2021 CATHOLIC CHARITIES APPEAL The Catholic Charities Appeal brings hope where hope is needed most. From center city, to the suburbs, from the suburban communities to our most distressed communities, almost a million people each year receive hope through the
Catholic Charities Appeal. Please visit catholiccharitiesappeal.org to make your donation today! Thank you for your support.
Dear Friends,
Our readings today take us back in time to the days that followed Jesus’ Resurrection. Peter preached in the Temple, promising forgiveness for those who repent and convert. John wrote to the early Christian community, promising the love of God to those who keep the Commandments.
Before all this, Jesus appeared to His Disciples, assuring them of His bodily presence and charging them to testify in His Name to the whole world.
Today, as we worship together, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob; the God of our ancestors calls you to a closer union with Him through the Lord Jesus.
As you leave here today, filled with the Mysteries of His Resurrection, be assured of our collective prayer for you – to be brave, to be kind and respectful and to be challenging to others with His Word.
May God bless you all!
Father Cioppi

Villa St. Joseph Giving Hope to Retired Priests
“ I have been living at Villa St. Joseph for a few months and it is like coming back home again. All the Philadelphia priests know one another, and we go way back because our paths have crossed many times in our ministry. We were young together in the seminary with all these common memories, so it’s like a family. Everything about the Villa is so well done. You can never fully retire as a priest; you are a priest forever. Most of the support for the Villa comes directly from the Catholic Charities Appeal. As Catholics, we should try to give back to help others. Please know that the retired priests of Villa St. Joseph are humbly grateful.” – Father Richard Williams
St. Martin de Porres Parish Giving Hope to the Community
“ I am so proud of Saint Martin de Porres Parish Men’s Ministry Group. It is a way to bring men together to help make our parish stronger and to educate the younger community. We volunteer our time every week to help clean the parish, put together care packages for Veterans and the homeless, help at the parish food pantry, distribute clothes and so much more. This is all made possible through the Catholic Charities Appeal. When our neighborhood sees Black men at our Church, they see Black men doing positive things. You never know how you can affect a person by the positive things you are doing. This parish is necessary and vital to our community. We just want to help and with the Catholic Charities Appeal support, we can.” – Rick Cothran, Parishioner
