prem datacenter costs granularly enough to provide a true cost per VM calculation. As a rule of thumb, studies have shown an average of ~$90/month per VM (for small VMs) for just the HW and datacenter infrastructure associated with on-prem networks (just HW & DC operational costs - no SW licenses)

controller VM creation process as shown, but select your own VHDX file? Answer: Think of App Controller as a way to access or deploy VHDs in your VMM Library or in your Azure Library.

The VHD must first be loaded into the VMM library or Azure library. Once the VHD is there, it can be deployed again and again. So App Controller doesn't let you move from on-premises to Azure, but let's you deploy VHDs from either library.

24/7 powered it off. This morning when I powered it up, the basic disk was replaced and the dynamic disk was missing. The strip had failed. Questions: Why did Azure reset the system when it was powered off? Answer: If you shutdown a VM into a Stopped (Deallocated) state, all resources will be deallocated and

reprovisioned when you spin the VM back up. If you shutdown into a "Stopped" state or restart a VM, all provisioning is kept intact.
