Nobles,

Here we are in February. The start of the year always brings the installation of officers at the Shrine Clubs and Presentations for the Units. We have been to NEMO, Three Rivers, Daniel Boone, Clowns, Guides and at one presentation, we were with Gateway, Yomo, Arab Patrol and Air Patrol. We also had the Clowns Trivia night and Superbowl Party. What a great kickoff to the year!

My pin this year has the words “Together We Are One”. I am asking for all of you to get back in touch with your Blue Lodge. I know many of you are still active there and I thank you for that. For those that have not been back in a while please give them a chance. By you helping them, we may just pick up some new members. If we support them, they could support us. My message is to get the groups to become one strong entity of Masons working together.

The Potentate’s Ball is coming up on February 23rd. Please get your reservations in. There is Hotel information available on the flyers and also shuttles to get you back and forth. The First Lady and I hope to see you there for a fun night.

Before you know it the Circus will be here! It is March 21st through March 24th. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and we still need ads and tickets sold. We all know it takes a lot of people to pull this off and it is hard work, but with a great return. All Units, Clubs and Committees are urged to help with this important event.

The First Lady’s Fundraiser efforts are being put into the “Feztival of Trees”. This project is being kicked off for the first time at Moolah and will become an annual event. Other Shrine units, in several other states, are doing this and have been very successful for them and grows with each year. Oriental Guide Robby Dirkers and his Lady Pam have been instrumental in visiting Omaha to see it in action this past Thanksgiving and are working with First Lady Diane. This is definitely an event all the Moolah Units and Clubs can get involved in, as well as corporate sponsors and local businesses. It is getting off the ground with lots of excitement and enthusiasm. There will be information coming out in the next few weeks on the details.

The Ballroom will be getting a face lift in steps this year. We are starting with the floor and working up. I look forward to seeing the transformation progress through the year. There are many things that are needing attention. In order to try and keep costs down, we will be having work days and will be asking for help in doing some of the pre-work. Keep it in mind to try and help when we get the dates and times together.

The Sportsman Raffle will be getting into full swing after the Circus. Ill. Sir Dean Isbell is chairing this committee and is looking to make it the best year yet!

Thank you for all of your support and we look forward to seeing you at future events.

Fraternally,

Ill. Sir Don Taylor

These we do not forget “Es Selamu Aleikum”

We do not lose the ones we love they only go before,

Where there is everlasting life. Where sorrow is no more. And there the soul will always live

and peace is everywhere. We do not lose the ones we love, God

takes them in his care.

Want to know something you can do every day that will certainly lead to God’s blessing?

Spend time with him.

God blesses those who meet with him daily.

The Bible says, “Blessed are those who listen to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway” (Proverbs 8:34 NIV).

You don’t have to spend hours with God every day, but you do need to spend five, 10, or 15 minutes every day with him. Put it on your calendar and give that commitment the time it deserves.

What do you do during this daily time with God? Sit quietly and let God talk to you. Read his Word. Review devotionals like this. Pray about what’s going on in your life and the lives of others you care about. Talk to God like you’re talking to a friend—because you are.

But more than anything else, it’s about listening. Let God speak to you.

It doesn’t matter whether you spend time with God in the morning, the afternoon, or the evening. The important part is that you do it. Make it a regular habit of your life.

God will bless your commitment.

2019 Shrine Circus UpdateRussell Georgen – Circus Chairman (636-459-6606)Ron Reynolds – Circus Director (314-732-2121)

The 2019 Moolah Shrine Circus committee is hard at work. Mark your calendars for March 21st through March 24th. We are getting close to our circus with the Billy Martin Circus.

Please get out and get sponsors and advertisers for our circus. All you have to do is ask.

You should have your Circus Tickets and Child Coupons by now, so let’s all sell as many as possible.

Coupons, yard Signs and bumper stickers are outside the Moolah Office if you need them.

We are in need of all volunteers to help at the Circus. Please come out and be part of this exciting time. There are many opportunities. Let me know if you want to help.

314-732-2121 or [email protected].

Our goal is to continue to make our circus the best ever, and to keep the seats full.

February Shriner of the MonthMatt Niedringhaus

Noble Matt Niedringhaus is a member of Noble Lodge 684 since 2011, and he joined Moolah that same year. Matt is a member of the Moolah® Hospital Reception Committee. and has sev-ered as President, Vice President and Chairman. He is also a member of the Moolah® Chan-cellors and Sound Unit. Noble Niedringhaus has served as a Potentate Aide and a membership committee and was appointed as an Ambassador in 2015.

He was inspired by Shriners at an early age; he was a patient at the age of 5 and saw first hand the kindness they personally made on his life.

“I just wanted to give back to Shriners for everything they did for me, something I will never forget and how they changed my life.”

