1. OPENING TITLES

Deep blue (almost black) background.

ICTO logo.

The blue changes color like the dawn -- dark blue, purple, oranges, reds, and then yellow until it changes into a dark sky blue.

NCCA logo.

The dark sky blue color turns lighter and lighter until it turns into a bright white light (the sun). Lens flare points down to the ocean waves, deep blue in color. Shot of the ocean from above, focusing on a black spot. We move in closer and closer to reveal that it’s an island in the distance. Come in closer and closer to show the top shot of the island, shaped like the Tuldok Splat.

The letters “T” “U” “L” “D” and “K” form around the island to make the Tuldok Animation Studios logo. Then the letters fade away, leaving the island behind.

Flying shot through the island (movement peg is the Game of Thrones opening sequence) to reveal the different locations: the beach, mangrove groves, forest path, sari-sari store, random houses, and then finally Tatus’ house.

2. EXT. TATUS’ HOUSE. DAY.

Zoom in on Tatus’ house. MATSING is hanging upside down from one of the trees surrounding the house, talking to himself.

MATSING(mumbling)

Aling/Mang Tatus, hindi mo ba alam na madaling mabulok ang mga nakatambak na buko?

Hmm. Parang mali. “Nakakamatay ang mga buko, Aling/Mang Tatus!”

Naku, baka naman atakihin siya sa nerbiyos...

3. EXT. FOREST PATH. SAME DAY.

As MATSING talks to himself, we zoom out to show the other houses found around the FOREST PATH. We see BUWAYA sunning himself by the trees, lazily watching a bird that has landed on a bush near him.

Further on we see PAGONG walking, smiling and HUMMING to himself.

4. EXT. TATUS’ HOUSE. SAME DAY.

Cut back to MATSING still hanging upside down above TATUS’ house.

MATSINGYung mga nasa ilalim mas madaling mabulok! At ibig sabihin nun mas...AY! Ayayay aaaahhhhhh!

As he talks, he reaches out to get a coconut from the stockpile. But he falls out of balance when the whole area begins to rumble. Trees and leaves shake, making MATSING lose his grip on the tree he’s on. He falls into the stockpile as we see MANONG KALABAW running through the path.

5. EXT. FOREST PATH. SAME DAY.

MANONG KALABAW is rampaging, his nostrils flaring and eyes red with anger. Steam comes out from his nostrils as he runs through the FOREST PATH.

MATSING frees himself from the coconut stockpile and hides behind a tree, a few steps away from TATUS’ HOUSE.

From MATSING’s POV, we see trees - palm, banana, coconut, mango, etc. - being uprooted and flung this way and that.

The BIRD BUWAYA is stalking flies off and BUWAYA looks irritated and he goes off to hide in the grass/marsh.

Cut back to MANONG KALABAW rampaging through the forest. A BANANA TREE is flung into the darker and deeper area of the forest.

MANONG KALABAWMga magnanakaw! Ibalik niyo ang pagkain ko!

MANONG KALABAW rampages through TATUS’ HOUSE and destroys house. MATSING jumps back to avoid the flying debris.

The rampaging MANONG KALABAW continues, hurtling through where PAGONG is and PAGONG is knocked to the ground. A coconut bounces on his head, knocking him unconscious.

MANONG KALABAW does not notice PAGONG falling to the ground. He runs faster through the forest and disappears into the trees. We continue to hear and see trees and leaves shaking and falling to the ground in the distance as the rest of the forest folk recover from the ruckus that has just happened.

6. EXT. FOREST PATH. SAME DAY.

A COCONUT TREE tilts at a precarious angle.

MATSING slowly emerges from behind the tree where he’s hiding and as he does so, the COCONUT TREE falls to the ground.

BALOYAray!

BALOY, an obese monkey, crawls out from under the leaves of the fallen coconut tree. On his back is a bag filled with different kinds of fruits (mangoes, coconuts, langka, guavas, etc.)

UNGGOHahaha! Ang taba mo kasi, Baloy! Hahahaha!

UNGGO, also carrying a bag filled with fruits, jumps down from a nearby mango tree. OOLA, who is also carrying a bag filled with fruits, emerges from a bush.

MATSING watches as the three talk to each other.

BALOYSino ba ang naka-isip na magnakaw ng tanghaling tapat?! May dahilan kung bakit sa gabi to ginagawa!

UNGGOPumayag ka naman din, ah! Hindi na kasi kaya ng sikmura mo ang gutom!

OOLAIyan ang ikamamatay natin! Ang katakawan mo!

BALOYTama na nga yan! Nabusog naman tayo. Hayaan mo na si Tandang Kalabaw, makakalimutan din niya ‘yan!

MATSING shakes his head as he listens to the three monkeys talk. Unable to help himself, he jumps out of the bushes and goes to BALOY, UNGGO, and OOLA.

MATSINGAlam niyo, mali ang diskarte niyo e.

BALOY, UNGGO, and OOLA react to what MATSING is saying and they open their mouths to say something but MATSING raises his hand that stops them from speaking.

MATSINGOp op op. Bago kayo magalit, makinig muna kayo.

