RESEARCH• 2018 Community Preference Survey is an update to our 2012 survey and mirrors a recent national survey done by NAR that examines

consumer preferences in housing and community quality of life to better understand what and why they purchased a home where they did. The survey is currently in the field and collecting responses. Survey should run for approximately two weeks and then the analysis and breakdown will begin.

• Phase 1 of the Regional Housing Analysis is almost complete. Phase 1 will examine identifying housing indicators, what constitutes a healthy housing market and why it is important. Additionally, this portion of the study will analyze how the current housing stock aligns with the regional economic development strategies and talent attraction and retention efforts.

• Both of these studies will be the basis of content for the October 15th Housing Summit.

GRANTS RECEIVED BY MIBOR• NAR Smart Growth Polling Grant – Montgomery County Comprehensive Plan $20,000

• NAR Smart Growth Polling Grant – Community Preference Survey $28,000

• Indianapolis MPO (Metropolitan Planning Organization) – Community Preference Survey $13,000

• NAR RPAC fundraising grant $5,000

“We are definitely concerned about the impact to taxpayers,” Pryor said.

He said while it’s important IPS succeed, the district’s request is “quite a ways apart” from what the Indy Chamber recommended.

“Taxpayers can only absorb so much of an increase. At some point you overstep that burden and that’s something we have to be cautious of with this proposal,” Pryor said.

• Buyers must make good offers to snag homes in sizzling market
