A b s t r a c t

Ayurveda is a science of life which deals with health of the human being. The main aim of

Ayurveda is to cure a diseases and maintenance of healthy status of a human being for which

several regimens in terms of food and daily activity as well as medicinal formulations, cleansing

therapy have been explained in Ayurvedic classical textbooks. The concepts of Prasooti tantra

evum stree roga have not been explained specifically but have scattered reference in Classical

text books. It has been explained under the heading kaumarabhrutya. As per WHO a woman

in chide bearing age and children’s are major part of population to gain the healthy progeny

health of women in reproductive life is important. The drug which selected here jeevani syrup

have both curative and rejuvenate property. And which is having good combination of drugs

which can be prescribe in several stree rogas. And it also has rasāyana property.

INTRODUCTION

he aim of Ayurvada is "Swasthasya swasthya

rakshananm aaturasya vikāra prashamanam" [i]

The drug which is selected here is jeevany Syrup

serves both the purpose. Auṣadha is one among chikisa

pāda chatuṣṭa[ii].

“Bahukalpam bahuguṇam sampannam yogyam auṣad-

ham”. [iii] Vaiṣamyata of dōṣa, dhātu, mala leads to

vikāra. Hence for arogya samatva of them is important.

For which uttama chikitsak, uttama paricharaka, uttam

auṣadhi, and rogi should be cooperative, the combined

effect of these will bring balance in dōṣa, dhātu`s.[iv]

(boiled & then cooled) thrice a day after meal. Or based

on Shareera bala, Agni bala, vyādhi avashtha, vyādhi-

bala, matra can be fixed.

Based on vyādhi in which jeevany syrup is indicated.

Probable mode of action(Karmukata)

Jeevany Syrup have ingredients where mainly tikta,

madhura, kaṣāya, katu rasa; Snigdha , rūkṣa, laghu ,

guṇa ; madhura vipāka ; śīta vīrya ; rasāyana, vaya

sthapana , grāhi , sthambhana , śukrala, vṟṣya deepa-

niya, pachaniya properties of dravyas. And most of dra-

vyas having rakta śōdhana and rakta prasādana prop-

erty.

There is rasāyana property which nourishes the rasa

dhātu, and as aārtava is upadhātu of rasa Dhātu

hence this drug is effective in treating menstrual ir-

regularities caused due to nutritional problems.

Also śukrala, vṟṣya properties of dravya s will helps

in treating infertility either male or female or both.

Grāhi & stambhana guṇa of dravyas will help in

treating the condition where there is atipravrutti e.g.

pradara

maricha & gokshura have krimighna property hence

up to some extent it is useful in infectious conditions.

Manjishtha, Shatavari, gokshura, dhataki pushpa , have garbha sthapana effect hence in Habitual abor-

tion condition it is useful.

All most all drugs have ant diabetic action hence it

is also helpful in certain gynecological n obstetrics

condition associated with diabetes.

Action on different Dōṣa`s :

Tikta and kaṣāya rasa of the drugs helps in alleviat-

ing kapha dōṣa. Madhura rasa and śīta vīrya of the

drugs helps in alleviating pitta dōṣa.

Most of the drugs are kapha pitta hara by action and

some are vāta kapha, & vāta pitta hara too.

Snigdha and guru guṇa of the drugs helps to pacify

vāta dōṣa, and laghu rūkṣa guṇa helps to pacify san-

drata of kapha dōṣa.

Hence overall effect of drug is tridōṣa hara.

Effect on different prakruti:

As all ingredients are śītavīrya and they mainly help

to combat pitta dōṣa as well as rakta, so this drug is

mainly effective in pitta prakruti person.

Most of the drugs are having tikta and madhura and

kaṣāya rasa pradhanatwa so the madhura rasa

helps to pacify vāta dōṣa where as tikta and kaṣāya

rasa helps to pacify pitta as well as kapha dōṣa. In

general, it acts on all 3 dōṣa `s hence it can be used

effectively in all prakruti persons.

Action on different strotas :

Raktavaha strotas : Rasāyana effect of the ingredi-

ents helps in improving rasa dhātu, and thus im-

proves uttarottara dhātu nirmana as well as general

health and quality of life.

Raktavaha strotas : Most of the ingredients are śīta

vīrya , by action of vīrya all ingredients are pitta

shamak and hence pacify rakta prakopa and also

acts as rakta sthambhana and rakta prasādana af-

fect of dravya improves rakta dhātu.