The three don’t look like they’re backing down, but they listen to MATSING talk.

MATSING(cont’d)

Maganda yung balak niyo, pero yung paraan, parang sablay e.

BALOY opens his mouth to talk but MATSING holds up his hand again.

MATSING(cont’d)

Tignan niyo ang nangyari.

MATSING holds out his hand to point out the wreckage they caused. Pan to show TATUS’ wrecked house, the still unconscious PAGONG, trees and leaves scattered along the path.

MATSING(cont’d)

Nasira bahay ni Tatus. Nagiba yung mga puno. Nabulabog ang mga ibon. At hanggang ngayon, galit pa rin si Tandang Kalabaw.

In the far off distance we still see tall trees shaking and BIRDS flying into the sky, disturbed by what MANONG KALABAW is doing.

MATSING(cont’d)

Sabi ko nga, ayos naman ang balak niyo mali lang ang diskarte. Pwede namang gawin yan nang di nagugulo ang buong barrio!

BALOYPaano nga aber? Eh ikaw nga hindi ka makakuha ng pagkain! Tignan mo sarili mo, payatot!

UNGGOHahaha! Oo nga! Payatot! Payatot!

MATSINGOps! Teka lang, mabilis lang talaga magtunaw ang bituka ko ng pagkain! Di ko na kasalanan yun!

Basta kung ako ang didiskarte, hindi na kayo mapapagod, walang magugulo at ang masmaganda magkukusa pa silang magbigay sa atin ng pagkain!

BALOYOwwws...Pwede ba yon? Kalokohan! Halika na nga kayo, iwan na natin to!

BALOY, OOLA, and UNGGO pick up their bags of fruits and vegetables and begin to walk. MATSING climbs up on the remaining trees, and using his tail to swing from one branch to another, he continues talking to the group.

MATSINGMakinig na kasi muna kayo sa akin. Walang palpak ‘tong balak ko. Kung gusto niyo, ako na muna ang gagawa, manood lang kayo tapos gumawa ng tunog ng mga aswang--yun lang!

BALOY, who’s leading the pack, stops suddenly, making UNGGO and OOLA bump into him.

BALOYAno? Gumawa ng tunog ng mga aswang? Ganun lang?!

MATSINGBasta, tignan niyo na lang.

OOLAWala namang mawawala sa atin Baloy. Pagbigyan na natin si Payatot..

BALOY shrugs his shoulders and continues walking towards the SARI-SARI STORE, which can now be seen in the distance.

OOLA(cont’d)

Halika na, Matsing. Sumama ka na, ikuwento mo sa ‘min ang plano mo.

MATSING drops down from the trees. He smiles at OOLA and takes the bag of fruits and vegetables she is carrying. UNGGO watches them, look a little bit irritated. The group walks together, with UNGGO stomping his feet like a child throwing a tantrum.

7. EXT. FOREST PATH. SAME DAY.

As the monkeys walk towards the SARI-SARI STORE, they pass by the unconscious PAGONG. UNGGO stomping causes to PAGONG to wake up, and rubbing his head where the coconut hit him, he looks around and sees the damage wrought by MANONG KALABAW.

He stands up, brushing off the dust from his body and walks towards the barrio. He arrives just in time to see TATUS see her house for the first time after the rampage..

TATUSOhhh hindeeeee!!!!

PAGONG runs up to the visibly shocked TATUS and asks what has happened.

PAGONGAling/Mang Tatus! Bakit ho?

TATUSPagong! Yung bahay ko! Nasira! Anong nangyari? Nagkalindol ba?

PAGONGAh eh. Nagwala ho kasi si Manong Kalabaw kanina. Hindi ko nga alam kung bakit. Basta naglalakad ako tapos may tumama sa akin. Pagkita-kita ko, andito na ako.

TATUSAng bahay ko! Ano na ang gagawin ko? Nagkalat pa yung mga bukong inipon ko!

PAGONGNaku,tulungan ko na po kayo. Mahirap po ang walang bahay. Lalo na’t malapit nang magdilim.

TATUSNapakabait mo naman tutoy. Ayos lang bang tulungan mo ko?

PAGONGAh eh, wala po iyon. Kung sa kin man mangyari yan, sana may tumulong din. Ano po ba ang gusto niyong unahin ko?

TATUS is staring into the distance and does not answer as she looks at the damage in front of her. PAGONG shrugs and begins to gather the scattered coconuts and places them together in a pile. He brings out a hammer, wood, and nails from his shell

and begins to build a small fence that surrounds the coconut pile.

8. EXT. FOREST PATH. DAY/NIGHT

The sun is going down on the horizon as PAGONG and TATUS finally finish gathering the scattered coconuts. TATUS has also built a makeshift house for her to stay in.

TATUSNaku, tutoy, napakalaking bagay at tinulungan mo ako. Hindi ko alam kung anong gagawin ko kung wala ka.

PAGONGWala pong anuman yon. Gusto ko lang po talaga makatulong.

TATUS takes a coconut and hands it to PAGONG. PAGONG tries to refuse but TATUS is insistent.

