MISSION
The mission of ETNIKA FOUNDATION is to promote cultural exchange through artistic, cultural and
educational programs and events. The impetus behind the mission, is a commitment to promote a greater participation, knowledge and
acceptance of other cultures in a land where diversity should not be something to tolerate, but
to celebrate.
DanceVersity provides cultural appreciation through dances including Latin, Persian, Greek,
South African, Russian, African Foundations, Afro-Colombian, Bollywood, Hip Hop, Native American,
Hawaiian, Samba, Contemporary, Flamenco, Moroccan, Modern Dance, Jewish, Bharata
Natyam, Tahitian, Theatrical dance, and much more!
Etnika Foundation’s children have been participating in several events and programs in Washington, Frederick and Montgomery Counties, some of them hosted by Etnika and some for other organizations in the Metropolitan area of DC, such Telemundo (the recognized network television that broadcasts in Spanish)“El Dia de las Madres” (May 2013) and “Fiesta de la Familia” (November 2013 and 2014) at DC Armory, and “El Dia de las Madres” (May 2015).
Several International Nights at Public Schools diversity celebration in Frederick and Montgomery Counties, The Day of Hope in Hagerstown MD, Head Start Family Day, Talent Shows, Workshops at Barbara Ingram School for the Arts, Art Exhibition at the OAS Gallery in DC, and many more.
Etnika have worked with Unesco Center for Peace, as part of the cultural and artistic “International Summer Camp” at Hood College in Frederick MD in 2014.Etnika was endorsed by US FEDERATION OF UNESCO Clubs and Associations in October 2014.
Etnika Foundation current programs includes:
1. After school program called “DanceVersity” . Children learned about world traditions through dance and music. The importance of dancing is proved to help not just children, but anyone to fight obesity, to improve coordination, build a healthy self-esteem and a happier life. Dance works as an incredible therapy to release stress through movement and body expression.
2. After school program called “CreArte” . A hands-on program where children learn about diverse cultures through traditional arts & crafts from many different countries.
Etnika Foundation have hosted events such as:1. The First Latin American Folklore Gala December 1,
2012 in Hagerstown,MD2. The First Latin American Cuisine Celebration on
September 7th, 2013 in Hagerstown, MD3. The Second Latin American Awards and Traditions
Gala on November 23rd, 2013 in hagerstown, MD4. The Second Latin American Cuisine Celebration in
partnership with Washington County Free Library in Maryland.
