A Word From The Pastor/Palabras del Párroco Dear Parish Family, Greetings in the Lord! As we raffle our prizes today in our Super 50-50, I wish to thank all who so generously responded through ticket sales and support. Of course, I wish to remember our picnic committee and the wonderful recipes prepared in our kitchens and the set-up volunteers, sale counters, music and entertainment and the faithful cleanup crew. Our united effort is a beautiful witness to our faith. Our RCIA sessions for those older than 13 years of age who are unbaptized or who have not made first communion are beginning each Sunday morning. Please call the main office or download the registration form on our updated website and hand it in at mass. LISTEN TO JESUS AND THE PROPHETS Prophets have always had a tough row to hoe. Their words, often unwelcome, are used against them to persecute and even kill them. Such was the fate of the Old Testament prophets, and Jeremiah is a great example of this. Jesus endured opposition from sinners, and did not turn back from a shameful death in order to rise to a glorious new life. The ultimate prophet, Jesus sought to warn the people of his time and ours of the divisions that his words would cause, showing himself to be the prophet of all time. We all need to look at our divisions and dilemmas in light of Jesus’ teachings and warnings, and seek to understand all that he has proclaimed and taught about what will happen if we fail to listen.
ESCUCHA A JESÚS Y A LOS PROFETAS Los profetas siempre han tenido un hueso muy duro que roer. Sus palabras, a menudo poco deseadas ser escuchadas, se usan en contra de ellos para perseguirlos y aún para matarlos. In preparation for the Consecration of the Diocese of Metuchen to Our Lady of Guadalupe, all youth, families and people of faith are invited to participate in a Walking Pilgrimage on
Saturday, September 21st, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The walk will begin and end at Immaculate Conception Parish, 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale. Mass will be celebrated by Bishop James F. Checchio. The cost is $20 by August 30th or $25 thereafter. The walk will take place rain or shine.