TATUSO eto. Pasensya na ha at ito lang ang maiaabot ko sa iyo. Maraming salamat, tutoy…

PAGONGAh eh, wag na lang po. Mukhang mas kailangan niyo po iyan. Masaya na ako at natulungan ko kayo.

TATUSNaku! Magagalit ako pag hindi mo ito tinanggap! Sige na… O siya, gumagabi na at mukhang malayo pa uuwian mo. Baka kailangan mo nang umalis, kaya ko na to…

PAGONGMaraming salamat din ho. Sigurado, masarap ang sabaw nito! Eh, sige po. Aalis na ako. Mag-ingat po kayo!

PAGONG walks off into the other part of the forest (opposite of where the Unggoys walked to) as the whole island begins to grow dark.

9. EXT. ISLAND BIRD’S EYE VIEW. NIGHT.

PANIKI is flying over the island. We see MANONG KALABAW in the middle of the jungle, standing in the middle of a cleared out field, with broken branches and ripped out trees and crushed leaves surrounding him. MANONG KALABAW is breathing heavily

and he looks very tired. He drops off to sleep as PANIKI flies past him.

10. EXT. PANIKI’S TREE HOUSE. SAME NIGHT.

PANIKI arrives at his tree house just as he hears WEIRD NOISES coming from the surrounding trees. He stops and listens for a little bit, shrugging as he goes inside his house.

SFXEEEEEEEkkkkkkk! Aaaaaccckkk aaaaccckk acccckkkk!

11. EXT. TREES NEAR PANIKI’S TREE HOUSE. SAME NIGHT.

MATSING, BALOY, OOLA, and UNGGO are huddled in a tree, hiding from PANIKI.

MATSING(whispered)

Magaling ang ginawa niyo! Sa susunod,gawin niyong mas nakakatakot pa. Basta, sundin niyo lang ako at sigurado pipiyesta tayo!

The three other monkeys nod as MATSING goes out from their hiding place and goes to PANIKI’S tree house.

MATSINGPsssst hoy! Totoy Paniki! Pssst!

MATSING gets a rock from the ground and throws it at the tree. The leaves shake and PANIKI comes out, still sleepy and rubbing his eyes.

PANIKISino ba yun!? Ang ingay! (sees Matsing) O, Matsing! Napadaan ka?

MATSINGSinadya talaga kita kasi kailangan daw balaan ang mga tao sa gubat tungkol sa aswang.

PANIKI(gulp)

S-s-s-sa a-a-aswang?

MATSINGOo, may aswang daw na gumagala dito. E nag-alala ako para sa iyo, alam ko namang takot ka sa mga aswang.

PANIKI is shaking slightly as he talks to MATSING.

PANIKIH-h-h-hindi na-na-naman ako takot sa a-a-aswang! May pangil din kaya ako, o!

PANIKI tries to show off his fangs, but because he is shaking so much, all he ends up showing off are his two front teeth.

MATSINGWow! Nakakasindak nga ang mga pangil mo, pero hindi ba mas maganda na may iba kang proteksyon?

PANIKI nods.

MATSING(cont’d)

Kausap ko sina Baloy at naisip namin na protektahan ang buong barrio sa mga aswang. Wala ka na talagang aalalahanin. Tapos mura lang!

PANIKIMagkano?

MATSINGMurang mura lang! Bibigyan mo lang kaming apat nina Baloy, Unggo, at Oola ng almusal sa bawat araw na pino-protektahan ka namin!

PANIKI considers this for a moment.

PANIKIParang lugi ako! Kulang pa ang isang araw sa paghahanap ko ng pagkain ko tapos dadagdag pa kayong apat! Haharapin ko na lang ang mga aswang!

UNGGO, BALOY & OOLA(off screen)

Eek eek ek ek! Eek eek ek ek!

To complete the effect, UNGGO, BALOY, and OOLA shake and rattle the leaves and branches of the trees they’re hiding in.

UNGGO(off screen)

Awooooooooo!

PANIKIA-aa-no yun?

MATSING tries to hide his giggles and pretends to be scared as well.

MATSINGNaku sana nandito si Baloy para protektahan tayo!

UNGGO, BALOY & OOLA(off screen)

Eek eek ek ek! Eek eek ek ek! Awoo!

PANIKIMga aswang ba yan!? Mukhang sila ngaaaa!

PANIKI tries to fly away to hide in his tree, but bumps into the leaves and vines and he gets entangled in it.

PANIKIAaahh! Saklolo! Tulungan mo ko! Sige na, sige na, tulungan niyo na ako! Ilayo niyo ang mga aswang sa akin! Ayoko ng aswang!

MATSING helps PANIKI get untangled from the vines. PANIKI flies away in a nervous flutter.

MATSINGHindi ka magsisisi, Totoy Paniki! Bukas, ha? Ang almusal namin! Dapat nasa tindahan na ni Oola bukas!

PANIKISige! Sige! Basta ilayo niyo sa akin ang mga aswang!

As PANIKI flies away from sight, UNGGO, BALOY, and OOLA emerge from their hiding places. All three have huge smiles on their faces.

BALOYAyos! May almusal na tayo bukas!

