Mobile is all about TOUCH

Design of Interactions

Mobile devices employ touch screens; which provide unique opportunities and constraints to view and interact with content.IxD Designers consider ergonomics, gestures, transitions, and finally, mobile-specific interaction patterns.

Ergonomics

Pay attention to device dimensions and concerns of touch screens.

The way a user holds a device and touches the screen, for example, influences how easy it is for that user to reach parts of the screen.

Gestures

Gestures are a crucial component of mobile IxD. Each part of a touchscreen is dedicated to specific functionality and displays content in that area.Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS operating systems both heavily employ gestures.

Transitions

Transitions and animations help boost user- engagement by creating interactions that connect the boundaries between app pages.

Transitions facilitate recall and prevent users from getting lost.

UX Designers

UX designers aim to create apps that are easy to use, have utility, and are efficient at performing tasks.

UX designers create user-friendly sub-systems for:- App sign-up process- User profile setup- Navigation scheme

What UX Designers Do

- User research + personas- Information architecture- Navigation design- Wireframes- Prototyping

Why is it Important?

App success hinges on one thing -- how users perceive it!

Questions immediately run through a visitor’s mind when they interact with technology. Instant decisions are made... will they open the app again or simply delete it?

The UX Difference

APP USERS WILL ASK...

“What value am I receiving? Is it easy to use?”User experience design is all about striving to make them answer “Yes” to all of those questions.

UI Designers

User Interface Designers create graphical elements that users will directly interact with. The graphical interface is usually placed into wireframes before being handed off to the development team.
