ROSETTE OF THE WEEK: Nancy Servin By: Diana Cortes How did you feel when they announced you Rosette of the week? I felt overwhelmed and honored for being chosen Rosette of the week. What did you do to become Rosette of the week? I pushed myself to practice, practice at home, and I came motivated to practice everyday. What did you do to improve over the other Rosettes? My flexibility including my techniques that we would do throughout the week. What were your emotions throughout the day? Excitement because people were congratulating me for being Rosette of the week and I worked hard for this position. Did you want to be Rosette of the week? Yes because it shows that I have improved. Nancy Servin has shown much improvement to get this position. She never missed a day of practice, always followed the rules, and is always motivated. She would help others on techniques or give them feedback. Other girls saw that she’s been working hard and deserved to be Rosette of the Week. During our performance at the football game, she was named over the announcements. She was very excited and happy the rest of the day. When they announced her, she was required to do the splits and performed it perfectly. She couldn’t believe it happed and will always remember it. The Economic Crisisby Shaira Salcedo

The economy in the U.S has been at risk because of the money spent by the Government. The debt crisis has reached 16.7 trillion dollars. The sixteen day government shutdown didn’t help the U.S economy bounce back during this current recession or help us repay any of our debt. The political parties are aware of this situation but are more focused on their platforms. Most discussions in congress have not been focused on the debt ceiling, but rather on issues dividing the house. The reason for this is because the White House has pledged not to interfere on debating over the National Debt Limit. If this goes on it could affect the United States credit rating.

Helping Hands: Coming Soon!By: Natalie Chavez

What is Helping Hands?Helping hands is an upcoming community service program coming here at Moises E. Molina.

Whatarethebenefits? The program will not only give anyone an opportunity to get involved in the community, but will give them the excellent feeling of helping people. Plus, it will enhance their college resume.

What are the requirements to join Helping Hands? The following requirements are in place to not only give a positive role to the club, but to our school:- Have 75% or more attendance at Helping Hands’ meetings.- Must have a clean background (Not have been suspended, not be involved in drug abuse, etc .)- Be respectful of others- Have a good reason to volunteer ( standing in the room doing nothing during meetings is not volunteering).

Where would the meetings be held at?The meetings would be held in room 320, Ms.Baker’s room.

If I have a question regarding the program, who should I ask?If you have never been in Helping Hands, you should ask Ms.Baker. If you know someone who is an officer (all officers will be elected soon) or a volunteer, then you can ask them as well.

What type of community service does Helping Hands participate in?In the past, we joined a food drive, cleaned the school, and gave snacks to the janitors to show our appreciation for them. We have also worked at The Paw to raise money for our program. We could have done more, but it was around the end of the school year. The program will begin soon and we are likely to do stuff such as bake sales, car washes, clean ups, or possibly clean up houses for the elderly. We do activities where we can raise money so that we can donate it to charity.

When will Helping Hands begin?Due to being a busy person, Ms.Baker isn’t quite sure when would the exact date will be, but she promises that it would be soon. The program would likely be informed to everyone during announcements or by fliers being posted within the school .

Jorge’s Workout TipsBy Jorge Vargas

Have a 10 minute workout without going to the gym with a cardio/sculpt session: - Hop on a treadmill holding a three to five pound dumbbell in each hand - Set the speed to a brisk walk. - Do a one minute set each of shoulder press, bicep curls ,triceps kickback one after another as you walk.

Try it for 3 times each week! It’ll get your heart rate up and give your upper body a challenge.

Restaurant ReviewBy: Jose Pompa

El Tinzoncito is a local taqueria that serves awesome food! Everything is made on the premises, including the excellent corn tortillas. I love the black bean soup, “Frijoles Charros”, which are served instead of the usual chips and salsa you get everywhere else. The pork sliced off the “Trompo” rotisserie is especially good and best served as Tacos al Pastor, which are my personal favorite. It can also be served as a mouthwatering quesadilla. Every meal is served with a selection of condiments which include chopped onions, delicious sauces, fresh cilantro, and authentic pineapple for the tacos. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is always clean and spotless. Another great thing about this restaurant is that their prices are fairly cheap, which is always a good thing.

Homemade CostumesBy: Michelle Benitez

Don’t have a costume?? Try out these ideas:

*Cheerleader: Make pom-poms from two mop heads, with some folded packing tape in the center for easier holding. Layer big strips of sponge cloth and glue them onto one long strip for the shirt. Thread some new, bright laces into old white sneakers, some dots, and stars to decorate the shoes. A super easy costume to make!

*Mummy: Use 5 yards of white cotton material, a white long sleeve shirt, and white pants. Use makeup such as eyeliner and white powder on your face. Wrap the 5 yards of cotton around your body and glue some of it to your shirt and pants at the same time so the material does not fall off.

<< THE SONG IN MY HEAD >> By: Quimberly Flores

THE SONG THAT HAS BEEN STUCK IN MY HEAD IS, “ROYALS” BY LORDE. IT HAS BEEN STUCK IN SO MANY OF MY FELLOW JAGS HEADS AS WELL, THAT THEY ARE EITHER HUMMING THE BEAT DURING CLASS OR RANDOMLY SINGING IT OUTLOUD. NOT ONLY IS IT A CATCHY TUNE, IT HAS ALSO HAS CAUSED HUGE CONTROVERSY IN THE MEDIA WORLD.

<< VIDEO GAME REVIEW >> By: Quimberly Flores

THIS VIDEO GAME HIGHLIGHT GOES TO “THE LAST OF US”. THIS GAME CAME IN AS #3, AS ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR GAMES RELEASED IN 2013. THE GAME IS ABOUT A PANDEMIC WHICH HAS TAKEN OVER CIVILIZATION AND HOW PEOPLE DO ANYTHING TO SURVIVE.

*Bag of Jelly Beans: Blow up mini balloons of different colors. you will need a big transparent plastic bag and a sharpie to write the ingredients and the nutritional information on the back of the bag. Then carefully cut leg and arm holes in the plastic bag. Step inside the bag and have somebody help you fill out the bag with balloons.Close the top of the bag loosely with a red ribbon around the neck.

*Dressing Tacky:I think dressing tacky would be an awesome idea for a costume. You can get clothes out of your closet that you may not use and just layer them. You can also wear a wig and shoes that don’t match. People might say that you are dressing up like in the 80’s.

*Make your own anti-alien mind reading cap! Just use aluminum foil!

I really hope you like my ideas! Try them out!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!
