What will I learn?

The avoidance of underground services is a requirement for anyone who is penetrating the ground for any reason.

Cable avoidance tools are becoming more sophisticated with each passing year, however the user of this equipment must be able to understand the basic principles and its correct use as well as its limitations in order to maximise its e�ectiveness. This course will introduce you to both the theoretical and practical side of this subject.

The course commences by looking at both legislation and published guidance available on the subject of the identi�cation and avoidance of underground services; at what is or is not locatable.

Preparatory research of maps is covered, along with examples of streetworks and site surveys. The course explains the various detection modes and details the location techniques necessary for a methodical and safe CAT survey.
