HM Revenue and Customs has changed its payroll filing systems so that Employer Annual Returns (P35 and P14s) can now only be filed online. The deadline for doing so is 19 May 2010, following on from the end of the tax year on 5 April, reminds local accountancy firm Kendall Wadley. Until this tax year end, employers with less than 50 employees have been able to file paper returns, with the added incentivized option available to them of filing returns online. Online filing has now become requisite as the only option for employers, as Kendall Wadley’s Mark Ashworth explains: “Everyone must be mindful of this new change and in particular, not miss the 19 May deadline as this could incur penalties.