12. EXT. SARI-SARI STORE. DAWN.

BALOY and UNGGO are sleeping on benches in front of the sari-sari store. OOLA is in the sari-sari store, looking at the outside as she puts on her LAKAN PUTI face cream on her face. She hears a high-pitched sound and a thud as something falls from the sky and onto the ground.

She looks at it to discover a big basket of fruits. She runs outside and wakes up BALOY and UNGGO.

OOLAHuy! Gising! Tingnan niyo may parating!

MATSING drops down from the tree where the sari-sari store is built on and smiles at the camera.

BALOY and UNGGO sleepily rub their eyes and they perk up once they see the basket of fruits. They immediately grab bananas and chicos and start eating.

BALOYHahahaha! Ayos na pampagising ‘to!

OOLATumupad sa usapan si Totoy Paniki! Akalain mo ba naman?

UNGGOWalang ka-pagod-pagod! May almusal na tayo sa ganun lang!

MATSINGSabi sa inyo ayos ang diskarte ko! Nagdududa pa kayo sa akin e!

BALOYPanalo ka Matsing! Ayos ang plano mo!

UNGGOHindi ka na namin pagdududahan, Matsing!

MATSINGDapat lang! Kaya tama na ang satsat at kumain na tayo!

The four monkeys greedily eat the fruits.

13. EXT. FOREST PATH NEAR TATUS’ HOUSE. NEXT DAY.

PAGONG and TATUS are just about finished re-building TATUS’s home.

TATUSHay salamat Pagong at nandito ka. Baka hindi na ako natapos sa paggawa nito.

PAGONG returns a hammer back into his shell.

PAGONGWala ho yun, Aling/Mang Tatus. Basta makatulong lang.

TATUSNaku, gutom ka na ano? Kumuha ka ulit ng buko diyan para may makain ka.

PAGONGAh, eh. Salamat ho!

BUWAYA walks past the two and sees what they’ve built.

BUWAYAAng ganda ganda naman ng bagong bahay mo, Tatus! Ito ba yung nabuwal kahapon?

PAGONGYan nga ho yon. Aaah…may balita ho ba kayo kay Manong Kalabaw? Balak ko kasi siya dalhan ng pagkain.

BUWAYAMamaya na si Tandang Kalabaw. Kailangan ko ng tulong mo, Pagong.

PAGONGTulong saan?

BUWAYAKasi yung dentista ko, si Pipit, hindi makapagtrabaho. Na pisat yung mga itlog niya kahapon nung nagwala si Kalabaw. E kailangan nang malinis yung ngipin ko. Tignan mo. Aaaahhhh...

BUWAYA opens his mouth wide. TATUS and PAGONG gingerly peer inside his mouth.

PAGONGMukha namang malinis ah.

BUWAYAManiwala ka, marumi na yan. Hindi ko lang talaga malapitan si pipit ngayon, kaya pwede ka ba?

TATUSKawawa naman si Pipit.

PAGONG

Kawawa talaga sila ni Manong Kalabaw. Sige na nga Buwaya, lilinisin ko na yang ipin mo pero wag mo ko kakainin, ha?

BUWAYABakit ko naman gagawin yun?! Papakainin pa nga kita. Ano ba’ng gusto mo? Sabihin mo lang at ibibigay ko sa yo!

PAGONGAh eh, sige, kaw bahala.

BUWAYAHalika! Doon sa putikan mo linisin ang ipin ko.

PAGONGSige ho Aling/Mang Tatus, mauuna na kami.

TATUSSalamat ulit, tutoy!

BUWAYA and PAGONG walk off, with PAGONG carrying some coconuts with him.

14. EXT. SARI-SARI STORE. SAME DAY.

BALOY, UNGGO, and MATSING are lying down/sitting on the benches. OOLA is inside her store, staring out into the distance, satisfaction on her face.

All around them are the remnants of their feast -- fruit peelings, seeds, etc.

BALOYIto na siguro ang pinakamasarap na almusal na natikman ko.

MATSINGAt ayaw mo pang makinig sa akin kahapon! Sabi ko sa inyo, sagot ko kayong lahat!

BALOYSinuwerte ka lang! At madali lang naman talaga utoin si Totoy Paniki. Lahat ata kinakatakutan nun!

UNGGOKonting sindak lang namin dun, magbibigay na yun ng pagkain!

MATSINGSa tingin mo, pagnagtagal di ka pagtataguan non? Kaya mas maganda pa rin ang diskarte ko!

MATSING sees PAGONG walking in the distance, carrying a few coconuts and some leaves.

MATSING(cont’d)

Kahit sino kaya kong paikutin! Kahit ‘yang si Pagong! Sabihin niyo lang, at siya sasagot ng hapunan natin!

OOLAKalokohan! Siya? Ano naman ang sasabihin mo sa kanya? Na lalapain siya ng aswang?

PAGONG disappears from the monkey’s view. BALOY gets bored of the conversation and starts picking his nose.

MATSINGAko na ang bahala dun! Kahit di niyo pa ko tulungan! Tingnan niyo, kakain na lang kayo!

