Summer 2004 programs were a success!
• each team had 5 members
• each team taught our Java curriculum and an Entrepreneurship seminar, including a business plan competition
• each team also ran a self-learning initiative, where some of the best students learned independently (OCW model)

Current Projects - IIAITI Satellite Feasibility Study Project
• An idea that came from a few AITI participants
• Work with AITI graduates in Kenya, Ghana, and Ethiopia to set up satellite programs in other schools around their countries
• MIT-AITI would help with consulting, fundraising, and logistics

Current Projects - IIIAITI Spring Semester 6-Unit Class
• In an effort to better prepare the AITI 2005 participants for their trips over the summer
• Class has been held in the past, but this is a completely new design
• Class has three components: logistics, guest lecture, and service learning

• Focusing on both this year’s program, and securing long-term funding through new sources

Current Projects - VAITI OCW/Self-Learning Initiative
• Pilot programs were held last year in all three countries
• The goal of this work is to set up a self-learning initiative whereby Africans students can learn independently and effective use OCW’s site
• Many lessons from last year – we are re-designing a more effective model for 2005
