The man should pull out the chair for the woman and they woman should be smiling and flicking her hair all the time. After talking with holding hands - he should get on the floor and propose All extras should now focus on the main charactersThe girl says yes and everyone goes crazy – then they kiss.

The dark setting may imply negativity/sinister mood to the audience because it falls from the top maybe symbolizing something to do with religion (Faith vs Evil) maybe showing them as characters of bad faith and the lighting is to represent the goodness. The lighting maybe shows a sense of danger and anguish – as if it were to foreshadow something bad happening. It also may show a sense of mystery because of the setting and the lighting is gloomy.

How is lighting being used to create mood in the following examples?

How is lighting being used to create mood in the following examples?

Due to the lighting – It may imply a sense of seriousness as it falls through blinds giving it that shade of light which darkens areas of the room. The lighting on the left is dark probably it may imply anger and negativity while the right character is fully lit up maybe showing her innocence and goodness. The lighting really defines both characters maybe trying to show the bold personalities they both obtain.
