Our Mission State-
ment…….
“To reach out with
the love of Jesus,
sharing hope, in hu-
mility and sacrificial
services of care;
building each other
up; nurturing Chris-
tian values for real
life and spiritual
leadership; in the
power of the Holy
Spirit, to fulfil God’s
plan for ALL.”
Dear Friends,
Greetings to all of you in the
all powerful name of our Ris-
en Lord and Saviour, even the
Lord Jesus Christ.
As we have just entered into
a year of celebrations of the
200th Anniversary of the
Methodist Church, Sri Lanka
with its theme “Onward in
Christ” - let us together as a
Society move forward know-
ing that the Lord himself goes
before us in all that we do
and His blessed Holy Spirit
will lead and guide us.
It is great to have Navneth
back with us after his time of
service on the Logos Hope.
We trust that his example will
inspire other Young people
for God’s service, according
to His will. In Him,
Rev Mervyn & Mrs Claudette
Kilpatrick

NEWSHEET OCTOBER / NOVEMBER 2013
Hebrews 12:1-3
“Therefore, since we are
surrounded by such a great
cloud of witnesses, let us
throw off everything that
hinders and the sin that so
easily entangles. And let us
run with perserverance the
race marked out for us, fix-
ing our eyes on Jesus, the
pioneer and perfecter of
faith. For the joy set before
him he endured the cross,
scorning its shame, and sat
down at the right hand of
the throne of God. Consider
him who endured such op-
position from sinners, so
that you will not grow wea-
ry and lose heart.”
Teacher’s Training in Kollupitiya
Methodist and on the Logos
Hope Ship had taken place in
August/September 2013.
Logos Hope Team visited the
Sunday school on 1st Septem-
ber. It was an enjoyable day for
every child.
Hospice— Youth & Sunday School continue to visit the
Hospice in Maharagama every 5th Sunday, which is
Youth Sunday.
Teacher’s Prayer & Bible Study—Teachers meet every 1st
Saturday of each month from now on.
On 29th September 2013 after Youth Service & Sunday School, a
small group of Sunday school teachers, children and Youth Fellow-
ship members, some of whom are also SS Teachers went to Ma-
haragama Hospice (CCC Home) after having lunch together at
church. After fellowship lunch we left church at around 1:30 pm
by a couple of hired vans, armed with drums, CD’s, laptop, an
amplifier and a microphone. The Youth led with a Worship dance
to contemporary Christian Music, then the Youth and some teach-
ers sang along with the patients to some secular songs on CD.
The children were then taken away for craft to a another room
while the elders continued with the youth and some teachers and
had a sing-song and some baila dancing (including Rev Mervyn &
Claudette, Priyangani & Gloria). It is always an enjoyable experi-
ence which sometimes ends in prayer for them as well, when re-
quested as most of them are from other religions. Anyone wanting
to join us on Youth Sundays (5th Sunday) are most WELCOME!
A dedicated group of
Young People meet each
Sunday from 4:30 PM until
6:30 PM. Pray with Rev &
Mrs Kilpatrick as they lead
this ne Discipleship Course
& that many more will join
in fun, food & fellowship.

CHURCH FINANCES
We thank you all for offerings to God every Sunday.
All ear-marked gifts go directly to those purposes,
such as BSR, Flood Relief and Christian Service
Fund on Communion Sundays. The regular month-
ly/loose/thank offering goes towards meeting the
required Quota from Mount Lavinia Society through
the Circuit to MCSL HQ of almost Rs.40,000/- per
week and also about Rs.3000/- per week to support
of an Evangelist in Methodist Church. Furthermore,
there are other regular giving's of our Chapel Fund
(loose collections) to the Circuit, for example 5th
Sunday (Youth Sunday) , MWF, DSR etc., etc. We
are just trying to highlight that most of what comes
through your offering very often has to be paid out
more of less instantly. Thanking you once again.
and various contributions by the
members, which has been en-
couraged, so that hidden talents
are brought out even at this late
stage. You are assured of a very
inspiring and fun-filled evening.
It wraps up with a simple dinner
of Pan, Pol Sombol and Parippu.
Of course, there are special
treats for Birthdays, Wedding
Anniversaries, etc. The mem-
bers have increased over the
last three meetings and we invite
more to join and bring their kith
and kin along, too.
Be a part of the Adult Fellow-
ship! The Adult Fellowship
has been a segment of the
BSR for many years. This
concept was initiated to pro-
vide an environment of fellow-
ship for the adult members of
our church family who found it
difficult to associate with
each other on a personal ba-
sis. The group meets once in
two months, on the last Friday
of the month. The evening
begins at 7:00 pm with prayer
and praise, followed by games
by our church, if required. We
would like to see all members/
families attending this special
event including Sunday school
children & their families. Fi-
nances should not keep any-
one away from attending.
Please speak to Rev Mervyn if
need be.
Some may prefer to pay by
installments and even that’s
okay. Gloria and Buddhike will
be available each Sunday to
record your confirmation/your
attendance. Children between the ages of 6-12
years are half rate. Children below 6 years of
age—FREE.
We will have special Speakers for
the Adults, for Youth (one or two
sessions) and Children will be
looked after separately during
adult sessions.
Facilities:
There is Pony riding, Swimming
Pool, Mountain Biking, Gym, Boating and many
other activities.
ALL ARE WELCOME!
In our Leaders meeting held Sat-
urday 12th Oct—we have decided
to have our family Camp in Ku-
kuleganga from Thursday 13th —
Sunday 16th February 2013. We
had to postpone our camp be-
cause of the re-scheduling of
exams of the Colombo Schools
because of the Commonwealth
Meetings in November 2013.
The church will give a blanket
subsidy of the cost. A subsidized
rate of about Rs.7,500 per adult,
for those who can afford. Any
further short-fall will be covered