The Public Relations Committee is proud to have Noble Matthew Niedringhaus as our Shriner of the Month for February.

“February is the month when winter seems end-less and you catch a cold that lasts for two days in children but two weeks for you”.

Congratulations to Don Taylor becoming the 130th Illustrious Potentate of Moolah Temple. He

and the Divan will provide excellent leadership for the up-coming year. A number of events are planned, and as Ambassadors we should support our Potentate and plan to attend. A bus trip has been scheduled for February 16th to the Tiger/Capitol/Little Dixie Shrine Club. There is no cost for the bus trip, but there is a charge for dinner. Bus trips are fun and there are plenty of drinks and food. Space is limited, so call Monica at 314-878-6301 for a reservation.

The Potentate’s Presentation Ball will be on February 23rd. Black tie or business suit is appropriate. The cost is $50 per person which includes appetizers, dinner and dancing. This is a night of fellowship and fun and is an integral part of our fraternity.

Don’t forget the Stated Meeting on February 20th. Encourage your lady to attend. An activity is planned for her while we attend to our meeting.

Happy birthday to Ambassadors who have a birthday in February. Come to the luncheon to celebrate. If scheduled, the luncheon will be held on February 8th. Call Wally at 314-498-6915 for a reservation or send an E-mail to: [email protected]. Luncheons are always fun with good fellowship and good food.

Our Christmas party was very successful. There were 90 people present , several of which are Widows. We are always honored and pleased to have Widows with us. Illustrious Sir Kyle McEvoy was present to thank the Ambassadors for the support and work we do for Moolah. Everyone had an enjoyable time.

Several Ambassadors are in sickness and dis-tress. A call or a note is always appreciated.Jeff Kittsmiller SR. won the first Ambassador raffle which was a $500 certificate to Bass Pro Shop. He also was selected as Moolah Shriner of the Year. Congratulations Jeff.

The circus is very near. Sell as many Circus ads and tickets as possible. If we all do our part, we can make this circus even better than last year.

Answer to the trivia question in last month’s Cam-els’ Tales: What does the “S” stand for in Harry “S” Truman? It stands for nothing. His parents gave him a middle name of “S” after they could not agree on a middle name to honor the grandfathers whose first names began with the letter “S”

Once an Ambassador, Always an Ambassador!

Congratulations to the Elected Officers for 2019. An exciting year is planned so make sure your seat belt is fastened and tightened up..., Consid-er yourself Briefed.

Mark your calendar for MOTOWN Review, Satur-day, February 16th at Moolah Temple. This is an Air Patrol Sponsored event.

Mark your calendar for the Potentates Presenta-tion, Saturday, February 23rd. Make your reser-vations with the Moolah Shrine office and let them know you would like to sit with The Air Patrol.

Circus 2019 is just around the corner. Circus parade is in St. Charles and will be held on Saturday, March 9th. Following the parade, the Circus Kickoff will take place at Moolah. Circus 2019 dates are March 21, 22, 23 and 24th. All info is available on line as well as in the printed Camels’ Tale.

If you are not receiving communications – NO-TAMS. Etc. please send an email to [email protected] so that we can get you into the loop. Lots of action, activities and excitement with our Air Patrol Unit and we would like - want you to be part of it all.

Dues for 2019 is due so please send your payment to our Secretary, Noble Chris Grau. Better yet, come on up to the Hangar and attend a meeting as well as catch up with some old friends. Maybe even make a few new ones. Hope to see you.

The American Muscle Unit met on Wednesday, January 2 to paint their new room at the Shrine. Many thanks to the Musclemen who donated their time and expertise. The room looks great with the brand new large screen TV, new lights and new ceiling fans.

The American Muscle Unit will work with the Smokin' Nobles to conduct our Annual Memorial Day BBQ event at Jefferson Barracks on Saturday, May 18, 2019. This popular event feeds all our veterans and the hospital staff at Jefferson Barracks pork steaks, chicken breasts, cole slaw, potato salad, drinks and individually wrapped desserts.

If you have a muscle car you would like to show or parade, join us. If you do not have a mus-cle car but would like to drive one of the Unit's Mystical Flying Carpets, join us! The American Muscle Unit meets at 6:30 pm the first Wednes-day of every month. Our Unit room is on the same level as the office, in the SouthWest corner of the Shrine. We hope to see you there!

Greeting to Nobles and Ladies!Follow us at www.arabpatrol.webs.com

Attention newly created Nobles and “Members at Large”. Please give the Patrol a good look. We are one of the most active units at Moolah and are proud of it. We are always entertaining new faces and our door is always open. Stop by and check us out. Step by Step we’re the “Best”.

You might have missed the best Officer’s Presentation of the year. The Arab Patrol helped host a four unit installation and party to celebrate the changing of the guard. Congratulations once again to all. A new dance floor is definitely needed now.

