maiTitle : Psychosomatic Overview : Psychosomatic medicine is a multidisciplinary branch of medicine dedicated to the study and clinical practice of medicine in relation with all processes that cause a pathological interaction between mind and body or between mental and physical processes. Some physical disorders may have a psychological cause as in the case of hysterical paralysis and somatization disorder, while some physical conditions like vitamin deficiency or brain injury can cause psychological symptoms. Psychosomatic medicine is the most related disciplines, but not the only one; geriatrics, pediatrics, surgery, gynecology, endocrinology. Cardiology, psychiatry, internal medicine, gastroenterology, cosmetic surgery, emergency medicine and many other branches may at one time or other treat disorders with psychosomatic causes or complications. Medical students will have understanding to psychosomatic medicine aspects and it relationship to physical conditions. This module consists of 24 learning activities with 2 small group discussions, assignment, self study and examination. Objective : 1. to understand the definition and psychosomatic medicine 2. to understand the relationship between physical condition and psychological complaints 3. to understand the psychological conditions effect physical illness 4. to determine therapy of psychosomatic in different case of physical illness Activities : 1.