UNGGOWala namang mawawala sa atin... sige, dapat pagdating ng hapunan, may kakainin na kami ha!

MATSINGAba, hinahamon ako! Sige! Mamaya, pipiyesta ulit tayo!

15. EXT. FOREST. SAME DAY.

PAGONG is foraging in the forest, looking for things to eat. MATSING stalks PAGONG and watches him gather firewood, fruits, vegetables, etc. When PAGONG seems to have trouble carrying the things he’s gathered, MATSING pops out from a tree and surprises PAGONG.

MATSINGPagong! Anong ginagawa mo diyan?

PAGONG drops the food he’s carrying. MATSING swoops in and gets some of the fruits that has fallen to the ground.

PAGONGMatsing! Ikaw pala yan!

PAGONG gathers what is left on the ground, not noticing that MATSING has gotten a big portion.

MATSINGMasyado ka kasing busy sa ginagawa mo! Narinig mo ba yung balita?

The two walk and talk deeper into the forest.

PAGONGAnong balita?

MATSINGNaku! Nakakaawa! Si Baloy! Malala na ang kalagayan niya!

PAGONGAnong nangyari sa kanya?

MATSINGMay sakit siya na walang lunas. Ang siste, hindi siya pwede magutom dahil papayat siya nang papayat hanggang mawala siya na parang bula!

PAGONGKawawa naman! Nakakain na ba siya ngayon?

PAGONG stops in front of a mango tree and tries to get a fruit from the branches, jumping up and down. But as he is too short to get it, he brings out a stick from his shell and uses that to get the mango.

MATSINGHindi pa nga e...

MATSING watches all of this with interest.

MATSING(cont’d)

Anong ginagawa mo?

PAGONGAh, eh. Nangongolekta ng pagkain para kay Manong Kalabaw. Nanakawan daw siya ng pagkain kahapon kaya siya nagwala. Baka hindi pa siya nakakakain kaya dadalhan ko siya nito.

The two continue walking.

MATSINGAng bait mo naman! At ang sipag mo pa! Mukhang ilang araw mo din pinag-hirapan ang pagkuha niyan a!

PAGONGAy hindi naman, yung iba nito galing kina Aling/Mang Tatus at Buwaya. Naisip ko lang dagdagan bago ibigay kay Manong Kalabaw.

MATSINGAh, mabuti naman...O pano, alis muna ako at maghahanap pa ako ng pagkain para kay Baloy...

Something flashes in the distance, catching the attention of PAGONG. He walks toward it, his face full of concentration. MATSING scrambles to catch up to PAGONG, afraid that he might not be able to con him into giving up the food.

MATSING(cont’d)

Nakakaawa talaga siya...(hikbi) sabi pa ng doktor, kung hindi daw maaagapan, baka bukas o samakalawa, wala na si Baloy.

PAGONG is half-listening to MATSING, focused on discovering what that thing is in the distance. MATSING turns on the waterworks, to further convince PAGONG to give up the food.

MATSING(cont’d)

(hikbi)Nakakaawa talaga. Iniisip ko lang kung anong gagawin nina Unggo at Oola pag nawala si Baloy...Parang pamilya na rin nila si Baloy... (hikbi)

PAGONG pushes back some brush and gasps out loud, interrupting MATSING’s fake-crying

PAGONG(hithit hininga)

MATSING(cont’d)

At ako! (hikbi) Hindi ko talaga alam ang gagawin ko kung wala na si Baloy sa buhay ko... (fade)

MATSING stops sobbing to stare at what PAGONG has discovered: a glowing fallen banana plant.

The two look at each other and then back at the banana plant, their eyes as wide as dinner plates.

16. EXT. FOREST. SAME DAY.

They run to the banana tree and PAGONG starts inspecting it while MATSING tries to carry it to bring home.

PAGONGBakit mo kinukuha yang puno ng saging? Ako nakakita nito, dapat sa akin ito!

MATSINGAnong ikaw nakakakita nito? Nauna kaya ako! Kaya ako dapat ang mag-uuwi nito!

PAGONGAh, eh, hindi ata tama yun! Sinundan mo lang naman ako papunta dito...

MATSINGO siya, siya, ganito na lang: hatiin natin yung puno para masaya tayong dalawa.

PAGONGHa? Sige na nga…

MATSINGAkin yung may dahon! Sigurado, mas mabilis tutubo ang saging!

PAGONGHindi pwede! Akin ‘yang bahaging ‘yan dahil ako ang unang nakakita ng puno!

MATSINGHindi ka ba naaawa kay Baloy? Bilang na ang araw niya! Tapos aagawan mo pa siya ng saging galing dito? Ikaw din, konsensya mo na yan!

PAGONG sighs and takes a balisong from his shell.

PAGONGAh eh, sige na nga. Para lang kay Baloy. Sa totoo lang lugi ako dito, kasi ako naman ang nakakita sa puno.

PAGONG attempts to cut the banana tree in half but he is too weak. MATSING takes the balisong from PAGONG and cleanly slices the tree into two.

MATSING takes the leafy half of the tree and all of the fruits PAGONG has. He brings out a small rucksack and puts the fruit in there.

