Thank you for the snacks and refreshments. Dr. Joel Panciera gave the second of his lessons on the all church study of Five Marks of a Methodist. We look forward to hearing Joel this week.

GUESTS: Roger & Susan John (for the fourth time). Shouldn’t we make them the chair of something? Nancy Christy was home and it was lovely to have her back where she belongs!



FINANCE: Appreciation: We received four thank you notes from Phillips Theological Seminary, Oklahoma Methodist Manor, Sistema Tulsa and Neighbor for Neighbor for recent class donations. Each was very appreciative of our generous gift.

Class expenditures: For any requested class expenditure, please contact a member of the Finance Committee: Bob Russell, Jim Embrey, Dave Grim or Karen Campbell (Emeritus) & Jim McCann. Since we have not yet sold the paintings that David Cooley generously donated, we are exploring other options of potentially selling them through Ziegler’s or Richard Neel



Interiors. If anyone else has suggestions for methods to sell them, please contact Ed or Judith Payton.

SOCIALS:Cookout & Bluegrass Band Concert on October 7th at 6:00 p.m. – Back by popular demand, our own Dave Shepherd and his renowned bluegrass band will play for us as we enjoy a crisp fall cookout on the gorgeous banks of the pond behind the home of Richard and Jeanie Payton. The class will provide hamburgers, hot dogs and all the fixings, along with soft drinks and water.



Class members are asked to sign up to bring side dishes and desserts on the sheets being passed in class. Rainout plans are already in place at the subdivision clubhouse so put this date on your calendar for a fabulous evening!

MISSIONS:WORKING COMPASSION DINNERS DURING OCTOBER: Our mission projects for October will be to work at BAUMC’s Compassion Dinners. There are lots of ways in which each of us can serve,



so watch for the sign-up sheets and choose your spot. These are profound experiences that will touch you deeply. If you have questions, please contact Glenna Arnott.

Denzil Tallent is celebrating his two year cancer free anniversary.



Dave Grim is celebrating being kicked out of his oncologist’s practice for having gone fourteen years with no cancer recurrence.

New grandparents Jeff & Julie Allen made their own announcement about their new granddaughter, Parker Elizabeth, not knowing that we had been celebrating her arrival for a week after learning about Parker from Barbara Meehan!

The new grandparents club is burgeoning with Sharon & Bruce Chucoski announcing the arrival of granddaughter Emma Lynn.



Further sign of our prolific nature, Richard Wansley & Meredith Davison announced that their son & daughter-in-law are pregnant so they are now waiting on the arrival of TWO grandchildren.

Judge Sarah & Sam Smith recently lost their niece in a tragic traffic accident.

Janet Purinton remains hospitalized for treatment for what are now believed to be both viral and fungal infections. Doctors believe they have identified both strains, but are continuing to run tests. Janet is extraordinarily weak and thus MUST conserve her strength for recovery. As such, we must adhere to the no calls and no visits policy. The best thing we can do to show our love and support for Janet at this time is through prayers and cards sent to her house that she will be able to read and enjoy when she is stronger.

Sherry Griffin underwent gallbladder surgery last week and is currently recovering.



Jeanie Payton dislocated her shoulder and will be undergoing rotator cuff surgery in the future.

Richard Payton’s sister has been hospitalized with a broken back.

The mother of Nancy & Susan Morgan has been moved to skilled nursing following seizures and a recent heart attack.

Jim Embrey’s sister Pam has successfully completed her breast cancer surgery and is in the post surgery/pre-chemo stage. She anticipates 12 weeks of chemo with full side effects, but is seeking a second opinion at M.D. Anderson.



The baby with a terminal illness for whom Pam Sherman previously requested prayer has succumbed to the illness.

She was 46 yrs. old. - For Gabby has not shared health issue but asked for prayers of acceptance, strength to deal.- For Mike Margrave biopsy. He is in pain trouble walking, eating, prognosis not encouraging.- For McMinn family, after the loss of Marcus McMinn to suicide, I lift up his family and may he find peace where he is. Thank you for allowing a non-member to contemplate alone.- For the success of my husband’s business and my friends’ new clinic. Pray I learn to lean on God and His abilities instead of mine – may I be fruitful & excellent in fulfilling my duties.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:BEVERLY NORTH REQUEST – My husband Mark and I are alumni members of Maranatha. We live in Dayton, OH now, but need to sell a house in Tulsa (Regency Park). I plan to return to Tulsa the last week of October to make arrangements with the realtor. Our son, Jay, and his

In order to give everyone an opportunity to voice their comments, we are incorporating into our weekly lessons the discussion guidelines that Marita Morgan taught us: (1) Only one comment per person per class. (2) Economy of words. (3). Speak loudly so everyone has an opportunity to hear you. Thank you for adhering to these discussion guidelines so that we will all have an opportunity to participate in the discussions and benefit from hearing each other.
