Sister Maria Rosa and the Venerini Associates distribute food to needy fami-lies during the year. Help us restock our supply so that we may continue the good

work. Please join us by dropping off any of the following nonper-ishable food items, or a monetary donation of any amount. No gift is too small. This is what we are in need of: Canned Fruit, Canned Ap-plesauce, Canned Cranberry Sauce, Canned Vegetables, Canned Green & Yellow Waxed Beans, Soups, Boxed Stuffing, Canned Sweet Potatoes, Canned Yams, Boxed Scalloped Pota-toes, Canned Beans, Canned Peas, Canned Corn, Canned Stews, Pudding, Cereal, Pasta, Pasta Sauce, Jelly/Jam, Peanut Butter, Cooking Oil, Tuna Fish, Mayonnaise, Canned Meats. The Mass Book for 2020 is opened. There is availability for intentions especially during 8:00 am week day Mass along with some weekend Masses.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS: The Stations of the Cross at St. Anthony’s will be offered each Friday at 3:00 PM.

St. Anthony’s Sacred Heart League Day of Reflection—March 21 from 10:30am to 3pm with Guest Speaker: Father Jef-frey L’Arche. All are welcome. Come experience food for thought as we create a Lenten Buffet for the soul! There will be a luncheon for $10. Please plan on attending. Forms for the luncheon will be available at both entrances starting this weekend. It will be a fun day. If you have any questions, call Cathy Busher at 518-366-2307.

LENTEN SERVICE Come and join us, taking part in a journey with Jesus toward METANOIA, an excursion toward Conversion. Our presentations are by Father Dave Pivonka, TOR of the Wild Goose Ministries, and Presi-dent of the Franciscan University at Steubenville, Ohio. We will have interactive discussion following our video presentation. We will com-mence at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening during Lent. Our faith journey will be held in the DeFranco Room. Our space is limited to forty persons, so please leave a message that you are wishing to at-tend by telling us your name and telephone number at 518-374-4591 extension #103. SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT

IS ABORTION EVER OKAY? The fifth commandment forbids doing anything with the intention of indirectly bringing about a person’s death. The moral law prohibits exposing someone to mortal danger without grave reason, as well as refusing assistance to a person in danger. (Catechism of the Catholic Church #2269)

THE FLAME OF LOVE OF THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CENACLE

All parishioners from both St. John the Evangelist & St. Anthony’s are invited to join “The Flame of Love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Cenacle”, Thursdays, 7:00 pm in Room 5 of the Parish Center. The Journey Bereavement Ministries consists of a team of Bereave-ment Ministers available to those who are suffering the loss of a loved one. We invite those in need to call for an individual meeting with one of our ministers at 518-374-4591 Extension 103 to schedule an appoint-ment. Lenten Fish Dinners at Our Lady Queen of Peace: The Parish Evangelization Committee will be sponsoring three Lenten Fish Fry Dinners: Friday March 20, and April 3, from 4:30 – 6:30 pm. Take out or eat in for the same great price of $10.00 per meal. Proceeds will benefit the parish Faith Formation programs. We invite you to join us for a simple Lenten fish dinner at the Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish Center 210 Princetown Rd. Schenectady. Tickets may be purchased after all weekend masses or at the door.

BAKERS NEEDED—We would love your help? The St. John the Evangelist Rosary Society will host a recep-tion to honor our students who will receive the Sacrament of Confir-mation on Sunday, March 22. We are in need of volunteers to bake cookies, brownies or breads. The SJE Parish Center will open at 10:30 a.m. on that Sunday to receive your baked goods. To All Women of Our Parish Family You are cordially invited to become members of the Sacred Heart League of Saint Anthony’s Parish during the Celebration of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. To be eligible you must be over 18 years of age and attend one meeting and one league function. Meetings and functions will be listed in our church

bulletins. We are an organization that was initiated in the parish in June of 1928 and is canonically established. The Sacred Heart League is a Religious Society which aims at fostering in its members an ardent de-votion, to bring about the sanctification of its members, the welfare of the Church and the spread of Christ’s Kingdom. MENTAL HEALTH RETREAT: Breaking Through the Silence: God’s Grace and Mental Illness

Saturday, March 28, 2020 from 9am to 1pm St. Mary’s Church, Crescent 86 Church Hill Road * Waterford

Do you or a loved one struggle with mental illness? Join us at St. Mary’s, Crescent (86 Church Hill Road, Waterford) as we listen to the stories of people who are dealing with mental illness.

We will hear from the National Alliance on Mental Illness and Fr. Tom Konopka of the Diocesan Consultation Center and enjoy a panel discussion where you will be able to ask any of our present-ers questions.

We will end our morning together with the offering of the two heal-ing sacraments of the church: the sacrament of reconciliation and the anointing of the sick.

The Saint Joseph’s Men’s Group, (El Grupo de Hombres de San José) will be sponsoring a Holy Hour for Vocations with Exposi-tion of the Blessed Sacrament on the last Sunday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at Saint Anthony’s Church on Seward Place. We will commence our pray on Sunday, March 29th 2020 at 6:00 p.m. All are welcome to come and pray with us for vocations to the Priest-hood; Religious Life; and Lay Ecclesial Ministers.

The Sacrament of Confirmation will be con-ferred by +Bishop Edward Scharfenberger on Sun-day, March 22 at 2:00pm in St. John the Evangelist Church. Please keep our candidates and families from both parishes in your prayers. A reception will follow in the St. John’s Parish Center hosted by SJE Rosarians.
