Mission Statement

The Mountain Music Trail is made up of a diverse group who are

dedicated to:

Promoting and presenting the traditional music, dance, and folkways

of the Allegheny Mountain region,

Promoting cultural tourism and sustainable economic development

near the Highway 219 corridor in Monroe, Greenbrier, Pocahontas,

Randolph and Tucker counties, and

Sharing a cultural experience that brings together visitors and

residents alike, to enjoy and participate in traditional mountain

folkways.

Qualifying event Recommendation• Must meet these two guidelines:– Event must highlight Music Genres fitting the

Mountain Music Trail concept: “Music tied to place”• Old time• Bluegrass• Ethnic • Folk • Country • Gospel

– Geographical coverage: Venue or festival location within county boundaries of Monroe, Greenbrier, Pocahontas, Randolph, Tucker

Partnership definitions• Performance Venues: business/organization

locations presenting qualifying music• Associate Partners: CVB’s, development

authorities, others who are not venues or festivals but support this project such as musicians, artisans, instrument crafters

• Festivals: one time a year events presenting only qualifying music– events that are either located outdoors or rent a facility/venue indoors for the event/Festival.

PROPOSED MARKETING PLANSteering committee recommends:

assessing a 2013 marketing contribution of $100 from venues, partners, festivals

to support the development of a website, print piece and logo

Partnership is free; paid partnerships receive added value benefits

Paid partnership funds will support the marketing program
