• HEC was the brainchild of the late Arthur L. Stern, a noted Hospital Administrator and Health Care Consultant. Stern, along with Henry Karpe, Daniel Fruchter, Harold Schneider and George Miller, founded HEC

• Stern envisioned HEC as a forum for hospital administrators to assist each other in problem solving, with the aim of delivering high quality health care to patients in their facilities

In the 1970s many hospitals closed. Certain HEC members suddenly found themselves out of work. Members of the club created a team to update resumes and improve interviewing skills
