The picture remains the same…
Low-income adults served without dental insurance
Live primarily in the Roanoke Valley
Overwhelming majority of those served required oral surgery 53% of patients in 2012
had extractions Average of 5.4 teeth
pulled per patient for a total of 2361 teeth pulled
Is the Roanoke Mission of Mercy Project
enough? The project has clearly demonstrated the need for
access to affordable dental services for adults.
However…there is still a need for on-going,
comprehensive services that provide a “dental home” to
the thousands who need care.
Community Based Health Care Coalition, Healthy
Roanoke Valley and safety net partners are currently
working on a community-based dental clinic business
plan that is cost-effective and offers continuity of care.