Ārtava vaha strotas : Most of the ingredients are pit-

tarakta shamaka and hence can be effectively used

in rakta pradara.

And almost all ingredients have grāhi guṇa and as

of kaṣāya rasa hence it helps as srava shoshaka hence effective in śvēta pradara.

Snigdha guṇa & guru guṇa does dhātu baladi vrud-

dhi.

Asṟgdhara[xli]

Saṁprāptivighaṭana

It’s been told that raktapitta line of treatment is to be

adopt in asṟgdhara[xlii].

And in raktapitta śīta vīrya drugs are used, and

jeevani syrup contains most of the śīta vīrya drugs

which helps in pacifying pitta and rakta so it is help-

ful in asṟgdhara. Tikta madhura kaṣāya rasa pacifies

pitta dōṣa as well as raktaprasadakara.

Also some of the drugs are grāhi and sthambhana

by their action which helps in stoppage of excessive

menstrual blood.

Śvētapradara[xliii]

Saṁprāptivighaṭana

Under nutrition and infection are the main causes for

white discharge per vagina. jeevany syrup acts as

rasāyana, balya .

and it also acts as immune-modulator, and hence acts in

both the ways by giving nutrition as well as activating

immune system to fight with infection.

Also grāhi & sthambhana guṇa of dravya kaṣāya

rasa as well as strava shoshaghna guṇa of kaṣāya

rasa helps in śvētapradara.

Śvētapradara is a symptom in many disorders where

for symptomatic relief jeevany syrup can be advised

along with other medications.

Saṁprāpti vighaṭana

Ārtava is a upadhātu of rasadhātu. And jeevani syrup

has rasāyana property. As well as snigdha guṇa of some

drugs and madhura rasa will pacify vāta dōṣa.

Hence by improving rasa dhātu and pacifying vāta dōṣa

this drug can act in case of putraghni yonivyāpad.

Pittaja yonivyāpad [xlv]

Saṁprāpti

Menstrual blood – excess in amount, kunapagandhi,

neela pita seeta ārtava

Saṁprāptivighaṭana

In jeevany syrup most of the dravya possesses śīta

vīrya & madhura rasa which pacify pitta dōṣa . and

dāha hara property of some drug reduces dāha &

jwara.

There is atipravrutti which is corrected by grāhi &

sthambhanaguṇa of dravyas .

Lohitakṣaya yonivyāpad[xlvi]

Saṁprāpti

Saṁprāpti vighaṭana

Madhura rasa, snigdha guru guṇa, śīta vīrya does

vāta pitta hara.

Sthambhana effect of dravya reduces rak-

tatipravrutti. Raktaprasādana property improves the

quality of rakta.

There by it cures rajokṣaya.

Upapluta yonivyāpad [xlvii]

Saṁprāpti

Saṁprāpti vighaṭana

Snigdha and guru guṇa of the drugs helps to pacify

vāta dōṣa, and tikta and kaṣāya rasa, laghu rūkṣa

guṇa helps to pacify sandrata of kapha dōṣa.

grāhi & sthambhana guṇa of dravya and strava

shoshaka property of kaṣāya rasa reduces the yoni

strava.

DISCUSSION

Ārtava can be taken as ovum, steroidal hormones

and menstrual blood.

The whole reproductive system is maintained by

HPO axis i.e Rhythmic releasing and inhibition of ste-

roidal hormones hence, any abnormality in this may

lead to various gynecological as well as obstetrical

disorders.

As ārtava is upadhātu of rasadhātu all diseases re-

lated to ārtava can be cured if rasadhātu is nour-

ished.

As jeevani syrup has rasāyana property it nourishes

rasadhātu.

And as almost all ingredients have grāhi property

hence this drug is indicated in case of atipravrutti.

Based on dōṣa dūṣya prakruti & vyādhi bala this

drug can be indicated other conditions too with com-

bination of other drugs as basic properties of jeevani

syrup is rasāyana, grāhi, sthambhana, as well as

raktaprasādana .

CONCLUSION

As claimed by company jeevany syrup is a uterine

tonic.

Ingredients used in jeevany syrup are easily availa-

ble and less chance if adulteries.

It is useful in all most all disorders of reproductive

system either alone or in combination of other medi-

cine.

And as of śukrala & vṟṣya property of this drug can

have effective role in male infertility also.

Cost effective.

And drug have both therapeutic and preventive ef-

fects.
