    HOW A BUILDING WORKS...

A normal Building uses Environment as a:

    - Warehouse for Resources &

    - Sink for Waste Disposal

    GREEN BUILDING

    High performance Green

    Buildings:

    - Promote maximum

    resource and energy

    efficiency.

    - Healthy Indoor

    Environments.

    Cost Delay

    GREEN RISKS

Green projects have an enhanced cost perception right from bid stage.

Irrespective of the rating of the green building, Cost overrun is noticed.

    Risks are associated with:

    - Construction waste management,

    - Resource use from Local/Regional materials,

    - Type of the building.

Today, we have begun to recognize the various contractual, legal and technical risks

that are inherent to green buildings.

Experts have suggested the following steps for Improved green building Risk

    management:

    1) Recognize the unique risks for green buildings.

    2) Develop a set of guidelines that mergethe unique regional challenges withGreen building guidelines.

Reduces volume, weight, and construction time

    Conventional in-situ Phenomena

Considerably slow processes are adoptedwhich have high energy and resource

    consumption

They also lead to excess wastage on site

and improper dumping of such wasteslater on

The end product eventually suffers due

    to inconsistencies in material uniformity,

    finishing, etc.

    Green approach

Replace part of high EE materials withother materials or regionally availablematerials, with the use of low-energytechnologies.

    Pre-cast technologies for roofing orflooring,

Precast infill wall panels, Composite ferrocement system,

    traditional mud walling techniques

These reduce volume of concrete / steelused &, save on-site construction time.

    Accelerators for Growth:

    Increasing green building requirements

    Adherence to LEED Rating Systems

    Demonstrated environmental benefits

Green nanotechnology has been described as the development of clean technologies, "to

minimize potential environmental and human health risks associated with the manufacture and

use of nanotechnology products, and to encourage replacement of existing products with new

nano-products that are more environmentally friendly throughout their lifecycle.

Green nanotechnology has two goals: producing nano materials and products without harming

the environment or human health, and producing nano-products that provide solutions to

    environmental problems.

Transparent paints that are highly reflective and if applied to roofs could reduce

    the amount of heat absorption.

    Cool Roofs

Roofing materials are simply painted white, so that the house underneath absorbs

less heat than dark-colored roofs, thereby reducing the need for cooling.

    Kazak Composites

A highly automated process producing mass-market structural plastic building

    panels with high-performance insulating properties.

    Trinity Thermal Systems

A thermal energy storage system that can easily and economically be retrofitted

on unitary air conditioning units used in small-to mid-sized commercial buildings.

    NANO TECHNOLOGIES - CONCERNS

    Slow Adaption:

Due to mismatch between a short term cost-conscious industry and the high cost of

    most nano-products.

    Health Concerns:

By virtue of their size, for example, nanoparticles are more readily absorbed into the

    body than larger particles.

Because of the large number of people employed in the construction industry,

workplace regulation of nanotech-based materials and processes could also become

    a concern.

    No Bye-Laws:

At present, only guidelines are available for workplace safety for workers in contact

    with nanomaterials.

    Important to position environmental

    considerations as guiding notions.

Requires a change in the culture of

    Design & Development so that

    alternative strategies can be considered.

Requires a shift in the mindsets of the

    professionals.

It takes time and effort to establish new

working relationships, build knowledge, and form consensus.

    SUSTAINABILITY OR CERTIFICATION...?

Being Green is no longer a cost of doing business; it is a catalyst for:

Constant innovation, New Market opportunity, and Wealth creation.

    LAST BUT NOT LEAST,

Ecological challenges are man made..! Economical challenges are also, man made..!!

But.., the victims, are the innocent five basic elements gifted by the almighty to the

    human being..

i.e.Earth, Wind, Water, Light (Fire) & Space..

    Earth - is overloaded,

    Water - is contaminated,

    Wind - is polluted,

    Light - is prevented; and above all;

Space - is cursed with black hole as

    the green house effect..!
