INTRODUCTION
The 8th MPSJ Subang Scrabble Challenge 2016 was jointly organized by the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) - Kompleks 3C Management and Subang Jaya Community Sports Club (SJCSC) in association with the Malaysian Scrabble Association (MSA). This year’s edition was again held in Kompleks 3C MPSJ and it attracted the largest number of participants with a total of one hundred and seventy five (175) players, making this local event one of the biggest gatherings of the Scrabble players in Malaysia for this year. The competition was divided into four (4) divisions to cater to the different levels of Scrabble players. The Open division was for the more seasoned and competitive Scrabble players, some of them have played in previous World Scrabble Championships. The Intermediate division was mainly for schoolchildren who have been playing competitive Scrabble and also adult players. The Primary U12 division was for primary school participants while the Beginners division was for those who are starting to play competitive Scrabble.
The tournament was nationally rated by MSA and the rating changes were published in MSA’s website www.penster.com.

OPEN DIVISION A total of twenty nine (29) players took part in the Open division playing fifteen (15) rounds of Scrabble. This division featured many top-rated Scrabble players in Malaysia such as Chang Ching Wei, Martin Teo and other previous winners of this tournament. After fifteen rounds of intense scrabble matches, Martin Teo emerged Champion with 13 wins. Even though Khoo Beng Way and Cedric Stewart Lewis finished with 11 wins, Khoo Beng Way was declared 1st Runners up due to his superior spread while Cedric Lewis finished 2nd Runners Up. The top six (6) prize winners were completed by Ramaraj Sundraraj (9 wins with 1276 spread), Kong Chock Heng (9 wins with 661 spread) and Tan Jin Chor (9 points with 496 spread) in that order.
The Champion received a trophy and cash prize of RM 500 while the runners up received trophies and RM 250 and RM 150 respectively. Additional cash awards were given to the fourth to sixth placed finishers.

Intermediate Division
In the Intermediate division, there were thirty-eight (38) players playing twelve (12) rounds of Scrabble for two days. Muhd Affan Shehzad emerged Champion winning 11 games. The runners up positions went to Keeran Bathmanaban and Megan Raaj Sethu. The Champion received a trophy and cash prize of RM 250 while both runners up received trophies and RM 150 and RM 125 respectively. Additional prizes were given to the fourth to twelfth placed finishers.

Primary U12 Division In the Primary U12 Division, forty-four (44) players registered on the 6th August 2016 to play five (5) rounds of competitive scrabble. Siddhesh with 5 wins was declared the champion. John Yeap Teik Jien and Tanish Rajah managed to win 4 games each but John Yeap was declared 1st Runner Up with better spread hile Tanish was 2nd Runners Up. The top six (6) positions were completed by Nishant Rajah, Ahmad Amer Asyraf and Abu Hazeeq in that order, all of whom obtained 4 wins.
The top fifteen winners were presented with prizes while the top three finishers were also given trophies. Certificates of participation were given to all student participants.

Beginners Division In the Beginners Division, sixty four (64) players registered on the 7th August 2016 to play five (5) rounds of enthusiastic and competitive scrabble.
Syed Taha Amjad and Kanmaani Chanthran managed to win all 5 games each. Syed Taha was declared Champion with better spread while Kanmaani was 1st Runners Up. The top six (6) positions were completed by Beverly Hilde Hon, Kirtti Kesavan, Lim Qi Yang and Muhammad Izzatullah, in that order, all of whom obtained 4 wins.
