v K-‐Kids are meeting twice a month. Jess could use some assistance at the meeting maybe parents, Key Club, others, or us. Eight parents have helped. They selected officers by drawing names from a box. Maybe we should consider this method at our elections. They are continuing work to provide a friendship bench. Tom Harvey may have some benches that could be used.
v Aktion Club Charter Party will be Dec 12th (Mon.) 11:45am at the Doubletree Hotel in Newark. Newark Kiwanis will be the host. Granville Kiwanis, that’s us, will provide name badges for the Aktion Club members. What about a box to store the badges? Meal cost is $12.50.
v Interclub-‐ Prior to the Roadside Pickup, we were visited by the Ohio District Gov. Bill Flinta, Past Ohio District Gov.’s Dennis Lehman & Leroy Martin, & Alan Penn, (Past Inter.
Pres. & Ohio District Gov.). They toured our barn. That really took a lot of time I’ll bet. I should point out, they were at the Westerville Golf outing at the Raccoon International Golf Club. v July 4th photo contest winners. The judge was Bryan
Ghiloni Photographer. Terry Van Offeren won 1st in in the Amateur Category. His picture was of an older flag that was displayed on a porch. It was the lighting or lack thereof that attracted Terry to take the picture “Old Glory”.
Shelly Lazenby took 1st place for the Professional Category entitled “Win this Fish”.
The third category for youth under 18 years old had no entries. To see more photos go to the Granville Kiwanis Website, click on “Fundraisers”, then click on “July 4th Events”, then click on “Photography Contest” to see all fifteen (15) photos entered in the contest.
v Key Leader – Youth Leadership Training –Four (4) Key Club members from GHS (Granville High School) will attend the Key Leader program in Ashville Nov. 11th – 13th.
v Div. 10E Council Meeting – Nov. 1st (Tues.) at the Holiday Inn in Worthington. Meal cost $25.00. Is this getting familiar? Yes it is the same night and place of the Polaris Area Kiwanis Club Charter party. I don’t know which is first or if they will be at the same time, not that it really matters.

1. Christmas Tree sales. When, Where, & How will it be done this upcoming Christmas season? Pres. Don and Terry will work on this.
2. Pancake Day next February will be held at St Edwards The Confessor Church. The dates have been set for the next two years (2017 & 2018). There is no problem, but Butch would like to have a co-‐chair to learn the in’s and out of what is involved in doing the Pancake Day. In other words he’d like to give up the chair for this project. Any Volunteers?

Monday News page 2 of 2 S O C I A L I Z I N G Pres. Don suggested this year, we as a club should consider being involved with social activities that do not involve work projects but social get together’s, such as bowling, bike rides, trip to Amish country, beer tasting, wine tasting, etc. You name it and it will be done, maybe yes maybe no. A N N O U N C E M E N T S
Ø Pres. Don also introduced tentative plans to connect with Denison through their International Students program. Details are still being developed with the Cations involvement.
Ø Lesa and Jerry Miller on their trip to Massachusetts attended a Kiwanis meeting in Lee, Mass. When they entered the community of Lee, they noticed a Kiwanis sign. The club meets every two weeks on Wednesday at 6:30pm. In talking to one of their members they found, the Kiwanis sign had just been reinstalled. There membership is eighteen and most of the members are women. They are a very active club and accomplish a lot for their community. They are in the New England District, which also includes the Bahamas. Lee is about one hour from Granville Massachusetts.
Ø Lesa announced that the Wildwood Playground redo is a go. Details to follow shortly.
Ø October 15th – Chili Cook Off in front of the College Town House lawn 10:00am – 1:00pm. Preparation of the chili will start around 6:30 am. Thom will represent Granville Kiwanis in competition with Rotary and others. How can we help Thom again win the 1st place at the chili cook off? We need to purchase tickets, eat chili, and vote often.
Ø Div. 10E Pancake Day – Northern Kiwanis at the Clintonville Woman’s Club 3951 N. High St. from 7:30 am to 12:00 noon. Cost $7.00 adults, $4.00 children 5 to 10, & free for children under 5. Menu – pancakes, sausage, coffee, orange juice & milk.
Ø Westerville Golf Outing – Jen Lewis, Jerry Miller teamed up with Della Cross (Worthington-‐Linworth Club) & her sister. They came in third. I did not hear anyone say how many teams there were.
