Mitch Farber is one of the very best guitarists in South Florida. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Mitch took up the guitar at the age of 10 and studied privately for seven years before playing professionally at 17 in various bands and venues around Philadelphia. Although his training mainly focused on jazz, he was greatly influenced by rock, funk, and fusion. His musical influences included progressive rock artists Genesis, Yes, and Gentle Giant, as well as jazz guitarists Pat Martino, George Benson, and Pat Metheny. In 1974, Mitch joined the band Birthright for a couple of years with Bob Martin, who went on to play with Frank Zappa, Orleans, and Bette Midler. He then toured across the country with Ken Hamilton and Terry Malone and played with Chuck Mangione and Rick Derringer. In 1984, he moved to Miami and studied at Miami Dade College with John Defaria of Miami Sound Machine and Dave Weisbrot, before becoming adjunct faculty in 1993. Mitch has worked with many artists throughout the years, including Cristian Castro, Nestor Torres, and Julio Iglesias, touring the world to countries like Japan, Australia, Spain, Russia, Portugal, Malaysia, the Philipinnes, and Argentina, to name a few. Mitch continues to teach at Miami Dade College after twenty years and be in demand as a performer, maintaining a very busy performance schedule throughout the year. MITCH FARBER GUITARIST