MATSINGMalaki na si Tandang Kalabaw. Kaya na niyang alagaan ang sarili niya!

MATSING starts walking away, leaving PAGONG with the sad looking lump of the bottom half of the tree.

PAGONGAh... eh...

MATSINGSalamat, Pagong!

17. EXT. SARI-SARI STORE. SAME DAY.

MATSING arrives carrying the rucksack filled with fruits and the leafy half of the tree. BALOY and UNGGO clap MATSING on the back for a job well done.

They stand around the table in front of the sari-sari store, admiring briefly the food that MATSING got from PAGONG, and then they go into full on devouring mode.

18. EXT. FOREST CLEARING. SAME DAY.

PAGONG brings out a shovel from his shell and begins planting the bottom half of the tree. He brings out a watering can from his shell and waters the plant.

19. EXT. SARI-SARI STORE. SAME DAY.

After feasting on the fruits, the four go out to the back of the sari-sari store and the plant the top half of the tree. OOLA brings out a small cup of water and pours water on the tree.

20. MONTAGE SEQUENCE.

A. EXT. FOREST CLEARING. DIFFERENT DAY.

PAGONG stands guard over the tree, but it is now growing and there are small leaves growing from the trunk. TATUS looks on admiringly.

B. EXT. SARI-SARI STORE. DIFFERENT NIGHT.

MATSING pours water on the wilting tree, but it is not helping. The plant leans to one side.

He walks to the front of the sari-sari store where BALOY, UNGGO, and OOLA are sitting on the benches. A HIGH-PITCHED SQUEAK is heard and we see PANIKI dropping a basket of fruits on the table. The four dig in and feast.

C. EXT. MUD AREA. DIFFERENT DAY.

BUWAYA’s mouth is open as PAGONG cleans out his teeth with a toothpick. KALABAW ambles past and BUWAYA moves to greet him, almost accidentally biting PAGONG’s hand off.

KALABAW stops by the plant to give PAGONG a sack of fertilizer.

D. EXT. FOREST CLEARING. SAME DAY.

PAGONG uses the fertilizer that KALABAW gave him on the plant. The plant is growing taller now, almost double PAGONG’s size.

E. EXT. SARI-SARI STORE. DIFFERENT DAY.

MATSING looks sadly at the almost dead banana plant. He kicks it and it falls to the ground with a WHEEZING SOUND. A FLY buzzes around it and lands on a dead leaf for half a second. Close up of the FLY being grossed out by the banana plant. It takes of from the leaf, buzzing.

F. EXT. FOREST CLEARING. DIFFERENT DAY.

KALABAW and TATUS are standing in the forest clearing where PAGONG has planted the banana tree. The tree is taller than KALABAW and PAGONG combined.

They all stand around it, admiring the leaves and the bananas growing up on top.

G. EXT. SARI-SARI STORE. DIFFERENT DAY.

BALOY and UNGGO are sitting on the benches in front of the sari-sari store. OOLA applies LAKAN PUTI face cream on her face.

BALOYGutom na ako. Wala na bang makakain diyan?

UNGGOInubos mo nang lahat! Matsing, wala ka pa bang naiisip na raket? Ano nang nangyari diyan sa puno ng saging mo?

MATSING drops down from a tree.

MATSINGHindi niyo ba nakita? Nandun, patay na sa may likuran.

BALOYLaos!

MATSINGE bakit, inalagaan niyo ba? Nung umpisa lang kayo nagdilig dilig...

UNGGOEh ang tagal tumubo e.

BALOYTapos nakakainip pang bantayan yun.

MATSINGE di walang nangyari sa ating lahat. Magtiis tayo sa gutom!

OOLADi ka ba pwedeng dumiskarte uli? Yung pwede tayo makakuha ng pagkain na walang kahirap-hirap?

MATSING smiles at OOLA.

MATSINGHmmm... Sige, tignan ko ang magagawa ko. Para lang sa iyo.

UNGGO flashes MATSING an evil look as MATSING goes off and walks away from the group.

21. EXT. FOREST CLEARING. SAME DAY.

Shot of the glorious and numerous bananas. PAGONG and KALABAW are staring up, wondering how to get them.

KALABAWAng taas! Paano mo makukuha ang mga saging, Pagong?

PAGONGYun nga din ho ang prinoproblema ko. Gusto ko nang kumain ng saging...

KALABAWSuwagin ko kaya? Para bumagsak ang puno tapos makukuha mo na yung bunga.

PAGONG‘Wag, ‘wag! Mamamatay yung puno! Hindi na siya ulit tutubo kung ganun!

KALABAWEh kung sumampa ka kaya sa akin? Tapos subukan mong kunin yung saging?

PAGONG attempts to climb up KALABAW’s back but he can’t reach properly. PAGONG keeps slipping down KALABAW.

KALABAWNaka-akyat ka na? Kung kaya mong bilisan, mas maganda. Naalala ko may isinaing pala ako.

PAGONGSandali na lang ho, makakaakyat na rin ako.

Just then MATSING drops down on them, making PAGONG fall on his back. PAGONG is lying down on his shell and he struggles to get up, his arms and legs moving about in the air..