Great Trivia Nite! Thanks goes out to all of our members and their ladies for all the help. Everyone who pitched in made it a fun night not only for the party goers but ourselves. Looks like the Sneaker Fund, Transportation, Shriner's Kids Party and the Hospital will be getting some nice donations. This is why we do what we do. Is that a real sentence? Anyway you know what I mean.

Circus is coming up quick and the skits are looking good. Lots of guys coming to practice which means these will be successful. Several events that are coming to the Dome will need a lot of help making balloons and entertaining the crowd. So please sign up and be a part of these fun times and promote our circus.

We all had a great time at our Unit’s 50th Year presentation. Thanks and congrats to Green Jeans (Lee Mueller) for the excellent venue. Meal was great and the comradery even better. Great crowd.

Merlin (Tom Dolan) has hit some bad times in his life lately. It seems that his wife left him, his dog died and his truck was stolen. Because of all his problems he has turned down his opportunity to go to Disneyworld and MC the opening of the new Its a Small World ride next month. So I have created a Go Fund Me page in facebook for him. Please go to facebook and send your donations to Steve Kern and he will take care of getting the money to Merlin. I know he will be pleased with your generous donations.

So I was at the bar last night and the waitress screamed "Anyone know CPR" I said "Hell, I know the whole alphabet." Everyone laughed... Well everyone except this one guy.

The loss of a dear friend hurts deeply. Such is the death of Nobel Robert Lang. Bobs’ death was too soon and too sad to his family, friends, the Shrine, the Chanters and most of all to his dear wife, Lady June. June and Bob were to music what rhythm is to dance. Their mutual interest continued throughout their lives and the patronage to musical performances of every form was for them what dessert is to a child.

They met at a dance which Bob, while playing in the band met June, the band’s singer. Their interest in music of every type continued through-out their lives. Where music was, you could find Bob and June. People like Bob Lang live on in our memory as do all those so admired.

This is the time his Illustrious Sir Kyle McEvoy and First Lady Kerry retire from office. The Chanters very much appreciate their service and wish them every future happiness. He leaves Moolah in the competent hands of His Illustrious Sir Don Taylor and His Lady Diane. We wish them every success in the coming year as they guide us in that path of helping our Kids.

The Chanters future success is hinged on the guidance of our worthy new officers. Kudos to all retiring officers for making our time as pleasur-able as it could ever have been.

January was that type month we hope can be repeated in all months to come. SGuided by the worthy Nobel Conductor Jim Gesell we became

synchronized to the point of excellence. You’ll have to hear us at one of our future performanc-es to which you are cordially invited!

We Chanters thank all fellow Nobles for making our time as pleasurable as it could ever have been with such a wonderful organization as our Moolah.

Thank you all, God Bless. We Chanters wish that this year be your best.

The Hospital Reception Committee finished 2018 with a flurry of activities, including the hugely successful Racquet Ruckus racquet-ball tournament on Saturday, December 1, our Christmas Party on Friday, December 7, the Fall Ceremonial, the Stated Meetings and collecting, storing, and distributing donations for the Hospital Toy Chest. As you may or may not know, this Committee took over responsibility for the acquisition, storage and distribution of toys to our Hospital patients when we moved from the

The Drum Corps is very saddened to report the untimely passing of our Director/Secretary, Rick Gwydir on December 14, 2018. Rick joined the Drum Corps in September,1982 and followed in his fathers footsteps and became an excellent drummer and instructor for other drummers. He never missed a parade or practice except for health reasons and kept us well informed as Secretary and recently as Director. old Hospital on Lindbergh to our current Hospital at 4400 Clayton Blvd. The toys are given out by volunteers from this Committee to all patients attending the medical clinics, POPs patients visiting for their orthotics and prosthetics, patients getting physical rehab. therapy, Research Center patients, and all their siblings. This can add up to hundreds of toys every week, and approximately 1,000 toys per month! A huge “Thank You” to all those who have donated to the Toy Chest Fund this past year, including the Guides Unit, the Hospital Reception Committee, the Clowns Unit, the Swing Dance Unit, the ECMO Shrine Club, the Joachim Shrine Club, the American Legion Post 253 in Festus, the Nailah Court #107 of the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, Mid-Mo Shrine Club, Happy Hours LLC, the Air Patrol Unit and Hospital Patient Party Committee, the Recreational Therapy Department at Shriners Hospital St. Louis, Bob Daniels, Bill Bradford and the many other individuals and groups donating their money or toys. Receiving a toy at the end of a Shriners Hospital visit is a big part of a patient's positive experience, and we could not make this happen every day without your help. If you would like to make a donation, please contact either Bill Bradford at (314) 974-3084 or Jim Gesell at (636) 352-5146.

