Morley Memorial Primary School ‘Making Learning Irresistible’ Spring Term 2015 Newsletter 23 Often getting ‘caught’ by a teacher or adult means being spotted doing something you probably shouldn’t have been. Last week at Morley we decided to give teachers a se- cret mission which was to catch children being really good at some of the simple things which we all value but often forget. Whilst children were kept in the dark about what the catch me being good’ focus was, teachers were on the lookout for children who always say ‘please and thank you’. Well done to all of those children ‘caught’ being good’ and we look forward to sharing more names of children caught in the act of being fantastic in the coming weeks! It was lovely to have the chance to chat to parents over coffee and a cake this week. Thanks to those people who did drop in to say hello and we look forward to making it a regular event each term. Thanks to the governors and helpers from Friends of Morley for keeping the coffee flowing! Also thanks to Maria Brandl for all of her hard work on the Morley website. Maria has been quietly working behind the scenes to make our website more user friendly and easier to keep up to date. We hope you like the changes. If your child arrives at school on time their teacher will record their meal choice when taking the morn- ing register. If however, your child arrives in class after 9:30am you will need to: a) contact the school office on 01223 508786 or e-mail of- [email protected] in ad- vance with your child’s meal re- quest for the day OR b) provide your child with a packed lunch from home that day. As part of our commitment to the environment and to help make our budgets go further we are planning to reduce our paper usage so will no longer send home paper copies of letters. This means that most of our communication with you will be via Parentmail and the Morley Memorial website. Late arrivals and ordering a school dinner

In order for the school kitchen to prepare the correct amount of food all lunch orders need to be given by 9.30 at the latest. If your child arrives at school on time their teacher will record their meal choice when taking the morn-ing register. If however, your child arrives in class after 9:30am you will need to: a) contact the school office on 01223 508786 or e-mail [email protected] in ad-vance with your child’s meal re-quest for the day OR b) provide your child with a packed lunch from home that day.

La Festa II

There is only one week left before we are holding the most fun evening in the school calendar, and in previous years this has also been our biggest fundraiser. Please do make sure you don't miss out on the fun. Book your tickets here http://friendsofmorley.org.uk/events/la-festa-italiana/ We are collecting some fantastic auction items (a coffee a day in Balzano's, a week in a holiday home in Scotland, the chance for your child to be the Head of Morley for the day and many more) but there is always room for more. Please send your auction ideas/items to [email protected] The classes are very busy producing their masterpieces. Hopefully by the end of next week we will be able to hold a private viewing for the school and parents be-fore they are snapped up in the auction. You can now also send in your requests for the songs that you would like played by our very own Morley DJ. If you have a tune that you just can't not dance to do let us know and we'll see if Joe has it in his vast collection of tunes. Email your requests to [email protected]

Class of the Week - Turquoise Class

We are class of the week because: Our enthusiasm and artistry in art has resulted in some brilliant collages

which portray not only new collaging skills but our ability to use music as a stimulus and to create mood.

Our wonderfully detailed recipes we created on our Whole Writing Day: we memorised an instruction text, planned and wrote an adaptation in just one day and the results were hugely engaging.

Improving our working noise levels drastically! The way we responded with imagination, thoughtfulness and a collaborative

attitude to contributing to the whole school book, The Mysterious Egg. Celebrating everybody’s achievements, whether it be karate medals, a fabu-

lous handmade costume or reading out Paddington Bear’s diary as Star of the Week.