MATSINGAnong ginagawa niyo diyan? Mukhang busing-busy kayo, ah!

KALABAW

Matsing! Baka makatulong ka dito kay Pagong. Hindi niya kasi maabot yung mga saging sa itaas.

KALABAW points his snout up at the bananas. MATSING looks up and he sees the bananas glowing in the sun. PAGONG struggles to get up.

MATSINGAba, kaya ko ‘yan akyatin!

KALABAWPagong, kaya naman pala ni Matsing! Ikaw na ang tumulong sa kanya, ha? Matsing? Nasusunog na sinaing ko!

Before anyone can reply, KALABAW runs off.

PAGONGKaya mo bang akyatin yan? Ang taas taas niyan! Baka malula ka!

MATSINGAko pa! Kaya kong akyatin ang kahit ano, kahit gaano pa kataas!

PAGONGAh, eh. Sige, pakikuha naman yung mga saging!

MATSINGAno naman ang kapalit? Hindi madali ang umakyat ng puno, lalo na kung ganyan kataas!

PAGONGO sige, isang piling.

MATSINGIsang piling lang? Niloloko mo ata ako e! Makaalis na nga!

MATSING pretends to walk away.

PAGONGO sige, sige, isang malaking tumpok ng saging!

MATSING‘Yan ang sinasabi ko!

MATSING scampers up the tree and drops a banana on the ground. PAGONG looks up expectantly at MATSING, expecting the rest of

the bananas to come down any second. But instead of bananas, banana peels rain down from the tree, some of which hit PAGONG.

PAGONGMatsing! Anong ginagawa mo diyan? Kinakain mo ba ang mga saging? Wala ‘yan sa usapan natin!

MATSINGKinukuha ko lang yung bayad mo sa akin. Hayaan mo, mamaya makukuha mo din saging mo.

The banana peels continue to rain down. TIME LAPSE of banana peels slowly covering the ground.

PAGONGMatsing! Kanina pa ako nag-aantay dito! Ang dami mo nang kinaing saging! Kelan mo ibababa ang saging ko?

MATSINGZzzzzzzzzzz.

PAGONGNatutulog ka ba, Matsing?

PAGONG looks up at the tree and sees that MATSING has fallen asleep. Even worse, there are no more bananas, just bare branches where the bananas used to be.

PAGONG gets angry, but instead of raging about, he gathers thorns from a nearby bush and places it around the banana tree. He then hides in a corner and waits for MATSING to wake up.

22. EXT. FOREST CLEARING. SAME DAY.

MATSING sleeps at the top of the tree. A FLY buzzes around him and lands on his nose. MATSING’s nose twitches and he swats at the FLY, making him lose his balance at the top of the tree. But before he can fall, he catches himself and a leaf. But the leaf is unstable, and MATSING falls to the ground and he lands on the thorns.

As MATSING falls to the ground, we see PAGONG watching and then hiding in his shell.

MATSING gets up and he is bleeding in some areas. MATSING yells out loud.

MATSING

SINO ANG MAY PAKANA NITO?!?! PAGONG IKAW ANG MAY GAWA NITO, ANO?

MATSING scans the area and he spots PAGONG’s tail peeking out from his shell.

MATSING sits on top of PAGONG and begins to beat on the shell like a drum.

MATSINGHindi ka na makakatago, Pagong! Lumabas ka na diyan at pagbayaran mo ang ginawa mo sa akin!

PAGONG’s head pops out from his shell.

PAGONG‘Wag! ‘WAG! Ikaw may kasalanan ng lahat! Kinain mo ang lahat ng saging ko!

MATSING grabs PAGONG’s head and begins to choke it. PAGONG manages to get free by getting up, which makes MATSING lose his balance on top of PAGONG’s shell.

PAGONG begins to run away, all the time yelling for help.

PAGONGTulungan niyo ako! Saklolo! Saklolo!

MATSING laughs maniacally, and comes closer and closer to PAGONG.

Cut to:

23. MONTAGE SEQUENCE.

A. EXT. TATUS’ HOUSE. SAME DAY.

TATUS hears the ruckus, and although faint, she goes towards it to investigate.

B. EXT. SARI-SARI STORE. SAME DAY.

BALOY is sleeping and UNGGO and OOLA are flirting with each other. They look up from staring at each other’s eyes and look towards the direction of the noise. They wake BALOY up and together they head towards the noise.

C. EXT. MUD AREA. SAME DAY.

BUWAYA and KALABAW are hanging out in the MUD AREA. KALABAW is lazing about and a BIRD is cleaning BUWAYA’s teeth. The NOISE shocks BUWAYA that he almost eats the BIRD.

KALABAW and BUWAYA head off to go to where the noise is.

24. EXT. FOREST CLEARING. SAME DAY.

MATSING has PAGONG in his hands when BALOY, UNGGO, and OOLA arrive.

BALOYMatsing! Anong ginagawa mo diyan kay Pagong?

MATSINGSinugatan niya ako! Magbabayad siya!

PAGONGKasalanan mo ang lahat, Matsing!

