Early Cell Phones Rudy Krollop developed the Motorola DynaTAC 8000X, the

first practical cellular phone, in 1984. Nick named “the brick” the early cell phone weighed in at 2

pounds and sold for $3,995.

Early Cell Phones Although the early cell phones were bulky and

expensive, people rushed to the electronic stores to get their own cellular phone.

The cellular phones quickly gained popularity thanks to their appearances in movies and in shows like Saved By the Bell.

Zack Morris often used a similar phone to the Motorola DynaTAC 8000X to aid him in his pranks.

size and the price of cell phones both needed to decrease.

Motorola and it’s competition begin developing lighter, thinner models of their cell phones.

The newer models were also much cheaper.
