COOKTOP GREASE FIRE:

1. Turn off the surface elements.

2. Smother the flame with a tightlyfitting lid. Use baking soda or a drychemical, foam, or halon typeextinguisher.

OVEN FIRE:

Do not try to move the pan!

1. Close the oven door and turncontrols off.

. If fire continues, carefully open thedoor, throw baking soda on the fire,or use a dry chemical; foam, orhalon type extinguisher.

block the normal heat flow

To remove the adhesive left from packaging tape, use household dishwashingliquid, mineral oil or cooking oil. With a soft cloth rub into the area and allow tosoak. Rinse and dry well. Repeat procedure using an appliance polish to insureno damage is done. This should be done before the range is turnedon for the first time. The tape cannotbe removed once the rangehas heated. Packaging tape may be foundin thefollowing areas: Cooktopsurface, Door Handle, Control Panel area, Door Trim and Oven area.

Water-bath or pressure canners:andlarge diameter pots extending morethan 1" beyond the edge of thecooktop element may be used forcanning. Your new touch pad oven control will allow you to set oven functions with ease.Below are the different types of functions and a description of each.

BAKE Cooks foods in the traditional

oven with a temperature range of 170°Fto 550°F.

BROIL - Cooks foods to a goldenbrown at 550°F HI broil or450 ° LO

broil from the direct heat of the upperelement:. Broiling: Should :be done With

the door opened to: the broil stopposition.

CLEAN - Cleans the inside areaof the oven for you. When the cycleis finished, the oven wil! turn off

The UP and DOWN arrow

pads set the time of day,-length:of cooking time;length of cleaning time, thedelayed start time, the oventemperature, and the timeset on the Kitchen Timer.

The START pad must bepressed to activate any ovenfunction.

The CLEAR/OFF pad :isused to cancel any ovenfunction and the end of cycletone. It will not cancelthe Clock or KitchenTimer.

The KITCHEN TIMER ON/OFF pad is used to turn theKitchen Timer on or off. It will

not control any of the otheroven functions.

The CLOCK pad is used toset the time of day.

The Control Display is an easyreference for using your oven control.Below are descriptions of how the

- Displays the temperature

• Displays error code "ERR" - Ifthe oven temperature_indicatorflashes "ERR," then you have setan invalid time or temperature.

• Displays Oven Problems- If,your control flashes "F" and anumber or letter, you haveexperienced an oven problem.Please read the section onF'CODES in your manual.

"ON" INDICATOR - Wilt light whenthe oven turns on.

TIME INDICATOR - Displays thetime of day, cooking time, delay starttime, cleaning time or the time set onthe kitchen timer.

• Displays reminder code"PUSH START" - tf the timeindicator flashes the words "PUSH

START," then you need to pressthe START pad to activate yoursetting.

OVEN FUNCTION INDICATORSDisplays which oven function hasbeen set, when the oven door locks,and if the function is delayed.

OPERATIONClock and Timer

The clock must be set for the correct

time of day before a delayed ovenfunction can work properly. The timeof day cannot be changed during atimed oven function, but can bechanged during a bake or broilfunction.

HOW TO SET THE CLOCK

The Kitchen Timer is used to

time cooking processes or otherhousehold activities, it does notcontrol the oven. _lt can be seti_for upto:9 i_ours and:59 min'utes: :it willcount down in minutes until the LAST

60 SECONDS is reached, then thecontrol will beep once: When thecountdown reaches ZERO, theconti"ol will beep 3times followed byone beep every 6 seconds Until theKITCHEN TIMER ON/OFF pad is

RECALL THE CLOCK

While using your oven for cooking,press the CLOCK pad if you wish tocheck the .time of day. The currenttime of day will show in the display.

POWER FAILURE

If you have experienced a powerfailure, the time will flash in the displayand will be incorrect. Reset yourclock.

Any oven cooking function that was inprocess will need to be reset.

2. Press UP and/or DOWN arrowpads to set time.

4. When the countdown has reached

OPERATIONOven Control, Clock and Timer

Your newcontrol has a series of tonesthat will sound at different times. These

tones may sound while you set thecontrol for an oven function, or at theend of the oven function. It wilt also alert

you that there may be a problem withthe functions. Below are the types oftones and a brief description of each.

TONES WHILE SETTING THE

CONTROL "When you press a touchpad you will hear a beep. This beep willlet you knowyou have placed enoughpressure onthe pad,to activate it. (Thearrow pads do not beep.)

END OF TIMEDCYCLE TONE -At

the end of an automatic timed cookingfunction, you wilt hear 3 short beepsfollowed by 1 beep every 6 seconds.This 6 second beep wil! continue tosound until the CLEAR/OFF pad ispressed or you may selectthe speciafeature to cancel this 6 second beepfrom sounding at the end of futurecycles.