MATSINGTumahimik ka nga diyan!

MATSING starts shaking PAGONG when KALABAW, TATUS, and BUWAYA arrive.

PAGONG‘Wag! ‘Wag!

TATUSMatsing! Bitawan mo si Pagong!

OOLAAt sinong may sabi?

OOLA looks at TATUS and the FOREST CLEARING transforms into an arena. OOLA and TATUS rush each at other and OOLA runs into the forest with TATUS’s claw pinching her butt.

OOLAAray! Aray! Tama na, Aling Tatus! Tama na!

TATUS and OOLA disappear into the forest.

MATSING sees what TATUS did to OOLA and turns to PAGONG.

MATSINGNgayon nasasaktan pa ang pinakamamahal ko! Wala na akong pasensya para sa iyo, Pagong! Ito na ang katapusan mo!

Upon hearing MATSING say this, BUWAYA runs toward MATSING to try to stop him. But UNGGO gets in the way and BUWAYA and UNGGO battle in the arena instead.

Nagpapakabayani ang mga kaibigan mo, Pagong. Pero wala silang magagawa sa lumalagablab na apoy! Dahil susunugin kita!

PAGONGHa! Gawin mo ‘yan at pagagandahin mo lang ang aking balat!

UNGGO gives out a YELP that calls the attention of everyone. UNGGO is running while BUWAYA is chomping down on UNGGO’s butt.

BALOY, who is heavier and bigger than UNGGO, kicks at BUWAYA. BUWAYA flies into some bushes and is almost knocked out, leaving him very dizzy.

KALABAW sees what has happened and rushes at BALOY. UNGGO blocks him but he is easily thrown into some bushes and he also loses consciousness.

MATSINGKung ganun, sasaksakin na lang kita gamit ang balisong mo!

PAGONGPinarami mo lang ang problema mo! Kasi dumadami ako kapag hinahati?

BALOY and KALABAW are engaged in a wrestling match. They turn and tumble and roll over, but neither one is going to give -- both are evenly matched.

MATSINGAlam ko na! Lulunurin kita!

PAGONG is silent. BALOY and KALABAW momentarily stop fighting to see and hear what PAGONG will say. KALABAW looks worried and BALOY has a faint smile on his face. But still PAGONG doesn’t say anything.

MATSING(cont’d)

Aha! Yan pala ang kahinaan mo! Hah! Akala mo maiisahan mo ako!

Still carrying PAGONG by the neck, he walks to the grove of mangroves that is near the forest clearing. He takes PAGONG by the feet with the other hand and lifts him up above his head and throws him into the water.

MATSINGPaalam, Pagong! Ahahahahahahaha!

25. EXT. UNDERWATER. SAME DAY.

The chaotic NOISES and SOUNDS from MATSING laughing and BALOY and KALABAW fighting disappear as PAGONG sinks deep into the water. He has a smile on his face as he sinks lower and lower into the water. Just before he reaches the bottom of the sea, his flippers and legs activate and he starts swimming.

There is a house under the water and PAGONG swims through the house. Little details (pictures of PAGONG, coconut shells, etc.) reveal that the house is PAGONG’s.

He swims further up and back to the surface.

26. EXT. MANGROVE GROVE. SAME DAY.

KALABAW is sitting on MATSING as BALOY tries to get MATSING free.

MATSING(muffled)

Tulungan mo ako, Baloy! Tulong!

BALOYUmalis ka diyan, Tanda! Mamamatay si Matsing!

KALABAWTama lang ‘yan sa kanya! Pinatay niya si Pagong!

PAGONG pops out and yells at them.

PAGONGKalabaw! Hayaan mo na ‘yang si Matsing! Wala kang mapapala diyan!

In his surprise at seeing PAGONG alive, KALABAW jumps up and inadvertently frees MATSING.

MATSING runs to the closest tree near PAGONG and tries to swipe at him.

MATSINGPaano ka nabuhay? Dapat patay ka na! Nakain na dapat ng mga isda ang iyong bangkay!

PAGONGKahit anong tuso mo, Matsing, may makakalamang pa rin sa iyo!

KALABAWHa! Masyado ka kasing nagmamagaling! Ano, Baloy, bilib ka pa ba sa kaibigan mo?

MATSING dives into the water and tries to attack PAGONG but PAGONG is faster in the water.

BALOY shakes his head at seeing MATSING getting into the water. He stands down and walks away from MATSING

PAGONG is laughing as he watches MATSING flail in the water. Having had enough, MATSING half-swims half-walks back onto the tree.

PAGONG swims off and waves at everyone and he leaves the island.

27. END CREDITS

As the end credits is showing, we see OOLA successfully shaking off TATUS from her butt, which has now doubled in size from being pinched by the crab.

Text comes out: SI PAGONG AT SI MATSING

UNGGO and BUWAYA are still unconscious. MATSING shivers on top of a tree, as KALABAW stands guard underneath it.

BALOY is back at the sari-sari store, eating food from PANIKI.

Extremely end part of the credits, PAGONG arrives at a tropical island that seems to be uninhabited. He has a smile on his face as the screen fades out.