A special “Thank You” needs to go out to Patient Ambassador Connor Maine and his family. Connor has consistently supported both Hospital and Shrine activities, including our Hospital Awareness Days, our Ceremonials, our telethons, and his own fund-raising events. Connor gave a wonderful speech at the October 24 MRI Network Group benefit that raised $22,000 for our Shriners Hospital! Connor even threw out the opening pitch at the Shriner Recognition Day Cardinals Game! Most recently, Connor conducted a fund drive where he collected toys for the Hospital in-patients (distributed by the Recreational Thera-py Department) and the Toy Chest (distributed by the Hospital Reception Committee Volunteers to out-patients). He also donated money to each group for the purchase of toys in the future. Finally, Connor attended our Fall Ceremonial to speak with the new Shrine initiates. In the absence of a Hospital Tour, Connor was able to share the purpose and mission of our philanthro-py. Thank you Connor, Andy, Megan, and the rest of the Maine family for all you do.

Hospital Reception Committee responsibilities also include collecting the password at Stated

NOBLES - The Shrine Circus is but a few weeks away. The Provost Guard Unit needs a few NEW active members to assist in "Parking and Guarding" the event. The work is not hard and pays accordingly.

We meet on the second Monday of each month at 7 pm in the Provost Guard Room which is straight down the hall from the elevator (main floor) , second door on the left. It will NOT be locked. You DO NOT need a security license to join our Unit. (You may wish to obtain one after you apply for membership). If you are or are not a member of another unit, please give us a LOOK. When we are licensed, we do carry handcuffs but we also carry the key to open them. When we are licensed, we are required by law to assist a police officer who may ask for our assistance. We may not have the "fun" that other units enjoy, but we do understand our value and obligation to the Shrine and it's members.

Work hard, play safe, enjoy life, and always re-member that you are a Mason and a Shriner. As such, you should be an example of good charac-ter to those you meet each day. Your words and your actions should be examples of the values and teachings of your moral foundation which is your Faith and Masonry.

Our monthly Dinner Meetings are on the last Thursday of the month and the extra bonus is that while the guys have their meeting, our Ladies have a great time playing bunko! Arrive for dinner between 6:00 and 6:30; we order off the menu and have separate checks. They have great food and reasonable prices. At 7:30 the guys have a brief meeting and the ladies play bunko. For those Ladies that have never played, no need to be afraid – it takes only 2 minutes to learn.

Whether you are a member of Daniel Boone, or not -- we would love to have you and your Lady join us. We’ll make sure that you are greeted when you arrive and that you’ll always feel welcome. If you want to join us for one of our dinners, no reservation needed – just show up!!!

The Capital Shrine Club began the new year with our January 2019 Nobility Meeting. During the Social Hour, our members shared with one another the wonderful events that had transpired in their lives during the recent holidays. We gathered together for a nice Fried Chicken dinner and our Meeting immediately after. We were pleased to have our newest Shriner, Noble Corey Dawson and his lovely Lady Michelle in attendance. Pres-ident David Perkins welcomed all to the meeting and the meeting continued in harmony and frater-nal fellowship. We are looking forward to the New Year and the wonderful things it has in store for us. Legendary rock band donates worldwide hit song to Shriners Hospitals for Children

FOREIGNER has recorded a special version of its classic song “I Want To Know What Love Is”

FOREIGNER, the classic British-American rock band, has announced that it will be donating its hit song I Want To Know What Love Is to Shriners Hospitals for Children. FOREIGNER recently recorded the song with Kelly Hansen as lead vocalist, and they will be creating a new music video featuring Shriners Hospitals for Children patients. The new release is available for download on Google Play and iTunes as of January 1.

FOREIGNER is donating all sales proceeds to Shriners Hospitals for Children.

The Mick Jones composition I Want To Know What Love Is hit the top of the charts all over the world when it was released in 1984, and is FOREIGNER’s biggest hit to date. It remains one of the band’s best-known songs and is listed as one of Rolling Stone Magazine’s greatest songs of all time.

“There is a spiritual undertone to I Want To Know What Love Is, and when you apply the lyrics to a cause like Shriners Hospitals for Children, it brings a whole new meaning to the song,” said FOREIGNER lead guitarist and songwriter Mick Jones.

“It’s hard to put a dollar amount on the value of this gift, but this is truly a monumental donation in our mind,” said John McCabe, executive vice president of Shriners Hospitals for Children. “Participating in the music video will be an invaluable experience for our patients. The fact that sales proceeds from the down-load of this song will go to Shriners Hospitals for Children is a wonderful bonus.”

“FOREIGNER has been involved with Shriners Hospitals for 10 years, and we’ve been looking for a way to make a more meaningful impact,” said lead singer Kelly Hansen. “The lyrics of this song really speak to the qualities we’ve observed in the children here at Shriners Hospitals. The kids show this amazing resilience and happiness that really makes one think how powerful love is.”
