Monday afternoon visitors at the Buege home were Mr, and Mrs. Magnus Dyrdal of Casnovia. Mrs. Evelyn Butcher and daugh- ter, Dolly and Mr, and Mrs. Stan- ley Samdal and family of Grand Haven were Sunday evening lunch guests at the home of Mr, and Mrs! Totten, entered the School of Nursing at Bronson Hospital, Kalamazoo, September 18. Mr. and Mrs, Thomas B, Jen- nings of Long Beach, California are visiting Mrs, Orrin Johnson. Mrs, Mabel Wylle of Lansing spent the week-end with her aunt, Mrs, Gertrude Chamness. Miss Mildred Robinson ot Sagi- naw was a recent week-end guest of her brother, Melvin Robinson and family. Mr. and Mrs. John Norton spent a week-end with Mr, and Mrs, Thomas Lawrence In Ann Arbor during Mr. Norton's vacation. Mrs, Lawrence is the former Gladys Pickett, who was a resident of Sparta many years. She lived in the Mrs. Charles Coles apart- ment on Nash St. and has many Sparta friends. | Maurice Anderson, who has been 111 In Butterworth Hospital several weeks, Is improving and expects to come home soon. Mrs. Joy Mae Miller of Chula Vista, California, arrived Tuesday night .to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Williams and Sparta friends. Mr. and Mrs. Miller are former residents of Sparta. Mr. and Mrs. Art Swenson and son, Wendell, Mrs. Maude Groner and Mrs. Lorinda Nickolal helped to celebrate the wedding anniver- sary of Mr. and Mrs, George Nic- kolal on Wednesday evening. The Kent City Study Club opened Us year on Monday evening, Sep-tember 28 at 8:00 p.m. at the home of the new president, Mrs. Norman Weston. Mrs. Weston welcomed the three new members, Mrs. Peter Cavahaugh, Mrs. Chester Walker and Miss Elizabeth Croel. The pro-gram chairman, Mrs. Norrls Helsel, talked about the programs for the year and introduced Mrs. Harold Saur, who was the speaker of the evening. Mrs. Saur showed slides of their Canadian trip In August, especially cf the St. Lawrence Sea-way. Her pictures were very beau-tiful and Interesting and she ex-plained them In her usual gracious way. The October meeting wili be Friendship Night and will be held In the school.

The school cafeteria opened on September 28 with Mrs. Mllto.j

Mrs. George Wilkerson left on Monday for Chicago, taking a plane there for Fairbanks, Alaska, where she will spend the winter with her daughter, Mrs. Mabie Scoby and family.

Mrs. Charles Stone was taken to Butterworth Hospital Monday morning for observation.

Thirteen ladles of the two Mis-sion groups of the Baptist Church drove to St. Louis, last Thursday to visit the Children's Home there and to deliver about two hundred quarts of fruit and vegetables which they had canned for the Home. At present there are 33 there and they have a very pleas-ant home-like place to live.