TO CANCEL THE 6 SECONDBEEP / 1 .....

1. Press and hold the BAKE andBROIL pads, at the same timefor 3seconds, until the displayshows "SF." -

2. Press the KITCHEN TIMERON/OFF pad. The display will show"CON BEEP" (continuous beep).

3. Press the KITCHEN TIMERON/OFF pad again. The display willshow "BEEP" (beep canceled).

4. Press the START pad to cancel the6 second beep and leave the:special,feature: mode.

If you would like to return the 6 secondbeep, repeat steps above until thedisplay shows your choice and pressthe START pad.

PREHEAT TONE "When youset an oven temperature, the ovenautomatically starts to heat. When thetemperature inside the oven reachesthe temperature you have set, a tonewill sound to let-you know the oven isready for baking.

tfyou set an oven function and thecontrol beeps while the display isflashing "F" and a number or lettersuch as "F4" or "FI,," there may be aproblem with the control or oven.Simply press the CLEARIOFF pad andwait about an hour. Try setting thefunction again. If the code repeats, writedown the flashing code and call forservice. Tell the technician what codewas flashing.

OPERATIONOven Cooking Tips

It is normal to have some odor whenusing your oven for the first time. Tohelp eliminate this odor, ventilate

or using a vent :hood.

IMPORTANT= Never cover the ovenbottom or oven rack with aluminum

foil. Improper use can cause poorheat flow, poor baking results, andmay damage the oven finish.

The oven vent is located under theright rear:element. This area couldbecome hot during oven use. The ventis important for proper air circulation.Never block this vent.

Opening the door often to checkfoods :wil! cause heat loss and poorbaking results,

Preheating is bringing the tempera-ture up to the temperature you will beusing during baking. Let the ovenpreheat thoroughly when recipes callfor preheating.

Broiling is cooking by direct heatfrom the:upper element. The ovendoor should remain open to the broilstop position during broiling.

It is not necessary to preheat theoven when broiling. Use the broilerpan and grid that came with yourrange. Both are designed for properdrainage of fat and liquids:

11. Remove the broiler pan and grid,oven racks, utensils and any foilthat maybe in the oven.

2. Soil on the front frame, 1" insidethe oven, and outside the doorgasketwill need to be cleanedby hand.

Clean these areas with hot water,soap-filled steel wool pads orcleansers such as Soft Scrub ® toremove anysoil. Rinse welt with cleanwater and dry.

3. Wipe up any heavy spitlovers onthe oven bottom.

4. Do not clean the door gasket. Thefiberglass material of the ovendoor gasket cannot withstandabrasion. It is essential for the

gasket to remain intact, If younotice it becoming worn, frayed ordisplaced on the door, it should bereplaced.

This allows for proper air circulation.

Door Panel Gasket

It is normal for your oven door to givethe appearance of not having a goodseal against the range. This is due tothe gasket, The location of the gasketon the oven door maintains a goodseat and prevents any heat loss,

If white spots remain, scrub themwith a soap-filled steel.wool:pad. Besure to rinse thoroughly. These areusually deposits of salt that cannotbe removed during the cycle.

If for any reason you are notsatisfied with the cleaningresults, just repeat the cycle.

Clean only as touch-up betweenclean cycles. Use dishwashingliquid, warm water or soap-filled steelwool pad. Rinse well after cleaningand dry.

NEVER USE OVEN CLEANERSIN OR AROUND ANY PART OFTHE OVEN.

When cleaning, be sure not to bendor displace the temperature sensorlocated on the back wall of the oven.

For heavily soiled bowls,place an ammonia-soaked papertowel over the bowl to loosen the soil,then gently scrub the bowl with aplastic scouring pad.

For blue.gold heat stains - Usea metal polish; These stains arecaused by overheating, and areusually permanent. To help minimizethis effect, avoid excessive use of

high heat settings and use flat bottompans that do not extend more than 1"from the edge of the cooking element.

If you think your new oven is too hot(burning foods) or not hot enough(foods are underoooked), you canadjust the temperature yourself. Theappearance and texture of foods is a

better indicator of oven accuracy thanoven thermometers to check the

temperature setting of your new oven.These thermometers can vary by20-40 degrees. In addition, the ovendoor mustbe opened to read thesethermometers_ Opening the door willchange the temperature of the oven.

To decide how much to change thetemperature, set the oventemperature 25 degrees higher(if foods are undercooked) or25 degrees lower (if foods areburning) than the temperature in yourrecipe, then bake. The results of this

"test" should give you an idea of howmuch the temperature should bechanged.
